Patent number: 7198388Abstract: Light control grids in curved ceilings or walls include an assembly of flexible, spaced-apart sets of fabric strips that intersect and interlock, one of the sets of strips being substantially curved along its length and/or of varying length. The grids are supported by a modular rigid framework that maintains the strips taut, the frames being substantially curved corresponding to the curved strips and/or strips of varying length. A number of connectors hold the frames together and are used to attach the assembly to the building, and a number of releasable fasteners moveably retained by the frames attach the grids to the frames.Type: GrantFiled: April 21, 2004Date of Patent: April 3, 2007Inventor: Stephen E. Patent number: 7192153Abstract: A lens, a light irradiation apparatus and a laser pointer to which the lens is applied to are provided, in which eccentricity, discrepancy of light axes, uneven gap of lens surfaces and the like are reduced without performing positioning of respective lenses; and cost of manufacturing a lens having a plurality of functions can be reduced. A lens according to the present invention is the lens, in which a light diameter expanding element for expanding a diameter of incident light and a light collimating element for projecting approximately collimated light after receiving the incident light having the diameter thereof expanded by the light diameter expanding element are integrally formed in advance as a lens of one unit.Type: GrantFiled: April 30, 2004Date of Patent: March 20, 2007Assignee: Sony CorporationInventors: Masayoshi Aoshima, Kyu Kanno

Patent number: 7188970Abstract: An illumination device for simulating neon lighting comprises a rod-like member having a predetermined length and a curved light emitting surface, an elongated light source extending substantially along the predetermined length of the rod-like member at a fixed distance from the light emitting surface, and a housing for said elongated light source. The housing includes opposing and substantially parallel side walls with internally light reflecting surfaces, such that the housing serves to collect and direct light emitted by said light source into the rod-like member, with such light then passing through and being scattered by the rod-like member so as to exit the curved light emitting surface in a substantially uniform light intensity pattern.Type: GrantFiled: June 17, 2005Date of Patent: March 13, 2007Assignee: iLight Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Mark Joseph Cleaver, Eric Olav Eriksson, George R. Patent number: 7160002Abstract: An optical assembly for architectural illumination having a quasi point source surrounded by a collimating ring lens designed to radially project collimated beams. A segmented off axis parabolic reflector to collect and reflect light (not gathered by the collimating ring lens) as collimated beams and a segmented ring reflector, the segments of which are arranged to gather beams from both the collimating ring lens and the off axis reflector and then direct them in substantially the same direction.Type: GrantFiled: June 20, 2003Date of Patent: January 9, 2007Inventor: Jerome H.
