Curved Surface Patents (Class 362/361)
  • Patent number: 4291365
Abstract: This invention concerns an attachment in and for a signalling lantern in which there are provided coaxial substantially transparent tubular bodies having mutual guide means so as to be movable along their common axis, said tubular bodies being held in support-cum-guide means adapted to be mounted on face (reflector side) of the lamp and rotary means to advance on rotation thereof (said rotary means) in one direction of one or the first tubular body to envelope the light source, such rotation causing retraction of the second tubular body if it already enveloped the light source and uncovering of the latter, while rotation of the rotary means in the other direction causing said first tubular body to retract and uncover the light source and the second tubular body to advance and cover the said light source, each said tubular body or at least that portion of each as will cover the light source being of different color.

  • Patent number: 4268896
Abstract: A novel lampshade concept, in formation and assembly. Support means support a pair of bowed sheets of design panels, achieving an inwardly-illuminated effect for the design, thus providing that many decorative sheet panels, such as are provided for place mats or wall pictures, may be conveniently used as lamp shade components with no assembly task except merely inserting them into support grooves, with no glue or other fastening means whatever being required.

  • Patent number: 4245283
Abstract: A lampshade for mounting on a lamp for varying the illumination intensity of the lamp which allows flexible lampshade panels to be removeably mounted in various shapes to a frame. The frame includes a plurality of rigid, vertical support members with each support having a pair of arcuate shaped rigid supports which form a concave frame recess for receiving one side edge of a panel which is inserted between adjacent frame members. In an alternate embodiment, a flexible connector having a pair of arcuate walls connected by a central wall perpendicular thereto is disposed in a slot in a rigid vertical support member which allows for flexibly tensioning panels connected thereto along their sides. In either embodiment the particular final shape of the panel between adjacent frame members may be altered depending on the distance between the support members and the size of the panel inserted therein.

  • Patent number: 4229784
Abstract: A lampstand providing a stable and properly-oriented support for a lampshade, particularly one constituted by an oriental lantern formed by a collapsible paper shell having polar openings, each of which is bridged by a strut having a central loop. The stand includes a vertical pole carrying a bulb socket and a harp formed by a triad of arms which encage the bulb and interconnect upper and lower rings. The lower ring is secured to the pole and the upper ring supports an extension rod in axial alignment with the pole. The lantern is mounted on the stand to envelop the bulb, the upper loop being attached to the head of the extension rod, the lower loop engaging the pole at a point just below resilient collar which embraces the pole and is shiftable to a position subjecting the lantern to tension to maintain the shell thereof in its fully expanded state. Extension rods of different length may be installed on the harp to allow for centering of the bulb for a range of shade sizes.

  • Patent number: 4215390
Abstract: An improved warning light includes a flashing strobe light bulb and a plastic lens which has incorporated in the plastic material an effective amount of a fluorescent material such as a dye or pigment, which converts the radiation emitted by the strobe light to the preferred wave length of the fluorescent material. In a preferred embodiment, especially suited for use as a warning light on vehicles, the strobe light is surrounded by a cylindrical lens of polycarbonate or acrylic plastic which has the fluorescent dye incorporated therein and the bulb and the lens are protected from the elements by a transparent dome.
