  • Patent number: 11520097
Abstract: A single edge lit lighting module produces bi-lobed light distributions which provide targeted control of light output with peak intensity that is non-normal to the lighting module output face. The compact form factor of module embodiments having narrow width are particularly well-suited for use in linear lighting fixtures for suspended, surface and recessed lighting configurations typically used to illuminate walls, floors and/or ceilings. Embodiments of the single edge lit lighting module utilize reflectors in combination with light guides having volumetric light scattering properties and surface features to control peak intensities, output angles, and shapes of the two light output lobes. A variety of light distributions can be achieved including symmetrical bi-lobed distributions conventionally achieved by double edge lit modules. Abstract: Embodiments herein use multiple different transmission modes of a line-of-sight (LOS) communication system (e.g., an infrared (IR) or visible light communicate system) to simulate user actions that correspond to different distances—e.g., a melee attack versus a ranged attack. A toy device may include various sensors that detect user motion which is then used to identify a user action. If the user action is a melee attack, then the attack should affect only targets that are close to the toy device. To simulate this difference between user actions, the toy device uses a first LOS transmission mode which may have a limited range to send an instruction to a target device. Conversely, if the user action is a ranged attack, then the toy device uses a second LOS transmission mode which has a greater range than the first LOS transmission mode to send the instruction.

Abstract: A pattern projector has a housing and a projection device disposed in the housing. The housing has a base and a cover. The cover is disposed on the base and has a connecting portion connected to the base, a convex portion, and a datum plane. The convex portion protrudes out of a front surface of the connecting portion, and has an outer lens disposed on the convex portion. The datum plane is defined between the connecting portion and the convex portion. A maximum height is defined from an inner surface of the convex portion to the datum plane. A maximum inner diameter of the convex portion is defined on the datum plane. The maximum inner diameter is three times to eleven times as long as the maximum height. A pattern projected by the projection device will not be distorted.

  • Patent number: 10030831
Abstract: A flame simulator can include a light beam source, a range limiter, a light beam mover, a power supply, a power control circuit, and a flame screen. The light beam source can be adapted to project a movable beam of light with a circular, oval, elliptical, or otherwise round, cross-sectional shape and with an intensity, shape and/or color that mimics a flame (e.g., a candle flame) when the beam strikes the flame screen. The light beam mover can generate beam movement and the range limiter can limit the range of movement so that the beam stays mostly on the flame screen in a region bounded by the typical range of movement of a flame being simulated (e.g., a candle flame moving in response to ambient air currents). The light beam mover can cause the illumination provided by the beam to dance on the flame screen with variations in position and shape that mimic a dancing flame (e.g., a candle flame being blown about by air currents). One or more of the flame simulators can be incorporated into an imitation candle.
