  • Patent number: 8814389
Abstract: Power LEDs are implanted in a specially designed printed circuit board (PCB) that is known in the art as a Metal Core Printed Circuit Board (MCPCB). The MCPCB is bended over to so as to have rounded corners having a radius that is not smaller than a determined value depending of the overall thickness of the MCPCB and other factors without any negative effects on the insulating layer and copper traces in the area of bending. In this manner, the surface area of the heat sink used in an LED nail care curing appliance is increased. The MCPCB with installed LEDs with rounded corners thereby follows the natural curvature (based on the shape of a human hand) of the appliance housing, eliminating the need for additional heat sinks or fans to reduce the heat generated by the LEDs.

Abstract: A novel hand carried ballistic shield is disclosed. Optimal shields have a shield plate, a forestock seat, and a forearm carrier generally provided as a plurality of adjustable straps. If fixed to the plate, the straps are aligned at an upward forearm angle; if the carrier is rotatably adjustable with straps mounted on the rotatable plate, the angle of the forearm relative to the horizontal lever of the shield plate can be individually adjusted to achieve an optimum upward angle of the forearm to avoid anatomical strain, and to place the forestock hand just below the forestock seat. The forestock seat is formed in the shield plate at an upper corner of the plate and inset in an upper corner cut-out in the plate. The bottom of the cut-out desirably has a rounded profile to optimally receive the forestock of the primary weapon. The seat is positioned in the shield plate to be just above where the forearm straps position the user's hand.

Abstract: An LED light with a time piece uses a simple light-medium body with a very rough finish to allow light from LED(s) to pass though input-end(s) of the light-medium body and travel within the body and obtain a very even brightness on all surfaces of the light medium that are seen by a viewer. The movement for the time display can include analog indicators with a built-in light-medium on the top cover to achieve a super slim LED illumination for the time piece. For night light application, the sealed-unit may consist of prong-means and an LED related circuit sealed within a safety standard plastic material and assembled with the night light body to save a lot of cost enable use of all kinds of materials. The invention may also be adapted to an LCD display timepiece.

Abstract: Mounting brackets hold solar-powered lanterns such as used for garden and pathway lighting. The lanterns make useful hand held lighting if they are releasably mounted in the mounting bracket where they will get sunshine for charging and where a user will often need to use a lantern. They may be mounted for example beside doors or on fence or gate posts, or on walls such as the outside walls of buildings or enclosures such as storage sheds, metal storage containers, etc. A user has no trouble locating the closest lantern after dark as the lanterns automatically turn their lighting elements on when it gets dark. The user may then merely pull the lantern by its stalk, which now serves as the lantern handle, and the resilient tongs of the mounting bracket releases the lantern.
