  • Patent number: 7627964
Abstract: A soil spreading scraper device comprises a cutting blade for cutting a top layer of soil from the ground, a kicker for throwing the cut soil rearward from the cutting blade, and an impeller member rotatable within a plane of rotation extending upward and rearward from the cutting blade for capturing the soil thrown by the kicker and spreading the cut soil generally radially outward relative to an axis of rotation of the impeller. A gearbox which receives power from a power takeoff of a towing vehicle directly drives the rotation of the impeller member in the preferred embodiment. The blades of the impeller members may include recessed portions adjacent the impeller axis in some embodiments to encourage soil being received in the impeller member even at higher rates of rotation, for example in the range of 250 to 320 RPM.

  • Patent number: 6513267
Abstract: A snow removing machine equipped with a snow removing plate is disclosed. The snow removing plate is mounted to a front portion of a vehicle body which forms part of the snow removing machine. An operating handle having grip portions is mounted to a rear portion of the vehicle body and obliquely extends upward. A battery, an electric motor and a power transmission mechanism are located below a linear line intersecting between an upper end of the snow removing plate and the grip portion. This causes the battery, the electric motor and the power transmission mechanism to be located below a view line of an operator when he looks at the snow removing plate, avoiding the view line from being disturbed to allow the operator to look at the upper end of the snow removing plate in his working attitude for thereby providing ease of operation of the snow removing machine.

  • Publication number: 20020020083
Abstract: An improved single-stage snow thrower including a wheeled frame assembly for supporting the snow thrower upon a ground surface and a driven impeller capable of being placed in ground contact to forwardly propel the snow thrower across the ground surface. A handle assembly including a user interface is further provided to permit the operator to selectively control the normal force associated with the driven impeller, and thus selectively control the propulsive drive force of the snow thrower. A bail control assembly may be provided upon the handle to permit the operator to selectively control a downward movement of the impeller to selectively control the degree of impeller ground contact.

  • Patent number: 6154985
Abstract: A device is disclosed, for use with a snow blower being of the type having an auger, and allow it to operate while moving backwards. The device principally consists of a concave blade mounted on a snow blower, which pivots between an operative position where the blade extends close to ground and the concave surface of the blade extends in front of the auger in such a way that the blade scrapes the snow and directs it towards the auger when the snow blower is lifted up to let the snow pass under it and moves backwards, and an inoperative position where the blade is raised to a height sufficient to let the snow reach the auger when the snow blower moves forwards. A snow blower equipped with a device as defined above, for operating while moving backwards, is also disclosed as well as a method for blowing snow with a snow blower equipped with that device.

  • Patent number: 5850883
Abstract: A new windrow auger composter that is adapted for attachment to the blade of a tractor for breaking up, aerating, and rebuilding a windrow. The inventive device includes a housing adapted for attachment to the blade of the tractor such that the housing extends upwardly from the top edge of the blade when attached thereto. An auger assembly is supported for rotation by the housing, and includes a plurality of blade members spaced along the length of the housing and disposed at an angle relative to a longitudinal axis of the auger assembly. A drive assembly is provided to rotate the auger assembly in a direction such that material contacted by the auger assembly is thrown up in the air and to one side of the composter so that the material forms a windrow at that side. When used on human and animal waste, drying time is reduced, and oxygen incorporation is increased to facilitate bacteriological action on the waste material.

  • Patent number: 5513453
Abstract: A combined snow plowing and snow throwing vehicle includes an elongate plow blade at its forward end. The plow blade can be shifted to direct snow to either of the right or the left and includes separate snow throwing fans mounted, respectively, at the right and left ends of the plow blade. A user-actuable control system provides independent actuation of the snow throwing structures so that the snow throwing structure at the downstream end of the plow blade is actuated regardless of whether the plow is directing snow to the right or to the left. This enables the vehicle to plow and throw snow to either the right or to the left and further enables the vehicle to clear snow while traveling both up and down an airport runway.
