Abstract: Peer-to-peer redundant file server system and methods include clients that determine a target storage provider to contact for a particular storage transaction based on a pathname provided by the filesystem and a predetermined scheme such as a hash function applied to a portion of the pathname. Servers use the same scheme to determine where to store relevant file information so that the clients can locate the file information. The target storage provider may store the file itself and/or may store metadata that identifies one or more other storage providers where the file is stored. A file may be replicated in multiple storage providers, and the metadata may include a list of storage providers from which the clients can select (e.g., randomly) in order to access the file.

Abstract: A computer-implemented technique can include joining, by a computing device having one or more processors, a conference session hosted by a server via a wireless computing network. In response to joining the conference session, the computing device can receive, from the server via the wireless computing network, a dial-in telephone number for reconnecting to the conference session. The computing device can detect a trigger condition indicative of a need to reconnect to the conference session via a cellular telephone network. In response to detecting the trigger condition, the computing device can initiate a telephone call to the dial-in telephone number via the cellular telephone network. In response to the server obtaining authentication of a caller identification of the computing device, the computing device can rejoin the conference session via the cellular telephone network.

Abstract: A method for generating a plurality of messages for inviting communication devices to a communication conference comprises: establishing a first communication conference with a plurality of first communication devices, receiving a plurality of communication device identifiers from a communication device participating in the first communication conference, which communication device identifiers identify the communication devices to be invited to at least a second communication conference, determining the communication devices from the plurality of the communication devices, which are already involved in the first communication conference, generating messages for inviting communication devices to a communication conference only for those communication devices which are not involved in another communication conference.

Abstract: Implementations relate to automatic configuration of endpoint communication devices to set up a communication network such as a VOIP network. In some implementations, a method includes a server receiving an extension request for device extension from an endpoint communications device connected to a communication network, mapping an identifier for the endpoint communications device to a device extension, and transmitting the device extension to the endpoint communications device.

Abstract: Systems and methods for obtaining availability status in respect of a plurality of user identifiers are provided. For each user identifier, a respective SIP cluster identifier is obtained. The user identifiers are then grouped according to SIP cluster identifier, each such group of user identifiers containing at least one user identifier for which the same SIP cluster identifier was obtained. For each SIP cluster identifier for which there is a group of user identifiers, a request is sent for availability status information in a single message to a SIP cluster associated with the SIP cluster identifier, the request containing the user identifiers of the group of user identifiers. A response to each single message is received in a single message containing availability status information for the user identifiers belonging to the group of user identifiers.

Abstract: To enable internet softphone users to join to calls hosted at an audio conferencing bridge, a SIP Invite may be received at a bridge interface layer of an audio conferencing system. Parameters of the SIP Invite may be extracted, e.g. from one or more X-header fields and processed to enable the internet softphone to be joined to an audio conferencing bridge. The bridge interface layer may receive a SIP Refer message from the audio conferencing bridge that indicates a second audio conferencing bridge external to the system. The bridge interface layer may forward the SIP Invite to the second audio conferencing bridge and the RTP media may be established through the session border controller (SBC) of the audio conferencing system.

Abstract: According to one aspect, the subject matter described herein includes a system for Diameter routing and firewall filtering. The system includes a Diameter signaling router comprising a network interface for receiving, from a first Diameter node, a first Diameter message having Diameter information. The Diameter signaling router also includes a firewall module for determining whether the first Diameter message satisfies a firewall policy. The firewall policy is based on at least a portion of the Diameter information in the first Diameter message. The Diameter signaling router further includes a routing module for forwarding at least a portion of the first Diameter message towards a second Diameter node in response to the first Diameter message satisfying the firewall policy.

Abstract: A method of handling a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) communication at a SIP application server within an IP Multimedia Subsystem, the method including handling a message received from a Serving Call/State Control Function node based upon a header of the message containing the URI of the served user. The SIP message is handled according to one of an originating case based upon a P-Asserted Identity contained in the SIP message or a terminating case using a Request-Uniform Resource Identifier (R-URI) of the SIP message, the appropriate case being identified in said header.

Abstract: A method of associating a first device with a second device is disclosed. The first device through its speaker broadcasts a request for association using an audio signal. The broadcasted audio signal is received by the second device through its microphone. The first and second devices then cooperatively verifies a security code and upon a successful verification of the security code, the first and the second devices are enabled to communicate with each other.

Abstract: Systems and methods for international dialing through a relay are provided. In an example embodiment, a communication is received at a server from a communication application installed on a device of a caller. The communication includes a destination number. A mapping of the destination number to a single call attribute is stored in a database of the server. A call to a pool number is received at the server from the caller. A determination is made of a call attribute from the call. Based on the call attribute from the call matching the single call attribute mapped to the destination number, the call is connected to the destination number.

Abstract: A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, a communication device having a controller to retrieve from an address book a communication identifier for each of a plurality of participants, determine from the address book a conferencing type for each of the plurality of participants, and initiate according to the conference type and the communication identifier of each participant a Voice over Internet Protocol conference call directed to communication devices of the plurality of participants. Abstract: In a network system including a mirror switch, a distribution device and a plurality of recording devices, a method for recording multimedia data is provided. The mirror switch sends communication data to the distribution device and the plurality of recording devices. The distribution device obtains multimedia data identification information from a signaling message included in the communication data, generates a recording instruction which includes the multimedia data identification information, and sends the recording instruction to the recording device to instruct the recording device to record the multimedia data.

Abstract: Speech and/or non-speech in an audio input are convolved to localize sounds to different locations for a user. An audio diarization system segments the audio input into speech and non-speech segments. These segments are convolved with one or more head related transfer functions (HRTFs) so the sounds localize to different sound localization points (SLPs) for the user.

Abstract: A Multicall telephony system has a first land-line telephone connected to a central switch in a land-line telephone network and a server executing SW on a processor from a non-transitory medium, the server also coupled to the land-line telephone system by a service telephone number. In operation a user dials the service telephone number, and when connected, dials two or more telephone numbers separated by delimiters and followed by a terminator character, and the server, executing the software, dials the two or more telephone numbers separated by delimiters in the call from the first land-line telephone, and connects answered calls in a conference with the call placed by the first land-line telephone.

Abstract: Some demonstrative embodiments include an apparatus, method and/or system of terminating a docking session between a mobile device and a docking device. For example, a mobile device may include a radio to communicate over a docking session via a wireless communication link between the mobile device and a wireless docking device; and an event classifier to determine a classification of an event of connectivity loss of the wireless communication link as an intentional disconnection or an unintentional disconnection, based on a comparison between at least one acceleration metric of the mobile device and at least one acceleration threshold, and to send to the wireless docking device an indication of the classification of the event of connectivity loss.

Abstract: A method receives a call from a device of a caller destined to a device of a subscriber of a communication network. The method connects the call to the device of the subscriber and then receives from the device of the subscriber an indication that the call is an undesirable call. The indication further includes a description of the call. The method then provides a reward to the subscriber when the indication further includes the description of the call.

Abstract: A method, non-transitory computer readable medium and apparatus for providing a communications service in a communications network are disclosed. For example, the method monitors a conference call, detects a triggering event during the conference call registered for a particular user, wherein the particular user is not a participant in the conference call, and notifies the particular user of the triggering event.

Abstract: Using switching technologies to duplicate packets of a digital stream (e.g., digital video stream) sent from one workstation to multiple recipient workstations, where the switching technologies enable the multiple streams sent from the switch to the recipient workstations to be generated from a single digital stream sent from the sending workstation to the switch. Data units, such as video data units, may be transmitted by using a switch to enable receipt of a stream of data units including a payload portion and an attribute portion from at least two conferencing participants. The switch is used to duplicate at least a subportion of the payload portion of a data unit within the stream of data units, and to enable access to the duplicated subportion of the data unit by two or more conferencing participants.

Abstract: A system and method are presented for predictive live interaction offering and hosting. A mechanism may be provided for controlling outstanding offerings, or invitations, of communications with users through points of service. Offerings may include a live chat or a telephone callback request. In one embodiment, offerings may be optimized by analyzing factors such as agent history to predict when and how many agents will be available. Calculations may be continuously performed as invitations are accepted, declined, timed out, etc., to make certain more offers than can be handled are not extended.

Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to a bandwidth adaptive communication event scheduling system. The system can provide an availability recommendation for a communication event based on bandwidth usage. A user can request to schedule a communication event at a future time based on the availability recommendation, and the system can determine whether to approve or deny the request based the details of the request and predicted or real-time bandwidth usage.

The method includes: displaying an interface for editing a conference call profile, the conference call profile including conference call scheduling information including one or more addressees for communicating with a conference call server, wherein the conference call scheduling information further includes a moderator access code and a participant access code; generating an indicator for the conference call profile for excluding sending of the moderator access code to invited participants; and storing the conference call profile including the indicator in a memory of the communication device. A communication device can be configured to perform the method.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a technique for selectively broadcasting content to a destination device. An operating system (OS) executing on a source device is configured to generate an OS user interface (UI) and execute a plurality of applications, where each application of the plurality of applications is configured to generate a respective application UI. The source device receives a selection of a broadcast profile that identifies at least one application of the plurality of applications whose respective application UI should not be displayed at the destination device. In response to receiving the selection, a configuration of the source device is updated to cause: 1) the OS UI, but not the application UI associated with the at least one application, to be broadcasted to the destination device, and 2) the OS UI, as well as the application UI associated with the at least one application, to be displayed at the source device.

Abstract: Techniques for peer-to-peer network sharing are described. In one embodiment, an apparatus may comprise a sharing control component and a local proxy component. The sharing control component may be operative to transmit an offer from the first mobile device to a second mobile device for the second mobile device to act as a proxy for the first mobile device for the performance of network services in return for a transfer of sharing credit from a first account to a second account with a sharing authority, the first account associated with the first mobile device, the second account associated with the second mobile device, and receive an offer acceptance from the second mobile device. The local proxy component may be operative to receive configuration information and configure the first mobile device to use the second mobile device as a network proxy using the configuration information. Abstract: Aspects relate to transcoding a video at substantially the same time as the video is streamed so that upon completion of streaming, the transcoded video is available for immediate download. The transcoding can be performed on a client device or on a host device. Portions of the video can be tagged such that only the tagged portions are transcoded and made available for downloading. The tagged portions can be merged into a single file. Notification of the availability of the video can be broadcast. The broadcast can be controlled so as to be a public notification or a selective notification that is broadcast to a specified set or sets of individuals. Further, video chats can be recorded and compared so that a downloaded version of the video chat is an enhanced version of the information rendered on a user device.

Abstract: Methods and systems for creating mobile conference rooms for conference calls between client devices and one or more contacts are described herein. A server receives, from the client device, a request to create a mobile conference room. The server creates the mobile conference room by assigning a phone number to the mobile conference room. After notifying the client device, the server receives data regarding one or more contacts to add to the mobile conference room. The server receives, from the client device, a request to initiate a conference call with a subset of contacts. A call is received, from the server, concurrently by each of the subset of contacts. The server bridges the client device and the contacts that have answered the call on the conference call.

Abstract: Various embodiments process updates of an image transmitted between a first terminal and second terminal for screen sharing, wherein updates to the image at the first terminal are also displayed at the second terminal. The image is divided into an array of contiguous sub-tiles, each sub-tile comprising more than one picture element of the image. When a plurality of sub-tiles of the image have changed at the first terminal, at least one of said changed sub-tiles and at least one contiguous sub-tile are selected to form a tile. The tile is encoded for transmission to the second terminal, and includes sub-tile data identifying which sub-tiles are included in the tile to enable updating the image at the second terminal in accordance with the changes to said changed sub-tiles. The configuration of the tile is flexible such that the number of contiguous sub-tiles encoded in the tile can be varied.

Abstract: Described are embodiments of methods, apparatuses, and systems for multi-protocol tunneling across a multi-protocol I/O interconnect of computer apparatus. A method for multi-protocol tunneling may include establishing a first communication path between ports of a switching fabric of a multi-protocol interconnect of a computer apparatus in response to a peripheral device being connected to the computer apparatus, establishing a second communication path between the switching fabric and a protocol-specific controller, and routing, by the multi-protocol interconnect, packets of a protocol of the peripheral device from the peripheral device to the protocol-specific controller over the first and second communication paths. Abstract: A system and method for enhancing visual representation to individuals participating in a conversation is provided. Visual data for a plurality of individuals participating in one or more conversations is analyzed. Possible conversational configurations of the individuals are generated. Each possible conversational configuration includes one or more pair-wise probabilities of at least two of the individuals. A probability weight is assigned to each of the pair-wise probabilities having a likelihood that the individuals of that pair-wise probability are participating in a conversation. A probability of each possible conversational configuration is determined by combining the probability weights for the pair-wise probabilities of that possible conversational configuration. The possible conversational configuration with the highest probability is selected as a most probable configuration.

In some embodiments, a method may include creating a virtual collaboration workspace for a plurality of participants, where each of the participants operates a device configured to access the workspace, the workspace including a public portion and a plurality of private portions, the public portion accessible to each of the participants and each of the plurality of private portions accessible to a corresponding participant to the exclusion of at least another participant. The method may also include providing, to a given one of the participants, a representation of the public portion and a representation of the given participant's corresponding private portion, where the representation of the public portion and the representation of the given participant's corresponding private portion are renderable concurrently in a single window of a graphical user interface displayable by the given participant's device.

Abstract: Generally, disclosed is an automatic messaging system for providing a text or other message to a third party that notifies said party when a person has been arrested and is being held in police custody. Also disclosed may be a system employing software that will alert a family member whenever a loved one has been incarcerated. In one embodiment, a user can sign up for a service so that the user's name and information will be entered into an information database and used to monitor hundreds of public police arrest records from various localities wherein, if the user is arrested and incarcerated, then the service will automatically send a notification to a designated contact, such as the user's attorney, family member, or friend.

Abstract: System and method involving user interfaces and remote control devices. These user interfaces may be particularly useful for providing an intuitive and user friendly interaction between a user and a device or application using a display, e.g., at a “10 foot” interaction level. The user interfaces may be specifically designed for interaction using a simple remote control device having a limited number of inputs. For example, the simple remote control may include directional inputs (e.g., up, down, left, right), a confirmation input (e.g., ok), and possibly a mute input. The user interface may be customized based on current user activity or other contexts (e.g., based on current or previous states), the user logging in (e.g., using a communication device), etc. Additionally, the user interface may allow the user to adjust cameras whose video are not currently displayed, rejoin previously left videoconferences, and/or any of a variety of desirable actions.

Abstract: Computer program code receives input information for setup a video conference, and attributes of participants associated with one or more video endpoints in the video conference. The program code parses the input information to determine whether there are video data streams available for broadcast, and parameters in an access control file granting one or more of the participants a right to control which of the video data streams available for broadcast they view. The program code extracts parameters from the input information. The program code stores the parameters that are extracted as metadata. The program code compares the metadata with the attributes of the participants associated with the one or more video endpoints to determine matches. The program code requests a multipoint control unit to send one or more of the video data streams based on the access control file, criteria specified by the participants, and the matches determined.

Abstract: A unified communications (UC)-based video conference call method and system, and a device, where receiving, by a first UC client, a request for querying call information of a second video conference terminal (VCT), where the request includes an identifier of a called contact; sending the query request to a UC server, and receiving the call information of the second VCT; and sending, by the first UC client, the call information of the second VCT to a first VCT, hence the first VCT initiates a video conference call to the second VCT according to the call information of the second VCT. By integrating a personal computer (PC)-based UC system with a hardware video conference system that is based on a digital signal processor (DSP) and embedded software, a high-quality video conference can be initiated and held using a UC client, thereby boosting user experience and enhancing product competitiveness.

Abstract: Operating a receiver communication device during a real time communication session including a real time media content data stream provided by another communication device may include receiving the real time media content data stream of the communication session from the other communication device wherein packets of the real time media content data stream include an identification of the real time media content data stream. A pause request may be transmitted from the receiver communication device to the other communication device with the pause request including the identification of the real time media content data stream and a pause request sequence number. After transmitting the pause request, a pause acknowledge message may be received from the other communication device with the pause acknowledge message including the identification of the real time media content data stream and the pause request sequence number. Related devices and methods are also discussed.

Abstract: Systems and methods for conducting a multi-endpoint video signal conference are provided. Conferencing endpoints are linked by pairs of a reliable and a less reliable communication channel. Conference video signals are scaleable coded in base layer and enhancement layers format. Video signal base layers, which correspond to a minimum picture quality, are communicated over reliable channels. The video signal enhancements layers may be communicated over the less reliable channels. A conference server mediates the switching of video layer information from transmitting endpoints to receiving endpoints without any intermediate coding or re-coding operations. The video conference can be integrated with an audio conference using either scalable coded audio signals or non-scaleable coded audio signals.

Abstract: A system includes a network interface for sending and receiving one or more of video data and audio data between two or more endpoints. One or more of a video data source and an audio data source located at more than one endpoint and a control unit for controlling one or more of the video data and the audio data between endpoints. The control unit is operable to execute instructions to specify more than one participant in a conference, wherein at least one participant is remotely located and invoke the conference upon receiving one or more requests to connect to the conference by one or more participants. The control unit is further operable to allocate resources upon the conference being invoked and connect participants to the conference.

Abstract: In a particular embodiment, a method includes receiving, by a first mobile device, a first discovery message via a network advertisement protocol common to a plurality of mobile devices. The first discovery message includes information specific to a mobile device cluster that is a subset of the plurality of mobile devices. The method further includes using the information to communicate with at least a second mobile device of the mobile device cluster using a second cluster protocol that is different than the network advertisement protocol.

Abstract: Mapping logic information associating a particular type of input with a particular response may be stored in memory. Data including information regarding a display of the host device may be received. Such information may be used to identify multiple descriptions of the host device display. Each description is mapped to a response based on the stored mapping logic. For example, a status bar may be used by the host device to show status updates. The map allows for a different type of response to status updates on the client device, such as a translucent pop-up window. Instructions may be generated for the client device, such that the client device response to input information is based on the mapped description.

Abstract: A teleconferencing system includes a plurality of teleconferencing servers, a plurality of teleconferencing terminals, and a specification server. The plurality of teleconferencing servers are configured to be connected to one another through a network. Each of the plurality of teleconferencing terminals are configured to conduct a teleconference by transmitting and receiving media data to and from one another. Each one of the plurality of teleconferencing terminals is configured to be connected to one of the plurality of teleconferencing servers. The specification server is configured to be connected to the plurality of teleconferencing servers and is configured to specify a recording server that is configured to record the media data.

Abstract: Video visitation systems and methods for correctional facilities include an audio/video processor element interconnecting an inmate station and a remote visitor station. The audio/video processor element adjusts audio and/or video feeds to facilitate monitoring by a plurality of officers at remote monitoring stations without experiencing network bandwidth and latency issues.

Abstract: Disclosed are a method, apparatus and system for interworking between H.320 or H.324 and SIP. The method comprises receiving a SIP message indicative of capabilities supported by a first endpoint device and deferring responding to the SIP message. The method further comprises receiving from a second endpoint device an H.320 or H.324 message indicative of the capabilities supported by the second endpoint device in response thereto responding to the SIP message thereby to establish a media communication channel between the first and second endpoint devices based on their respective capabilities.

Abstract: Operating a receiver communication device during a real time communication session including a real time media content data stream provided by another communication device may include receiving the real time media content data stream of the communication session from the other communication device wherein packets of the real time media content data stream include an identification of the real time media content data stream. A pause request may be transmitted from the receiver communication device to the other communication device with the pause request including the identification of the real time media content data stream and a pause request sequence number. After transmitting the pause request, a pause acknowledge message may be received from the other communication device with the pause acknowledge message including the identification of the real time media content data stream and the pause request sequence number. Abstract: A selective cell phone text messaging function disabling system prevents a cell phone user from text messaging while within a transmission zone. The user's cell phone text messaging functionality is turned off by a signal broadcasting system as the user enters a transmission zone. When the user exits the transmission zone, the cell phone resumes its texting capability, preserving text messaging functionality while the user is not within the transmission zone.

Abstract: Systems and methods for service execution across legacy telecommunications networks and Internet Protocol Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) domains are described. In one aspect, a convergence gateway is deployed in an IMS network to interface between the IMS network and a legacy circuit-switched (CS) telephony network (legacy network). The convergence server extends legacy network-supported circuit-switched services (including voice supplementary services, enhanced voice services, and messaging) to IMS core network subscribers. To this end, the systems and methods rely on the legacy network to implement supported circuit-switched services and generate corresponding results. The corresponding results are adapted to a signaling protocol and state model for the IMS network and provided to one or more IMS subscribers.
