  • Patent number: 6994454
Abstract: A vehicular cornering lamp which radiates beams having different light distribution patterns in accordance with different driving conditions such as different driving speed ranges. A bulb shade blocks light from a front filament from reaching a lower reflecting area on a reflecting surface of the reflector of the lamp while allowing light from the front filament to strike only an upper reflecting area, while an upward light blocking shade provided above and adjacent the light source bulb blocks light from the rear filament from reaching the upper reflecting area while allowing light from the rear filament to strike only the lower reflecting area. The active area of the reflecting surface of the reflector can be changed by switching illumination between the front filament and the rear filament.

Abstract: A reflective surface outline 100, on which there are restrictions due to requirements from a vehicle body constitution perspective and a design perspective, is set as a basic condition for reflective surface determination, and in addition segmentation conditions and reflection conditions are set. Then, based on these various conditions, the inside of the reflective surface outline 100 is segmented along the X-axis, which is set as a segmentation axis, to produce a plurality of reflection regions, and furthermore segment surfaces 110, 121 to 151 and 122 to 152 corresponding to the reflection regions are created based on reflection angles which have been set for the reflection regions. A surface shape for the reflective surface 10a as a whole satisfying a required light distribution condition is then determined from these segment surfaces.

Abstract: A vehicle lamp is constructed such that light exiting from an LED light source is converted into collimated light and such that the collimated light is reflected forward of the lamp by means of a reflector. At that time, the reflector portion has a stepwise reflection surface in which there are alternately formed a plurality of light incidence sections into which the collimated light enter and a plurality of intermediate sections into which no collimated light enters. Further, each of the intermediate sections is formed from an irregular surface formed so as to recess rearward of the lamp with respect to a plane parallel to the direction of radiation of the collimated light. By means of the irregular surface, stray light or the like included in the collimated light exiting from the optical member is reflected forward of the lamp. As a result, when the lamp is viewed from the front, the light incidence sections appear to glare, resembling spread spots, and the intermediate sections also appear to glare.

Abstract: When the vehicle body rolls to the oncoming lane, a light source bulb is turned to a direction opposite to a rolling direction to keep the posture of the light source bulb in an erect state. Accordingly, a horizontal cut-off line CL1 of a low-beam light distribution pattern P is prevented from slanting downward to the oncoming lane side. A horizontal cut-off line forming area 20a1 of a reflector 20 is formed with a plurality of reflection elements 20s1a and 20s1b and the like. Those elements are formed extending from the upper end to the lower end and slanting, at an angle of 5°, downward to the optical axis Ax1 with respect to the vertical direction. As a result, when the vehicle body rolls to the oncoming lane side, the reflection elements 20s1a and 20s1b and the like are substantially orthogonal to a light-dark borderline L1 formed by an inner shade 18c of the light source bulb, to thereby sharpen the horizontal cut-off line.
