  • Patent number: 9052452
Abstract: A solar light distribution system includes a solar light concentrator that is affixed externally to a light transfer tube. Solar light waves are processed by the concentrator into a collimated beam of light, which is then transferred through a light receiving port and into the light transfer tube. A reflector directs the collimated beam of light through the tube to a light distribution port. The interior surface of the light transfer tube is highly reflective so that the light transfers through the tube with minimal losses. An interchangeable luminaire is attached to the light distribution port and distributes light inside of a structure. A sun tracking device rotates the concentrator and the light transfer tube to optimize the receiving of solar light by the concentrator throughout the day. The system provides interior lighting, uses only renewable energy sources, and releases no carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere.

  • Patent number: 8218938
Abstract: A light guide strip structure with neon effect, which is manufactured at lower cost and can be used with the bright-and-dark stripes or diffraction and interference between the light rays minimized. The light guide strip structure includes a transparent main body having a light-scattering surface and a color band disposed in the main body. The color band has a reflective index greater than that of the main body, whereby most of the light is reflected back to the main body and only a minor part of the light enters the color band to create neon effect. The light entering the main body substantially travels along an axis thereof. The light is refracted and reflected between the main body and the color band and scattered from the surface of the main body to enhance brightness and overcome the problem of vagueness.

Abstract: There is provided an illuminated surface mounted on a base surface. The illuminated surface includes a plurality of transmissive tiles configured to allow light to pass therethrough. Each of the transmissive tiles includes an exterior surface, an attaching surface and a plurality of lateral sides disposed between the exterior and attaching surfaces. The attaching surface is affixable to the base surface. The transmissive tiles are arranged in spaced relation to each other to define a cable channel. The cable channel is defined by opposing lateral sides of adjacent transmissive tiles. A fiber optic cable is in optical communication a light source and receives light therefrom. The fiber optic cable includes a longitudinal axis and a first segment disposed within the cable channel. The first segment is configured to radially radiate light along the longitudinal axis into the lateral sides of the adjacent transmissive tiles.
