The reflector plate and the diffuser plate are spaced at an interval from each other, and the light source unit is interposed between the reflector plate and the diffuser plate. The lens module surrounds the light source unit such that the lens module is interposed between the light source unit and the reflector and diffuser plates. An outer curved surface of the lens module has a radius of curvature different from a radius of curvature of an outer curved surface of the light source unit such that the source light beams provided by the light source unit are refracted by the lens module to result in change of traveling directions of the source light beams.

Abstract: The present invention provides a fiber-based light source device, which includes a plurality of first, second or third light-emitting devices for respectively emitting a plurality of first, second or third lights, a plurality of first, second or third directional couplers for respectively coupling the first, second or third lights in their order so as to generate a first, second or third coupled light, a fourth directional coupler for coupling the first coupled light and the second coupled light so as to generate a fourth coupled light, and a fifth directional coupler for coupling the third coupled light and the fourth coupled light so as to generate an output light source. With coupling light beams from light-emitting devices and switching of those light-emitting devices in a sequential manner, the energy loss could be minimized and good heat dissipation could be obtained.

  • Patent number: 7543970
Abstract: Each point light source includes an overhang projecting perpendicularly to a light emitting surface from one side of the light emitting surface, and the overhang has its main surface made in contact with a light outgoing surface of a light guide plate with the light emitting surface facing a light incident surface of the light guide plate. Engagement of the overhang with the light outgoing surface of the light guide plate prevents a displacement of the light emitting surface of the point light source and the light incident surface of the light guide plate even when the light guide plate suffers from deformation such as warpage. Even if a displacement occurs, the presence of the overhang reflects leaked light to guide it to the light incident surface of the light guide plate.

  • Patent number: 7537347
Abstract: A method and system for combining light emitted by dispersed light sources for use in a projection display or similar system. A plurality of elongated and tapered light integrators are placed side by side forming an array, each having at their small input end a light source, such as an LED. Light collimated by each light integrator is further collimated by a convex lens disposed immediately at the output end of the light integrator. From the convex lenses, the light falls upon an array integrator, preferably a fly-eye type integrator, and passes through it to a second array integrator. Light emerging from the second array integrator is then passed through one or more relay lenses and falls upon a light modulator, such as a digital mircomirror device (DMD). The modulated light beam then passes through a projection lens and onto a visual image display screen. The display screen may, for example, be the screen of a high definition television (HDTV).
