Having Specified Bearing Structure Patents (Class 369/255)
  • Patent number: 9734863
Abstract: A record player capable of playing phonographic records that may be played in a scratch style by a user. The record player includes a tonearm that is rotatably supported at or near an end of the tonearm by a structure having both horizontally and vertically fastening points to the tonearm. The fastening points are configured to receive a user activated tension adjustment element. A user may advance or retreat the tension adjustment element to selectably control the positioning, or relative tension in the tonearm such that any record skipping due to undesirable tonearm pressure is controlled, or to achieve a specific sound.

  • Patent number: 8576687
Abstract: The invention relates to tonearm tracking mechanisms in phonograph players and mechanical devices constructed for the purpose of reproducing or playing back recorded audio material previously impressed, in the form or grooves, onto a surface of a disk, which are commonly called phonograph players or turntables. Such disk is commonly called, among other similar words, a phonograph record or a vinyl disk. The present invention is a tangential tracking tonearm mechanism, wherein the tonearm bearing subassembly has two rotary bearings in the lateral plane and a coupling linkage built into a compact subassembly. The collective contribution of these elements, when properly configured and appropriately adjusted, make, during playback of audio material on a disk, reduced playback distortion over radial tracking mechanisms and closely mimics the conditions under which nearly all masters are made.

Abstract: According to the present invention, when processing shafts in a centerless grinding machine, engagement between the shafts is prevented without rearranging the shafts, and thus outer circumferential faces of the shafts can be precisely processed. A shaft 12 is used in a hydrodynamic bearing device, and includes a cylindrical column formed with an outer circumferential face 12a forms a hydrodynamic radial bearing portion, a tapped hole 12j that is formed at a first end of the cylindrical column, and a first projecting portion 12b formed at a second end of the cylindrical column. When the first end and the second end of the shafts 12 are arranged side by side in an axis direction, the first projecting portion 12b of the shaft 12 can not interfere with the tapped hole 12j of the other shaft 12.

Abstract: A low-friction slide apparatus for use with the translation stage of an optical disc recording/playback system is disclosed. The apparatus includes a rail which is fixed in position. The rail includes porous strips affixed to two orthogonal sides along its longitudinal dimension. A plurality of passages between the rail and the porous strips permits air to be forced outwardly through the pores of the strip material. The slide member, which is movably mounted on the rail, has bearing surfaces adjacent the porous strips attached to the rail. Permanent magnets mounted along these bearing surfaces maintain an attractive force between the slide and the rail, countering the force direction of the air flow, thus providing a low-friction bearing film of compressed air. A linear motor included in the rail and slide member induces motion of the slide along the rail.

The flexibility of the ligaments confers freedom to the arm for angular displacement in the vertical and horizontal planes, but the skew prevents linear displacement along the direction of its length. The basal element is preferably immersed in a container of viscous liquid to damp movement of the arm.
