The device includes a cylindrical mixing drum and agitation tool mounted within the mixing drum. The agitation tool includes a motor and housing, a drive shaft, wiping assembly, and mixing assembly. The stationary wiping assembly, which extends downward into the mixing drum co-mingles so as to pass closely between and among the blades of the rotating mixing assembly such that the flexible edge portions of the wiping assembly blades are in intermittent contact with the blades of the mixing assembly. The “wiping” action of the wiper assembly on the mixing assembly insures complete and efficient agitation and mix of materials.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 8, 2001Publication date: July 11, 2002Inventors: Douglas R. Patent number: 6337308Abstract: A drilling fluid homogenizer and method of homogenizing drilling fluid which produce a non-clogging homogenized drilling fluid at a high throughput, in an open-loop process. The non-clogging homogenized drilling fluid is capable of being created at high rate so that the non-clogging homogenized drilling fluid is available on demand to eliminate halting of drilling operations. The drilling fluid homogenizer is coupled in series with the closed-loop designed drilling fluid system and is adapted to homogenize water-based drilling fluid and other drilling fluid types, such as, synthetic drilling fluid during drilling operations on demand.Type: GrantFiled: June 8, 1999Date of Patent: January 8, 2002Assignee: Diamond Tank Rentals, Inc.Inventors: Ben A. Patent number: 6123445Abstract: A mixer for dry powder, very fine or granular materials and a liquid, e.g., mortar or cement and water, includes a dynamic input mixing stage, a static output mixing stage and a transition tube connecting the two stages in a manner which isolates the two stages from one another. The input mixing stage includes a hopper for receiving the mortar and a horizontal metering screw having a detachable mixing auger. The auger mixes the dry mortar, while the metering screw moves the mixed mortar through a discharge aperture in the hopper and into the transition tube. The metering screw extends into the transition tube for further displacing the dry mortar into the output mixing stage which includes a mixing tube having a fixed internal baffle assembly and an auger disposed along its length. A source of water is connected to the mixing tube for forming a mortar-water slurry.Type: GrantFiled: September 12, 1997Date of Patent: September 26, 2000Inventor: Frank Grassi

Patent number: 6110432Abstract: The disclosed apparatus includes a stator and a rotor disposed for rotation within the stator. An inner wall of the stator defines one or more collider chambers. Rotation of the rotor causes movement of fluid disposed between the rotor and stator and establishes a rotational flow pattern within the collider chambers. The fluid movement induced by the rotor increases the temperature, density, and pressure of the fluid in the collider chamber.Type: GrantFiled: July 15, 1999Date of Patent: August 29, 2000Inventor: Kenneth J. Patent number: 5947599Abstract: An apparatus for deagglomerating powder in a mixture of liquid and powder, which contains a mixing tank, a rotatable shaft, at least two agitator disks connected to such shaft, and a vortex suppressor disposed above the topmost of such disks at a distance which is from about 30 to about 60 percent of the inside diameter of the mixing tank. The mixing tank has a height which is from about 9 inches to about 20 feet, and an inside diameter of from about 3 inches to about 3 feet; and the ratio of such height to such inside diameter is at least about 3/1. The distance between the agitator disks is from about 50 to about 200 percent of the diameter of the first agitator disk; each of such disks contains from about 4 to about 12 teeth attached around its periphery; the frontal area of each of said teeth is from about 0.02 to about 1.5 square inches; and each of such teeth is so attached that it forms an angle between the front face of the tooth and the radius of said disk of from about 5 to about 45 degrees.Type: GrantFiled: November 25, 1998Date of Patent: September 7, 1999Inventor: James E.
