Plural Light Sources Patents (Class 362/543)
  • Patent number: 6092918
Abstract: A vehicular headlamp provided with a reflector composed of a low-beam reflecting surface and a high-beam reflecting surface disposed closely adjacent vertically one another, which headlamp provides a high yield of high-beam luminous energy. The reflector is formed so that the focal distance of the lower, high-beam reflecting surface is less the focal distance of the upper, low-beam reflecting surface so as to increase the solid angle defined by the high-beam reflecting surface. Preferably, the rear end portion of the high-beam reflecting surface is displaced rearward of a rear end portion of the low-beam reflecting surface, thus further increasing the solid angle of the high-beam reflecting surface.

  • Patent number: 6086230
Abstract: An assembly mounts the rear stop lamp and the rear cargo lamp in a rear cargo door of a vehicle at adjacent locations. A single control board mounts both lamps. The boards can have different configurations. However, in each embodiment a single board preferably provides power and control signals to the stop lamp and the cargo lamp. In this way, the number of parts necessary for providing the lamps are reduced. In addition, since the lamps are mounted adjacent to each other, a single space may be utilized for both lamps. Various types of lamps may be utilized within the scope of this invention.

  • Patent number: 6074080
Abstract: A reversible taillight assembly that can be used on either the right or left side of a vehicle. The taillight assembly includes a lens housing, a bracket, a lens and a spring clip. The lens housing has a parabolic configuration and accepts a lens at either its left or right hand side. The bracket can be used on either the right or left hand side of the vehicle by simply rotating the bracket 180.degree.. The lens fits within the lens housing after removing the portion of the front face of the lens housing depending upon which side the assembly is attached to. A method for reversing the taillight assembly is also provided. The method contains the steps of rotating the taillight fixture 180.degree. about its z-axis, replacing a first lens portion, removing a second lens portion, and placing a lens in the lens housing. • Patent number: 6042253
Abstract: A rearview mirror with lighting assembly for use in a vehicle, has a molded case adapted to support lights for illuminating portions of the vehicle interior, to support electrical switches, wiring, and electrical connectors, to support optical lenses for directing light, and to support a mirror element. The case includes ventilation around the lenses, past the lights, and out of the case for dissipating heat from the lighting. The electrical switches and connectors are mounted into the case. A preferred light arrangement provides illumination of areas below and outwardly of the case ends with targeted lighting areas in the lap areas of persons seated in the front seats of the vehicle, without allowing light to be directed toward the vehicle windshield or instrument panel to cause glare. A resilient sealing material is adhered to the back of the lens element for sealing with the case to prevent or minimize the emission of uncontrolled, stray light from the case.

  • Patent number: 6030106
Abstract: A lighting assembly is mounted to a vehicular wheel in such a manner that a plurality of lamps are positioned on the side of the wheel attached to the wheel rim. Wires connect the lamps to a power source mounted onto the wheel rim inside of the tire. A hand-held, or panel mounted remote control device is used to communicate with the power source, which also has a receiver and control circuit. Through this control means, the lights may be made to blink in unison, sequentially or in any manner desired and to change the light output magnitude. An important aspect of the invention is that the apparatus may be fitted to existing vehicles such as cars, trucks and motorcycles.

  • Patent number: 5988837
Abstract: A method for adjusting a vehicle headlight during cornering, involves creating cornering light by superimposing a light distribution pattern (37) with a greater horizontal dispersion than that of a low-beam light onto the low-beam light distribution pattern (36). A fog-light distribution pattern (37) of a fog light is used as the light distribution pattern having the greater horizontal dispersion. A single headlight unit can be used for generating such cornering light according to the method of this invention.

  • Patent number: 5941633
Abstract: A lamp using a discharge bulb 7 as a dipped-beam lamp LL is arranged in the middle of a triple headlight, and a lighting circuit 23 is arranged in the middle of the headlight. A cord 22 for connecting the lighting circuit 23 and the discharge bulb 7 is short, and the weight balance of the headlight as a whole is stabilized even if the lighting circuit 23 is relatively heavy. Light projected from the discharge bulb 7 expands horizontally toward the auxiliary lamp CL and the main-beam lamp HL, so that the headlight is illuminated as a whole, which in turn improves the external appearance of the headlight.
