  • Patent number: 4398830
Abstract: A discharging nozzle for foamed material, especially whipped cream, is kept at a predetermined temperature even when a refrigeration machine which cools the device holding or producing the whipped cream is temporarily not operating. Thus, the discharge nozzle is kept substantially at the same temperature as the reservoir holding the whipped cream or as the machine producing the whipped cream. For this purpose the discharge nozzle is mounted in a solid cooled housing in heat transfer communication with a hollow jacket. The hollow jacket in turn is connected in heat communication to the device holding or producing the whipped cream. The hollow jacket is filled with a liquid which stores cold produced by refrigerating of the device holding or producing the whipped cream. The storing of the cold is accomplished by a change in the physical state of the liquid. The cold is then released to the nozzle during times when refrigeration is interrupted.

  • Patent number: 4259021
Abstract: A compact mixing apparatus includes a housing and at least one motionless, although possibly vibrated, mixing element in the housing. The mixing element divides into plural streams fluid-like material flowing therethrough, at least twice relatively abruptly changes the flow direction of such streams and preferably imparts rotational momentum to the streams. A chamber in the housing permits generally turbulent mixing of such streams after they exit the mixing element. In accordance with the method of the invention fluid-like material delivered to a housing is divided into plural streams which have their flow directions changed at least twice, and the streams possibly also are rotated and are then combined in a relatively turbulent manner to form a well-mixed output. Moreover, a combustion engine system is disclosed using such a mixing apparatus to mix fuel with a supplemental fluid, with the combined material being delivered to such engine for combustion.

A cooling system is provided for the mixing chamber and its contents including a plenum chamber in direct contact with the underside of the mixing chamber floor for cooling the floor and a plurality of riser ducts extend upwardly from the plenum chamber in direct contact with the side wall. At the upper end of the risers deflectors are provided for directing a discharge of cooling air downwardly and inwardly of the upper end portion of the mixing chamber to cool the material. An exhaust system is provided for removing heat, moisture and fumes developed in the chamber and a liquid supply system is provided for additional material cooling and for washing the interior surfaces of the chamber.

  • Patent number: 4096585
Abstract: An apparatus for mixing and ejecting fluid materials interacting with one another; said apparatus comprises at least a head having a mixing chamber with an outlet opening for the mixture at one end thereof, and having inlet ports, each of which connected to a supply line for a component. Each inlet port is connectable, through a distributing valve, with an orifice opening into the mixing chamber and respectively with an outlet port connected to a return line for a recycle at a first pressure rate of each component to a reservoir. A pin is reciprocable by a first double-acting cylinder to and away from the outlet opening of the mixing chamber; the distributing valves are operated by a second double-acting cylinder parallel connected to said first cylinder, one side of said second cylinder being directly connected to a pressure fluid source, and the other side being connected to pressure source by means of a shut off valve operable by the piston of the first cylinder at the end of its backward stroke.

  • Patent number: 4073225
Abstract: A cooker for meatballs and the like has a semi-cylindrical trough mounted on a frame for rotation about its own substantially horizontal but slightly inclined axis. The trough is rocked to and fro by a controlled driving device to swing between extreme positions and optionally to stop between the extreme positions. The trough has a meatball inlet at one end and a meatball outlet at the other end. Between those ends the trough has interrupted, interior, helical vanes staggered with respect to each other on opposite sides of the center of the trough to impell the meatballs from one end to the other as the trough rocks. The trough includes a jacket having inlet and outlet connections for heating oil and may also have radiant heaters directed toward the inside of the trough.

  • Patent number: 4061275
Abstract: The mixing apparatus comprises a mixing container with vertical axis which mixing container comprises an interior space and an outer annular space, communicated with the interior space by an annular gap. Within the interior space, there is performed a size reduction of the material to be mixed into granulated material which enters the outer annular space through the annular gap. The annular gap has comb-like openings so that only parts of small size are allowed to pass through.

  • Patent number: 4056260
Abstract: Apparatus for maintaining the freshness of blood platelet concentrate and related solutions which require continuous agitation to maintain usuable shelf life. A container for holding platelet concentrate packets contains a series of parallel cells which are disposed at an oblique angle with respect to a horizontal plane. A plurality of platelet packet containers are disposed within an equal number of cylinders which are adapted to securely hold the containers. Each cylinder has circumscribed about the outer surface thereof a friction transfer surface, each of which is aligned to contact the friction transfer bearing surface of an adjacent cylinder. A rotating power source engages a friction transfer surface of a cylinder causing same to rotate, the rotational force being transferred to all adjacent cylinders. Environmental control means maintain an appropriate temperature state during the agitation of all platelet packets being operated upon.
