Abstract: In a light distribution system for producing a series of light beams remote from a quasi point source, a light collection means, a conveyance means having an axis, and a series of illumination directors are provided. The light collection means projects light from the quasi point source through the conveyance means to the series of illumination directors. The illumination directors are axially displaced from one another, and each illumination director directs a beam away from the system to provide illumination. At least one of the illumination directors comprises a beam splitting reflector having a predetermined ratio of reflection to transmission. Consequently, each illumination director in the series provides a measured amount of brightness in a predetermined ratio to the other illumination directors in the series. The light collection means and said illumination directors define brightness and size of the beams projected from the system.

Abstract: A reflector includes one closed end, one open end and highly reflecting curving walls. The walls are symmetrical about at least one axis of symmetry. The walls include a first segment and other segments. The first segment has a curved shape and is located at the closed end of the reflector. The first of segment directs most of the light rays incident on it across the axis of symmetry at crossover points, prior to the rays striking the associated target surface. Most of the light rays striking the walls of the first segment near the closed end of the reflector are having crossover points near the light source. Most of the light rays striking the walls of the first segment progressively further away from the closed end of the reflector are having crossover points located progressively closer to the associated target surface. The other segments direct nearly all of light rays incident on the walls of the other segments towards a portion of the associated surface.

Abstract: An improved LED lamp having a uniquely shaped envelope to distribute the radiated light energy into a uniformly distributed spherical pattern. This novel lamp allows a 360 degree viewing angle in a horizontal plane about its central vertical axis, as well as, a 360 viewing angle about the vertical circle. The present invention utilizes a uniquely designed concave lens to establish a focal point within the envelope to re-radiate the radiant energy in a more efficient manner thereby creating a higher intensity without increasing the input power. Conventional LED's have a directional conical shaped pattern of concentrated light energy that provides suitable use in panel indicator lamp applications.

Abstract: The invention relates to a light pipe which includes a more effective light collector which transmits a larger amount of illumination to a lens located adjacent the light pipe. A lamp assembly includes a housing having walls defining a chamber and an open front. A lamp is mounted in the housing as well as a lens which covers the open front of the housing. The lens has a portion which extends laterally of the housing chamber. A light pipe is mounted to the housing adjacent the lens for collecting and distributing the light from the lamp along the laterally-extending portion of the lens. For more effective transmission of the light in a light distribution portion of the light pipe, the light-distributing portion can be provided with grooves along a surface distal from the lens to direct light from the light-collecting portion toward the lens.
