Patent number: 7266054Abstract: In a method of recording real-time information on an information carrier, e.g. audio on an optical disc, the real-time information is compressed to units comprising a variable amount of compressed data, and playback parameters are determined in dependence of the compressed data. The playback parameters comprise an access list (Main_Acc_List) having entries, each subsequent entry being assigned to a subsequent interval of a fixed playback time and comprising a pointer (Entry[N]) to a unit within said interval. In a player the real-time information may be accessed at a selected point of playing time. The corresponding entry in the access list is determined by dividing the selected time by the interval. Patent number: 6807132Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for servo-controlling when a reproduction is requested to a multi-session disk for non-real-time data or real-time data of audio or video stream. This servo-control method using the information of table of contents reads information of a table of contents written in a disk when a data-requesting command is received from a connected host; distinguishes the type of data recorded in a target location based on the read information of the table of contents; checks whether the distinguished type is corresponding to the command type; and re-sets or maintains current parameters for servo-control operation if the distinguished type is matched to the received command, so that a servo-control mechanism is adjusted to the type of the requested data before a pickup starts to move to the target location.Type: GrantFiled: September 1, 2000Date of Patent: October 19, 2004Assignee: LG Electronics Inc.Inventor: Hyo Jun Lee

Patent number: 6665248Abstract: A voice file consists of a plurality of data blocks. Each data block is composed of a plurality of sectors. Playback time information on voice data recorded in the sector is stored in the sector header. A control device creates a management file having the playback time for each block recorded therein from the information on this sector header, and stores it in a RAM or storage medium. When an arbitrary playback time is specified by an input device, which of the data blocks having the specified playback time positioned therein is retrieved by referring to this management file. Then, the playback times of voice data in sectors are calculated sequentially from the first sector of the data block. A sector in which a sum between the calculated playback time and a playback time up to a data block immediately preceding the retrieved data block is coincident with the specified playback time is retrieved, and access to the sector is provided.Type: GrantFiled: March 9, 2000Date of Patent: December 16, 2003Assignee: Olympus Optical Co., Ltd.Inventors: Takafumi Onishi, Hiroaki Miura

Patent number: 6587422Abstract: For an overwriting operation, recorded data is read from a disk, and a bit clock is reproduced from the read, recorded data in a clock reproduction circuit (7). Data processing in an encoder (14) is performed in synchronism with the reproduced bit clock. With the above, recording data is output from the encoder (14) in synchronism with the recorded data in the disk whereby recording data to write onto the disk for overwriting is synchronized with the recorded data. A defined recording region is thus precisely overwritten.Type: GrantFiled: February 11, 2000Date of Patent: July 1, 2003Assignee: Sanyo Electric Co., Ltd.Inventor: Akira Tsukihashi

Patent number: 6577563Abstract: When overwrite inhibiting is directed, flags (oblique lines in FIG. 4) for indicating the overwrite inhibiting are set in all the sectors between a sector 51 in which the overwrite inhibiting is directed in a buffer area and a certain preceding sector 52 and also, decoding is continued from the next sector 53 of the overwrite inhibiting area. At this time, when buffering is completed to the one preceding sector 50 of the overwrite inhibiting area, the buffering jumps the overwrite inhibiting area and is continued from the next sector 53 of the overwrite inhibiting area. Also, in decoding, when a special reproducing mode is directed, a decoding position (a position of a sector 54) at that point in time is stored as the present position and thereafter, the decoding of the overwrite inhibiting area is performed.Type: GrantFiled: October 20, 2000Date of Patent: June 10, 2003Assignee: Funai Electric Co., Ltd.Inventor: Atsushi Iwamoto

Patent number: RE41687Abstract: A disk calibration and search method in a disk drive is provided, in which, after an initialization step, a pickup is jumped to a first position and moved radially in a predetermined direction in response to pulses generated by a frequency generator. During this radial movement the number of tracks crossed are is counted. The counting is continued until a predetermined number of the pulses generated by the frequency generator have been generated. A calculated frequency generator track number is then obtained by dividing the counted number of tracks by the predetermined number of pulses generated by the frequency generator, i.e., calculating a unit track number of the disk per a single movement of the pickup, that is, the number of tracks the pickup moves per pulse generated by the frequency generator. The calculated frequency generator track number is stored in memory used to control the frequency generator for jumping the pickup during a search for a target track.Type: GrantFiled: September 15, 2000Date of Patent: September 14, 2010Assignee: Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.Inventor: Ki-Bong Yun
