  • Patent number: 10491524
Abstract: A system for implementing load balancing schemes includes one or more processing units, a memory, and a communication fabric with a plurality of switches coupled to the processing unit(s) and the memory. A switch of the fabric determines a first number of streams on a first input port that are targeting a first output port. The switch also determines a second number of requestors, from all input ports, that are targeting the first output port. Then, the switch calculates a throttle factor for the first input port by dividing the first number of streams by the second number of streams. The switch applies the throttle factor to regulate bandwidth on the first input port for requestors targeting the first output port. The switch also calculates throttle factors for the other ports and applies the throttle factors when regulating bandwidth on the other ports.

  • Patent number: 10128985
Abstract: In a serial communication interface with transceivers that run on different clocks, an ACK transmit FIFO is used to track packets transmitted, and an ACK receive queue is used to track ACK bits for received packets. The ACK receive queue contains a number of entries, and training for the transceivers begins transmitting ACK bits from the ACK receive queue once the ACK receive queue has multiple valid ACK bits. When the ACK receive queue is less than a lower threshold, an ACK compensation mechanism sends one or more packets that make the ACK receive queue grow. When the ACK receive queue is more than an upper threshold, the ACK compensation mechanism sends one or more packets that make the ACK receive queue shrink. The combination of the ACK receive queue and the ACK compensation mechanism allow dynamically compensating for the different clocks of the two transceivers.

Abstract: A method of controlling transmission of data units in a network node includes receiving a current fragment of a data unit at the network node, the data unit having been fragmented into an ordered sequence of fragments prior to the current fragment being received at the network node. The method also includes determining, at the network node, whether the current fragment is expected. Determining whether the current fragment is expected includes determining a position of the current fragment within the ordered sequence of fragments. The method also includes, in response to determining that the current fragment is expected based on the determined position of the current fragment within the ordered sequence of fragments, transmitting the current fragment via a network link.

  • Patent number: 9118585
Abstract: In an optical transport network a traffic flow comprises data grouped into a number of resizable data units, encapsulated by optical transport frames, each having a frame overhead. A rate of the traffic flow is changed by changing the data unit overhead and changing at the source node the frame overhead to indicate a change in rate of an optical signal carrying the traffic flow. An optical transmission part is tuned to transmit at the new rate, and at any intermediate nodes along the route the indication of the change in rate is detected in the frame overhead so that the traffic flow on a next optical link is transmitted at the new rate. Thus optical bandwidth allowed for enlarging the data units, can be saved, and electrical processing of data units at the nodes can be simplified, reducing power consumption.

  • Patent number: 8971189
Abstract: Methods and devices for logically segmenting an LSP so that OAM DTUs may be used to determine the performance and/or the status of LSP segments. To segment a previously determined LSP, a dedicated subpath (a logical LSP) within that predetermined LSP is defined between two LSRs that are capable of processing OAM DTUs. The source node (source LSR) establishes a logical LSP between itself and the destination node (destination LSR) using an LDP. In doing this, the logical LSP traverses a specific path and transits through specific nodes in that path. The source node then transmits an OAM DTU or any other specialized DTU to the destination node using a label specifically associated with the logical LSP that was established. The characteristic of the specific path traversed by the logical LSP can thus be determined by when, how, and if the specialized DTU is received by the destination node.

Abstract: A spatio-temporal random voting scheme is provided that incorporates location distribution, spatial randomness, and temporal randomness in the collection of information from a plurality of sensing devices within the cognitive network. The region is divided into a plurality of sectors, where each sector is a portion of the region. A subset of sectors is selected from the plurality of sectors in the region to provide spatial randomness. A device is randomly selected from each sector in the subset of sectors to provide additional spatial randomness to the information collection process. Temporal randomness may be introduced by randomly selecting a timeslot within a sensing window period in which devices are to scan a frequency spectrum band to determine if a signal energy above a threshold is detected. Sensing reports are then collected from the selected sensing devices and used to determine whether the frequency spectrum band is available or in use.
