Receiving a notification from the payment processor, that payment processing has been completed. Transmitting an email message to the email address of the customer, that payment has been processed.

Abstract: Exemplary embodiments relate to techniques for providing more accurate counts relating to unread messages in a communications system. Conventionally, the unread count for an app may be inaccurate, because the local application does not synchronize its understanding of the unread messages with the server. In the described embodiments, both the server and the application inform each other of what they understand the unread count to be. The client also informs the server of when the local application is backgrounded and foregrounded. With this information, the server is able to update its badge count more accurately, and the local client is able to estimate how far off the server's count is. Using the techniques described herein, the server may inform the client of its badge-count understanding in a way that does not cause the application to wake up on the local device, thereby resulting in less battery consumption.

Abstract: The invention provides a system and method for analyzing a collection of communication messages. The communication messages may be any one of a collection of electronic mail messages, voicemail messages, instant messaging dialogs and other forms of communications. The collections of communications, such as electronic mail messages, may be selected by a user and then subsequently processed to determine the identity of any of the user's contacts within the communications. The contacts may then be arranged in a relative priority arrangement whereby contacts which have been identified as engaging in prior reciprocal communications with the user are given higher priority. Higher priority may also be given to contacts which engage in more recent communications with the user. Specific contact relationships may be inferred from the communications depending on whether specific contacts are repeatedly mentioned within the communication messages.

Abstract: According to an embodiment, an information processing apparatus includes: a first control unit to control a first device; and a second control unit to control a second device. The first control unit includes a first request processing unit, a notification unit, and a first execution unit. The second request processing unit receives a second request including an instruction to start a process of the second device. The notification unit notifies the second control unit that the first control unit receives a first request. The second execution unit executes a second request received by the second request processing unit when the first device is in the active state, and executes the second request stored in the storage unit when the notification is received by the notification receiving unit.

Abstract: A system and method for canceling a message sent to a recipient prior to retrieval by the recipient. A telephone call is received by a network from a calling party who desires to cancel a message left for a recipient through an earlier call from the calling party to the recipient after termination of the earlier call. By mapping the calling party's automatic number identifier (ANI) with at least one call record, a voice mailbox of the recipient may be accessed to determine whether the message has been retrieved by the recipient. If the message is still pending, the calling party is provided with the option to cancel the message. Alternatively, the calling party provides the telephone number from where the earlier call originated to a network server, which looks up the ANI of the originating number and then maps the ANI of that number with the at least one call record to enable the cancellation procedure.

Abstract: In one embodiment, an apparatus for a remote monitoring device is disclosed. The apparatus includes a casing to fit at least one of a storage location for storage media and handling mechanisms for the storage media, the storage location and the handling mechanisms being part of a media storage library, one or more monitoring devices within the casing to obtain from the media storage library at least one of environmental measurements and images of components in the media storage library, and a communication transmitter within the casing and communicatively coupled to the one or more monitoring devices to transmit at least one of data signals representing the at least one of environmental measurements and images of the components in the media storage library. Abstract: A method for filtering spam directed at mobile phones in a short message system (SMS). A short message includes message content, and both a mobile phone number and a first authentication code of a destination mobile phone. A second authentication code of the destination mobile phone is stored in a memory. The short message is received and the first authentication code and the second authentication code are extracted from the short message and the memory, respectively. If it is ascertained that the extracted first authentication code does not match the extracted second authentication code, then the short message is determined to be SMS spam and is prevented from being subsequently received by the destination mobile phone. Otherwise the short message is determined to not be SMS spam and is not prevented from being subsequently received by the destination mobile phone. An authentication apparatus within the SMS performs the method.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a system and method to telephonically access information related with items printed on a physical document, simply by touching with a finger items marked on the physical document or on any other physical surface. The system includes a touch foil placed over (or under) the document, for reading the coordinates of selected marked items, a telephone set for receiving the coordinates of the items selected by the user and for dialing to an interactive voice response (IVR) service used for accessing and retrieving selected hyperlinked documents from the web through a documents proxy server, for converting retrieved documents to synthesized speech, and for providing to the user through the telephone network, the selected documents that have been converted into speech.
