Having Parallel Acoustic Paths Patents (Class 369/82)
  • Patent number: 6469890
Abstract: A mounting device (10) for mounting a hard disk drive (HDD) (90) to a computer enclosure (100) includes a support bracket (12) for attaching the HDD thereto and a securing plate (14). The support bracket has a body (20) with spring fingers (22) for engaging with the computer enclosure, and the securing plate has a base (40) for engaging with the body of the support bracket. The support bracket has a pair of side walls (30), with through holes (32) defined therein, depending vertically from opposite edges of the body. The securing plate includes a spring portion (50) extending from one edge of the base, and a pulling portion (70) with a slot (72) defined therein extending from the opposite edge of the base.

  • Publication number: 20020097556
Abstract: The present invention relates to a shockproof device of a hard disk drive in which a plurality of springs are mounted on slide rail seats at sides of hard disk drive of notebook computer in order that the hard disk drive is disposed in a hanging arrangement. Besides, the inner five sides (except the hard disk drive extraction side) of the hard disk drive housing are provided with shock-absorbing blocks for improving the shockproof function. In addition, two sides of the hard disk drive housing are fitted with the slide rail seats for the convenient extraction of the hard disk drive. Accordingly, a better shockproof effect is achieved.

  • Patent number: 6400563
Abstract: A notebook computer base housing has operatively disposed therein a CD ROM drive, a hard disk drive and a floppy disk drive, an AC/DC electrical power converter, a modem, a PCMCIA card bay structure and a battery. This internal provision of three drive units in addition to the other equipment within the base housing is facilitated from a space standpoint by the vertical stacking of the hard disk drive atop the CD ROM drive within the base housing. To dissipate the operating heat from these components within the base housing, a heat spreader plate is interposed between the CD ROM drive and the overlying hard disk drive, and the high heat-generating components—namely, the modem, the AC/DC converter, the PCMCIA card bay structure, and the computer processor—are closely grouped together, with the AC/DC converter in thermal communication with a second heat spreader plate.

  • Patent number: 6101559
Abstract: A method and apparatus which indicates the physical location of one or more peripheral devices. A system operator uses an input device to select an icon that is displayed on a display device. The icon represents a single peripheral device or a group of peripheral devices among a plurality of peripheral devices. For example, an icon may represent a disk drive, a group of disk drives disposed within a storage unit, an array of disk drives, an array of disk drives disposed within one or more storage units, etc. After the system operator selects the icon, an indicator light associated with each of the one or more peripheral devices represented by the icon illuminates to identify the physical location of the selected peripheral device or devices. Other peripheral devices are contemplated, such as a bank of modems, floppy drives, CD-ROM drives, etc.
