  • Patent number: 6788359
Abstract: A method for illuminating a liquid crystal display device, a back-light assembly for performing the same and a liquid crystal display device using the same can improve the front luminance and production yield. Lights from a lamp is incident to a LCD panel side, which are then primarily diffused for a uniformity of the luminous flux of the incident lights. The luminous flux of the primarily diffused lights is condensed with respect to a first orientation component on a plane in parallel with the LCD panel, and then partially and secondarily diffused for extending a view angle of pixels of the LCD panel. After the luminous flux of the secondarily diffused lights is condensed with respect to a second orientation component perpendicular to the first orientation on the parallel plane, the condensed lights are illuminated onto the LCD panel.

  • Patent number: 6092232
Abstract: A disk data reproducing apparatus and a disk data reproducing method for carrying out error correction at fixed intervals independent of demodulation rate fluctuations caused by variable disk revolutions during access, whereby the reliability of error correction is improved. Data are demodulated by use of a regenerative clock signal acquired in keeping with the input data rate, whereas error correction is conducted at a fixed frequency clock signal. Two counters are provided, one being incremented by a signal generated upon detection of a block top, the other counter being incremented by a signal generated when a block of erroneous data is corrected. The two computers are compared in contents so that depending on the result of the comparison, an error correction start signal is generated. Error correction is performed always at fixed intervals regardless of the velocity of reproduction being standard, doubled, quadrupled, or multiplied by a factor of j (j: natural number).

  • Patent number: 6031807
Abstract: A read/write head in a recording and retrieval system and method of operating the read/write head are disclosed. The read/write head contains two inductive sections coupled to a switch. During a read operation, the switch is open connecting the sections in series and maximizing the inductance of the read/write head to produce a better read operation. During a write operation the switch is closed connecting the sections are in parallel to reduce the inductance of the read/write head to produce a better write operation. The switch is controlled by the R/W.sub.-- signal of the recording and retrieval system. The inductance of the inductive sections can be modified to optimize the read and write operations.

  • Patent number: 5615192
Abstract: A recording-reproducing apparatus can remarkably relax the reproduction tracking accuracy by use of a head wider than the track width. The carrier signal frequency assigned to a recording track is designated to a synthesized signal generator. In compliance with this designation, the synthesized signal generator generates a signal of the designated frequency. This carrier signal is amplitude-modulated by the baseband signal to be recorded in a mixer. The unrequired frequency components are removed from this modulation signal by a bandpass filter, and the resulting signal is recorded in a recording medium by a head. The recording medium and the head are in relative motion. In read mode, a track is specified by the carrier signal.

  • Patent number: 5609487
Abstract: An audio visual karaoke system using a karaoke audio cassette to which high frequency signals have been added containing specific data information. In the audio player, these high frequency signals are separated from the audio signals by a high pass filter ("HPF"). Using a data converter, the high frequency signals are converted into data information. Subsequently, this data information is processed by a microprocessor and a display controller to generate lyrics or other information, which are displayed on a display device.

  • Patent number: 5523996
Abstract: The present invention comprises a method and apparatus for recording digital audio information using light modulation of a laser beam on cinefilm. In the invention, a laser beam of low coherence and high output is radiated from a semiconductor laser having a wide radiating area, modulated within the depth of focus of the laser beam, and then illuminated on a sound track of a cinefilm. In one embodiment the laser beam is bifurcated into first and second beams using a diffraction lattice. The invention shortens the recording time for voice data, reduces speckle noise, and eliminates the need for polarizing plates, thereby simplifying the structure and reducing the production costs of the recording apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4891646
Abstract: A modulated single channel (as opposed to a quadrature channel) digital radio frequency memory (DRFM) system retrievably stores incoming radio frequency (RF) signals in a digital memory and replicates the RF signals at the output. The input RF signal to be stored is mixed with a local oscillator (LO) signal modulated with a waveform pattern to produce an intermediate frequency (IF) signal which is digitized and retrievably stored in the digital memory. The stored digital values are later retrieved from memory after the programmed delay time, and converted back to an analog IF signal and mixed with the local oscillator to produce the output RF signal. The LO signal is modulated with the same waveform used to produce the input IF signal. A controller for controlling the modulation of the LO signal and the memory includes a ROM for storing a pseudo random string of one bit words and an address counter to drive the ROM beginning at a starting address upon the occurrence of the input RF signal.
