  • Publication number: 20130163371
Abstract: A mixing apparatus including a kinetic energy source, a mixing tank, a pivot guide, and transfer shaft is used to drive a mixing paddle through a circular path within a tank without substantial shaft rotation. Sleeved and sleeveless mixing paddles are provided in combination with sealable mixing tanks. A volumetric compensation system responsive to tank wall deflection is used to maintain the internal volume of a mixing tank within predetermined limits. One mixing apparatus includes multiple mixing shafts and paddles coupled to at least one kinetic energy source. Methods for fabricating sleeved paddle-containing mixing apparatuses are further provided.

  • Publication number: 20100091607
Abstract: A device for producing a multi-component compound, in particular for dental purposes, by mixing its components after they have been pressed out of cartridges which open into a dynamic mixer and are arranged exchangeably in the device, with a first motor for advancing all of the pistons assigned to the cartridges, and with a second motor for rotary driving of mixing elements in the mixer via a shaft, which is held in engagement with the mixer by spring pretensioning and can be pulled back from the mixer counter to the spring pretensioning, is characterized in that the shaft is provided with a radially extending projection which, by means of the spring pretensioning, is pressed onto a ramp-like upwardly sloping cam surface, which is provided on its foot with an abutment surface, of a toothed wheel, which is provided with saw-like teeth and is coaxial to the shaft, which toothed wheel, in a first angle direction in which the cam surface slopes upwards, is prevented from rotating by a catch and, in the second ang

  • Patent number: 7654727
Abstract: The present invention is directed to the provision of premixed aqueous compositions which are used to provide a paint composition of varying finish characteristics at the point of sale. Thus, the merchant distributing the paint composition made from the subject premixed compositions need only maintain inventory of four compositions. The particular compositions which are the subject of the invention exhibit stable characteristics during storage in their respective reservoirs. The compositions include a pigment composition, a dispersant thickening agent, a high resin content binder, and a low resin content binder. The compositions are combined in differing amounts to produce paint compositions being suitable for either interior or exterior use and having differing sheens, quality levels, and color bases.

  • Patent number: 7622036
Abstract: A system is disclosed herein for treating wastewater liquid by utilizing aerobic biological species. The contaminated wastewater stream is pretreated in a dissolved air flotation system to remove suspended solid waste, including large particles such as fats, grease, and physically emulsified oils. The purified wastewater containing dissolved waste is thereafter oxygenated and further decontaminated in a bioreactor tank. Biological species in the bioreactor tank consume oxygen and perform bodily functions that converts dissolved waste into easily removable carbon dioxide and suspend solids. Oxygen consumed by the biological species is replenished by pumping the wastewater though a liquid-oxygen mixer. A controller regulates the speed of the pump based on real-time oxygen concentration measurements provided by a corresponding oxygen probe disposed within the wastewater in the bioreactor tank.

  • Publication number: 20080291774
Abstract: A device system for mixing together two components, to form a pasty or fluid mixed product for the production of a ready-to-use filler for the priming of surfaces of vehicle bodies includes a support plate arranged in a device assembly, with an inlet opening for feeding the binder component, and with at least one further inlet opening for feeding the hardener component from a storage container, and with outlet openings connected to the inlet openings, and a mixing device that can be connected functionally to the support plate. A number of inlet openings of the mixing device corresponds to the outlet openings), the mixing device has a hollow cylindrical stator part with a discharge opening for the mixed product, and a rotor part arranged concentrically in the stator part and rotatably about a longitudinal axis.

  • Patent number: 6543490
Abstract: A method and apparatus (10) for custom blending spray paints. A customer provides a sample (S) of a color to be matched. The sample is tested on a spectrophotometer to determine the colors needed to match the sample; or if the paint formula is known, it is entered into the apparatus. A computer control (16) causes metered quantities of each colorant to be pumped from a reservoir (50) to a manifold (68). From the manifold, paint is injected through a filling head (46) into a discharge valve (V) and dip tube (P) of a precharged aerosol container (C) to be filled. Solvent from a tank (74) is used between a final injection of colorant to flush out the manifold and a dip tube (P) of the container. After the colors have been injected into the container, the container is shaken so that the colors intermix with each other to produce a paint of the desired custom color which is readily sprayed from the container.
