Abstract: A method for data transmission in a local are network, wherein data is transmitted on the Media Access Control (MAC) layer within successive time frames between a plurality of first nodes comprising client nodes to a second node comprising a coordinator node for the plurality of first nodes. A synchronizing slot for sending a synchronizing message from the second node to the first nodes includes acknowledgements for time slots used for data transmissions in previous time frames from the first nodes to the second node. The acknowledgements indicate whether a data transmission in the previous time frame was successful. Based on these acknowledgements, retransmission time slots included in the current time frame are used for retransmitting data that have not been transmitted successfully in a time slot of the previous time frame.

  • Patent number: 8792341
Abstract: A method and apparatus for reporting events in a machine-to-machine environment are provided. Upon detection of an event, a determination is made whether to report the event with or without a delay. If the event is to be reported with a delay, then reporting is delayed for a period of time. If an event notification is received prior to the expiration of the delay period, then the reporting of the event may be canceled as event has already been reported by another element. If not, then another determination is made whether to report the event with or without another delay. This process continues until either the event has been reported or an event notification corresponding to the event has been received from another element.

Abstract: According to one embodiment, a failure detection apparatus includes a communicator, a selector, an execution unit, and a determiner. The communicator communicates with a wireless terminal mounted on a moving object via at least one of first bridge devices located at predetermined positions. The selector selects second bridge devices from the first bridge devices. The execution unit executes test connections to the wireless terminal using the second bridge devices. The determiner determines that the wireless terminal is inoperative if the test connection via any of the second bridge devices has failed.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method for forwarding a protocol frame in spanning rings, applied to the Ethernet ring network including a crossed or tangent ring and sub-ring. The method comprises steps as follows: when an interconnection node of the ring and the sub-ring receives a protocol frame from a sub-ring, if the topology of the sub-ring is changed, the interconnection node updates its address forwarding table according to the address updating information carried in the protocol frame, and sends the address updating information to the ring; the nodes of the ring update their address forwarding table respectively according the updating information. The present invention selectively sends information of sub-ring protocol frame to the ring via the interconnection node of the ring and the sub-ring.

  • Patent number: 8750134
Abstract: A management computer has: a storage unit in which a route information indicating a transfer route of frames in the communication network is stored; and a monitoring unit. The monitoring unit refers to the route information to transmit a frame to the transfer route and performs identification processing that identifies a location of a failure on the transfer route. First to N-th nodes (N is an integer equal to or more than 3) line up in order along the transfer route. The i-th node (i=1 to N?1) forwards a received frame to the (i+1)-th node, and the N-th node forwards a received frame to the management computer. In the identification processing, the monitoring unit sets at least one node between the first node and the N-th node as an insertion node. Then, the monitoring unit transmits a frame to the insertion node each, and identifies the location of the failure based on reception state of a frame from the N-th node.

  • Patent number: 8743679
Abstract: Diversity constraints with respect to connections or links in a client layer are conveyed to a server layer where those links or connections are served by paths in the server layer. A network device in the server layer stores data associated paths in the server layer with identifiers for connections in the client layer. The network device in the server layer receives from a network device in the client layer a request to set up a path in the server layer for a connection in the client layer. The network device in the server layer receives information describing the diversity requirements associated with connections in the client layer. The server layer network device computes a route in the server layer for the connection specified in the request based on the diversity requirements.

Abstract: A first communication node communicates by multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) wireless communications with a second communication node of a wireless communication system. The method includes receiving a Sounding Reference Signal (SRS) over a plurality of subcarriers transmitted by the second communication node for MIMO communications. Channel quality is measured responsive to the sounding reference signal to output a first channel quality value. A demodulation reference signal is received over a plurality of subcarriers transmitted by the second communication node for MIMO communications. Channel quality is measured responsive to the demodulation reference signal to output a second channel quality value. Reliability of the measurements of the first channel quality value and the second channel quality value is determined. The first and second channel quality values are combined while compensating for the determined reliability difference between the measurements to generate a combined channel quality value.
