A hook at the top of the half shell rotatably mounts the top of the protective cage, and the bottom of the cage is rotatably received on the socket. A clasp releaseably latches the cage to the half shell in the closed position of the cage.Type: GrantFiled: June 17, 2003Date of Patent: August 2, 2005Assignee: Woodhead Industries, Inc.Inventor: Michael P. Patent number: 6688755Abstract: A laser lighting system which employs employ visible and reflective laser beam lighting sources to provide illumination of airport runways and taxiways, preferred approach and departure routes, seaplane base landing areas, marine waterways, as well as to assist in search and rescue operations. The lighting system includes handheld laser lighting units or flares particularly useful for search and which have an optic which emits a laser beam for generating a laser line which is uniformly illuminated from end to end. The handheld laser lighting units may have a pistol grip housing or a cylindrical housing, and may feature either a trigger switch, a plunger switch, or a rotary switch. The handheld laser lighting units are battery powered, and include waterproofing seals for protection from the elements.Type: GrantFiled: August 24, 2001Date of Patent: February 10, 2004Inventor: James C. Patent number: 6604842Abstract: A picture light comprising a fitting (12,13) for mounting the light on a wall or picture. An arm (9) pivotally attached by pivot (10) at one end to the fitting (11) and at its other end by pivot (8) to hood or shade (1) in which at least one bulb (30) is housed. Adjustable light directing means are mounted in the hood (1) in the form of a pair of spaced vertical plates (40,44) movable axially of the hood (1) on rotation of knobs (5,6) and a pair of horizontal plates (50,50A) mounted on the vertical plates 40,44. Movement of the plates 40,44 axially along the hood (1) adjusts the depth of the pool of light (76) falling on the picture (75) whereas pivoting the horizontal plates (50,50A) adjusts the width of the pool of light (76).Type: GrantFiled: January 18, 2001Date of Patent: August 12, 2003Inventor: Terence Paul Griffiths

Patent number: 6390650Abstract: An apparatus and method for providing uniform intensity light is disclosed. The apparatus comprises a transparent sheet, substantially transparent at a wavelength region of interest, and a line pattern, printed on a first side of the transparent sheet. The line pattern selectively blocks a portion of light transmitted through the transparent sheet, creating a substantially uniform light intensity for the transmitted light.Type: GrantFiled: August 31, 1999Date of Patent: May 21, 2002Assignee: Hughes Electronics CorporationInventors: Randolph Jay Brandt, William Odell Montjar

Patent number: 6280057Abstract: A laser lighting system which employs employ visible and reflective laser beam lighting sources to provide illumination of airport runways and taxiways, preferred approach and departure routes, seaplane base landing areas, marine waterways, as well as to assist in search and rescue operations. The laser lighting system may be a laser lighting post or a laser lighting unit for providing radiation along a surface that includes at least one laser for producing a beam of coherent visible or reflective radiation, and a glass plano-convex cylindrical lens which has an aspherical convex cylindrical surface for generating a laser line which is uniformally illuminated from end to end. The laser lighting post includes a mounting column which has an access door for providing access to a tilt switch assembly and an AC/DC power adapter unit. The mounting column is attached to a base plate by a frangible coupling.Type: GrantFiled: April 7, 2000Date of Patent: August 28, 2001Inventor: James C. O'Meara

Patent number: 6267478Abstract: The present invention relates to a pattern-changing structure for a projection light system comprising a base plate, a rotating disc, a motor, and a patterned disc, and the motor is mounted at one lateral side of the base plate, and the shaft center of the cam passes through the center of the base plate and the rotating disc, to form as a unit. A crankshaft having two ends is mounted to the base plate, and one end is mounted with a stopping region and the other end is mounted with a spring hook. The spring hook is connected to a pulling spring and a cavity hole is provided on the base plate for the protrusion of the stopping region. The rotating disc is also provided with a plurality of positioning teeth. When the motor rotates, the cam controls the crankshaft to protrude/extend or to retract, and the positioning teeth is either extended or retracted. Thus, the rotating disc is rotated intermittently and various pattern images are obtained.Type: GrantFiled: June 6, 2000Date of Patent: July 31, 2001Inventor: Yu-Shen Chen

Patent number: 6076942Abstract: An apparatus for providing uniform light intensity is disclosed. The apparatus consists of a number of wires arranged diagonally and horizontally on a frame. The horizontal wires are arranged with variable vertical spacing to create eight different zones of light attenuation transmission. The apparatus is designed such that the zones having the highest light attenuation are placed in front of the most intense light from a source and the zones having the lowest light attenuation are placed in front of the least intense light from the source. By matching the zones of the apparatus to the intensity pattern of the light source a uniform light source is created.Type: GrantFiled: June 30, 1998Date of Patent: June 20, 2000Assignee: Hughes Electronics CorporationInventor: Randolph J.
