  • Patent number: 9134265
Abstract: The invention provides a gas sensitive material made from microcrystalline selenium (preferably selenium nanowire) and a gas sensor having an element structure wherein the gas sensitive material is disposed between two electrodes. The invention allows for the kind of organic gas to be distinguished, because microcrystalline selenium reacts with organic gas molecules with high sensitivity at room temperature without being influenced by humidity, and the magnitude of change of the value of the current flowing at a fixed voltage varies depending on the kind of an organic gas to be sensed.

  • Patent number: 7898931
Abstract: The data recording device comprises a two-dimensional array of microdots of nanometric dimensions arranged facing a storage medium. The storage medium comprises a sensitive area preferably comprising a flexible membrane and extended at its periphery by a flexible fixing membrane. The sensitive area of the storage medium is thus flexibly fixed to an external frame, allowing movement of the sensitive area in its plane and perpendicularly to its plane. The microdots are preferably formed on a convex front face of a substrate, enabling contact between each of the microdots and the sensitive area to be ensured in all cases. The radius of curvature of the convex surface is preferably comprised between 0.5 m and 5 m.

Abstract: This invention relates to a head suspension with a head IC and makes it possible to simplify checking of the head IC and reduce the cost of the head suspension. A first connection terminal 21 that electrically connects to the head 4; a second connection terminal 22 that connects to external circuits; third and fourth connection terminals 23, 24 that electrically connect to the head IC 20, which processes the electrical signal from the head; a first conductive path 28 that connects the first connection terminal 21 with the third connection terminal 23; a second conductive path 26 that connects the second connection terminal 22 with the fourth connection terminal 24; and a measurement terminal 25 that is located between the second connection terminal 22 and fourth connection terminal 24 are formed on the head suspension 9. With this invention, contact of the probes for checking the head IC when the head IC has been installed before installing the head becomes easier.

  • Patent number: 5291472
Abstract: High density recording systems and methods are disclosed which employ a radiation beam to form spot-like recordings in record members such as discs, tapes and cards. The angle, offset or cross-sectional shape of the recording beam can be varied so as to vary the angle, offset or shape of the corresponding recordings in the record member. The recorded information can be electro-optically or magnetically detected and discriminated from each other to provide high density recordings of alphanumeric characters or digital data. Enhanced detection scanning is effected by ultrasonically vibrating the laser or an optical element, such as a prism or mirror receiving the reading light beam, in a manner to cause it to scan back and forth laterally to the record track as a longitudinal scanning movement is effected parallel to the longitudinal axis or centerline of the track. The reflected light is detected, computer processed and analyzed to effect proper detection of the recordings to generate correct data therefrom.

  • Patent number: 4281407
Abstract: A surface acoustic wave (SAW) pickup and record stylus is constructed from an elongated substrate which supports the propagation of SAW. The substrate is tapered to a tip at one end and a fan-shaped interdigital electrode structure having curved fingers is formed thereon. During operation in the pickup mode a beam of SAW is focused to the tip of the stylus which is arranged in contact with a record medium. During playback, the beam reflected by the record medium generates a signal in the interdigital electrode of the stylus representative of the acoustic conditions at the stylus tip and, correspondingly, of the information recorded on the record medium surface. In the record mode the stylus is brought into contact with a record medium. During recording, the input power applied to the interdigital electrode is increased to effect a deformation of the surface of the record medium representative of the information to be recorded.
