There is disclosed a multi-component apparatus for erecting an aesthetically pleasing star-shaped frame upon which lights, paper, fabric or even fireworks may be draped, attached, covered or arranged to provide a rigid star decoration. Both five- and six-pointed star versions are disclosed. The elements of the device are variously and pivotally interconnected, so that the device may be compactly collapsed for transportation or storage, and yet is easily collapsed and re-erected for repeated use from holiday to holiday.

  • Patent number: 6769793
Abstract: A cover surrounds an expandable frame that, when expanded, shapes the cover in a decorative fashion. The frame includes a plurality of flexible rods interconnected between two base units. As the base units are moved towards one another, the rods flex outwardly to form a somewhat spherical configuration. The rods are tapered at one or both ends to help facilitate a circular curvature.

Abstract: A lampshade adapted to be interconvertible between an assembled configuration having a first volume and a knockdown configuration having a second, smaller volume comprises lampshade segments connected to rotational elements. Slotting means on preselected rotational elements position the connecting members to assume predetermined positions with respect to the common axis, where the rotational elements are locked in place. Methods for use of the lampshade in knockdown shipping, and kits containing the lampshade and instructional materials are also taught.

  • Patent number: 6733145
Abstract: A folding softbox is disclosed including a collapsible frame that is provided in a manner of an umbrella frame, i.e., a central post with ribs that projects outwardly from a first end of the post and curve toward a second end of the post. A strut extends between a mid-span portion of each rib and the post to hold the ribs away from the post in an operative position. The inner ends of the struts are interconnected and are selectively slidable coaxially about the post. When the inner ends of the struts are slid toward the second end of the post, the outer ends of the struts are pulled inwardly toward the post and, thus, pull the ribs inwardly toward the post into a second or collapsed position. The folding softbox includes a mounting apparatus adapted for releasably connecting to any of a wide variety of light sources.

Abstract: A lampshade formed by a plurality of rings comprises an upper ring, a plurality of upper section unit rings, a middle ring, a plurality of lower section unit rings; and a lower ring, which are arranged sequentially from an upper end to an lower end. A plurality of hooked rings are extended from each of the upper section unit rings. The upper section unit rings are serially connected by using chains to pass through the hooked rings. Two ends of the chain are locked to the upper ring and the middle ring. The lower section unit rings are arranged with a way like that of the upper section unit ring. By above structure, the ring structure is foldable so that the rings are overlapped and thus the whole lampshade has a smaller volume so that it can be stored and transferred easily and conveniently.

  • Patent number: 6688757
Abstract: A high lumen output illumination device includes a light source secured on a ballast housing and a reflector. At least one reflective element redirects light emanating from the source along a direction of interest. At least one support element gives the reflective element a useful optical shape and aids in the retention of the optical shape. The reflector is capable of being transitioned between two orientations, an open orientation, where the reflector is functional, and a collapsed orientation, where the reflector occupies a greatly reduced amount of space. The reflector includes a fastening means that allows the reflector to be removed from the ballast housing, and re-attached to the ballast housing when desired.

Abstract: A simple do-it-myself lamp assembling structure comprises a lamp body and an inserting rod inserted to the lamp seat. The lamp seat has an inserting seat protrudes to a top side of the lamp seat. The lamp seat has locked with a confining reed and another end of the confining reed not being locked is inclined upwards as an inclined end. The inclined end is exactly inserted into the inserting rod to resist against the embedding groove. A lower end of a head of the inserting rod has an embedding groove. After the inserting rod has inserted into the embedding groove, the embedding groove is exactly buckled with the confining reed of the lamp seat. Thereby, a lamp assembling structure is formed which can be detached for storage and transfer with a small volume.

  • Patent number: 6685344
Abstract: A lamp shade assembly includes a foldable shade having an upper edge and a lower edge to define an inner cavity therebetween, a top frame mounted at the upper edge of the foldable shade, a bottom frame mounted at the lower edge of the foldable shade, and a supporting frame detachably mounted between the top frame and the bottom frame within the inner cavity of the foldable shade for applying a stretching force on the foldable shade. The stretching force of the supporting frame is greater than a weight of the foldable shade, so that the foldable shade is stretched to provide a tension surface extending between the upper edge and the lower edge thereof, so as to form a collapsible lamp shade which is facilitated to be disassembled into a compact unit for storage and carriage and quickly assembled to tensely support a foldable shade.

Abstract: A collapsible lampshade includes an upper ring, a lower ring, a plurality of upper ribs each having a first end pivoted to the upper ring and a second end part, and a plurality of lower ribs each having a third end which is pivoted to the lower ring and a fourth end part which has a connection part pivoted to the second end part. The connection part has a pair of flaps extending over and pivoted to the second end part. Releasable interengagement elements are formed on the flaps and the second end part for locking the second end part from movement relative to the flaps. The lampshade has a simple construction and can be stretched and locked in the stretched state in a convenient manner using few component parts.
