  • Patent number: 5993029
Abstract: An attachment ring for clamping a globe having a flanged neck to a lighting fixture. The attachment ring comprises an encircling member which is configured as a "C" in an open condition. The encircling member is L-shaped in cross section, the bottom of the "L" providing a ledge on which the flange of the flanged neck of the globe will come to rest. An actuator constricts the C-shaped encircling member until it is closed, thereby attaining configuration of an "O" in a closed condition. When moving to the closed condition, the encircling member frictionally engages a tubular member of the lighting fixture from the outside of the lighting fixture. Simultaneously, the ledge moves under the flange of the globe, so that the globe is constrained against falling downwardly. The actuator is operated by a manual lever, and includes a locking feature maintaining engagement of the globe.

  • Patent number: 5404264
Abstract: A light fixture of the present invention comprises a base, a top spaced above the base, a plurality of upright bars (channels) formed as parts separate from the top and the base and extending up from the base to the top of the light fixture for holding a series of panels of transparent sheet material, such as glass, to form an enclosure for a lamp, and fasteners for attaching upper and lower ends of each bar to the top and the base, respectively. Each of the bars is an extruded part of one-piece construction configured to have a spine, and a channel-forming structure projecting inwardly from the spine to form a pair of channels which extend lengthwise of the bar and which open laterally for receiving respective edges of two adjacent panels of said series of panels. The spine and the channel-forming structure of each bar are integrally formed as a one-piece extrusion.

  • Patent number: 5347438
Abstract: A lamp includes a bowl shaped reflector having an elongated aperture in its base for mounting a light source. A light source including a filament enclosed in a transparent envelope is mounted in the aperture such that when the light source is illuminated light is projected from the front of the reflector and also escapes through the aperture to the rear of the reflector. A lamp housing extending behind the reflector is transparent and includes a color filter material. Light projected from the front of the reflector provides light for illumination, while light escaping through the aperture in the reflector is transmitted through the color filter material and provides a safety signal.

  • Patent number: 5295054
Abstract: Smooth lens and sealed housing assembly for signal light, characterized by its utility as a vehicular warming unit. A protruding fresnel lens overlaps a light housing, the latter bearing two peripheral, water tight and vapor-impermeable seals. An uppermost seal is fastener compressed between concentric projections of the lens and opposed portions of the housing; whereas, a lowermost seal is fastener compressed between an inter rim of the lens and the bottom of the housing, as well as a wall of the vehicle. This assembly presents fail-safe plural seals for the signal light against all inclement wind and weather.

  • Patent number: 5274609
Abstract: A glass globe for the purpose of preventing insects from blocking out the source of light in a portable lantern has two prearranged doors. The doors cover approximately 30 to 40% of the surface area of the globe and are made of a fire resistant material with a light reflective surface. The doors open back to back from the same hinge area and are biased by springs circumscribing their hinge rod assemblies. The doors, when open, prevent the wind from blowing out the lantern flame and yet permit bugs and insects to enter to the inside area of the glass globe whereby they become burned and liquidated. The doors are mounted within a fire proof frame and made of a polished metal material so as to give light reflection and reduce the light loss from the light source. The glass globe is made of various sizes to replace the various size globes in the conventional commercial portable lanterns. The doors are mounted on a hinge rod and biased by helical springs circumscribing the rod.
