The section includes a surface extending from the axis to a periphery of the section at a first end of the section, and a channel extending along the axis partially inside the section at a second end of the section. The assembly includes a chip and a dome. The chip is disposed in the channel at the focus of the section. The dome is disposed in the channel forming an interior space between the dome and the lens. The space is filled with an optically-transparent material having an index of refraction approximately equal to an index of refraction of the lens that eliminates or reduces effect of an optical interface between the material and the lens on direction of light emitted by the chip.

  • Patent number: 9689565
Abstract: An adjustment mechanism for directional recessed luminaires includes a tilt adjustment screw 104 and rotation adjustment screw 124 supported in adjacent positions on a bearing ring 102, the screws being oriented vertically and conveniently accessible through an open center of the bearing ring. Follower 106 travels vertically on the tilt adjustment screw when rotated. Drive link 108 connected to both the follower and a four bar linkage (110), transfers force from the follower to the linkage when the tilt screw is rotated. The linkage pivots about anchor points 114,116 and is pivotally connected to lamp carrier frame 118 supporting light source 105. When the tilt adjustment screw is rotated, light source moves along a path (FIG. 6, 7) to aim the light beam. After aiming, the mechanism locks the light source into place. The mechanism is compact and the adjustment screws are easily accessible from beneath the mechanism.

  • Patent number: 9664347
Abstract: A lighting fixture can dispose a light source in a recess of a ceiling or another surface while providing at least one of three adjustments that facilitates installation or post-installation setup. The first adjustment can support mounting the fixture to surfaces of differing thicknesses while maintaining the light source at a uniform recess depth. The second possible adjustment can facilitate rotating a visible portion of the fixture, typically an aperture or hole through which light transmits from the light source into a room or some other illuminated space. After the lighting fixture is attached to the ceiling, a user can rotate the aperture for alignment with another fixture or another object. The third possible adjustment can provide an illumination pattern that can be tilted to various angles or oriented in various directions according to user preference or to establish a desired lighting effect.
