Abstract: A rotating media carrier system includes a rotating media carrier having an axis of rotation, a mass connected to the media carrier, and a device for adjusting a radial position of the mass with respect to the axis of rotation. The system further includes a device for rotating the media carrier and the mass, wherein the rotating media carrier and the mass are connected to the device for rotating such that the rotating media carrier rotates at an angular velocity that is different than the mass at any given time.
Abstract: A sound reproducing mechanism having a record member speed controlled by a governor mechanism assembled for rotation within a cylindrical housing, the governor including a driven first generally disc-shaped rotor having axially extending diametrically opposed fingers engaging enlarged diameter opposed apertures in a second generally disc-shaped rotor member having first and second magnets with arcuately configured outer edges slidably mounted thereon, the magnets coacting with the fingers and being selectively displaceable outwardly upon rotation, the outer arcuate surfaces having friction material thereon for engaging the inner surface of the cylindrical housing for regulating the speed of the record medium.
Abstract: There is disclosed a device for displacing a video disk with respect to a reading head which includes the driving of a conductive disk by means of a video disk rotational motor. The conductive disk passes through the air gaps of two electromagnets located on either side of the displacement axis of a movable member supporting the rotational motor. By differentially energizing the electromagnets, a force is produced which provides for forward and backward movement of the complete movable member of the reader.
Abstract: An assembly comprising a drive motor connected to a member to be rotated by a transmission means which is liable to slip when the rotating member is subjected to a loading thereon, includes a compensation circuit connected to the motor control circuit and operable to apply to the latter a compensation signal proportional to the change in a parameter directly related to the motor torque, thereby to compensate for slipping of the transmission means.
