  • Patent number: 7736036
Abstract: An upper portion region and a lower portion region at a front side surface of a projector lens are constituted as up and down direction diverging portions provided with a plurality of lens elements extended substantially in a horizontal direction by a vertical sectional shape formed in a recessed and projected shape relative to a reference face of the front side surface. After diverging light emitted from the upper portion region and the lower portion region to a front side in an up and down direction, a diverging degree thereof is made to be able to be controlled accurately to thereby pertinently shade off the cutoff line. A spectroscopic color appearing at an upper vicinity of the cutoff line owing to a spectroscopic light phenomenon brought about when light reflected from a reflector transmits through the projector lens is made to be inconspicuous.

Abstract: An optical axis O? of a lens section of an optical member is inclined downward relative to a horizontal direction (an optical axis O of each LED) from a light emitting section of each LED. Therefore, an area at and below a horizontal position of a lighting device is illuminated by the lens section while each LED is arranged at an optically ideal position relative to the lens section. Also, reflection surfaces of upper and lower reflector sections and of the optical member are respectively set based on parabolas P1 and P2 different from each other with focal points F1 and F2 positioned at each LED. Therefore, the area at and below the horizontal position of the lighting device is illuminated respectively by the reflector sections while each LED is arranged at an optically ideal position relative to the reflector sections.

  • Patent number: 7618173
Abstract: A vehicle headlamp includes a lamp 110 having shade switching means 140 for providing a desired light distribution pattern by blocking a portion of light emitted from a light source. Light distribution pattern switching controlling means controls the shade switching means 140 in response to receipt of an instruction of switching a light distribution pattern of the lamp. Leveling means 130 controls deflection of an optical axis of the lamp in a vertical direction. The light distribution pattern switching controlling means controls the shade switching means 140 such that a cut line is formed by a height substantially the same as that of a cut line of high beam when an instruction of switching to a light distribution pattern of “remote optically recognizing beam” is received and controls the leveling means 130 such that the cut line is formed by a height of a cut line requested for “middle beam”.

  • Patent number: 7611266
Abstract: A system for predictive front lighting of a vehicle. The system includes a first and second headlamps, a first and second swivel mechanisms and a controller. The first and second headlamps project a beam pattern for illumination of the vehicle path. The controller receives vehicle position data, for example from a GPS system, and accesses a map database to identify a map location of the vehicle. The controller further analyzes the map to determine a most likely path of the vehicle based on the map location and other vehicle heading parameters. The controller then calculates the desired swivel angle of the first and second headlamps based on the most likely path of the vehicle, and the first and second swivel mechanisms manipulate the first and second headlamps to accordingly change the swivel angle of the headlamps.

Abstract: The invention relates to a low beam headlight with at least one light module. The individual light module exhibits at least one light source and at least one primary lens connected downstream of the light source; and the light source is a luminescent diode. In addition, the low beam headlight has at least one secondary lens, which is connected optically downstream of the primary lens or the primary lenses. Both the primary and the secondary lens exhibit at least two lens segments, which are arranged one over the other. In addition, at least one lens segment of the primary lens and its assigned lens segment of the secondary lens lie outside the optical axis of the light module. The present invention develops a compact low beam headlight, whose light distribution has a clearly defined hot spot. The light intensity of the illumination decreases steadily in the direction of the basic distribution.

Abstract: In the invention, a light device is proposed equipped with a DC motor for causing the tilting of a pivoting plate, in addition, in the invention, a solution is proposed for preventing the DC motor from degrading too quickly. To this end, it is therefore proposed to limit, for example by means of an electronic control card, the supply current to the motor to a limitation threshold, at least during the phases in which the DC motor is functioning in locked torque.
