Abstract: Provided is a method for multiple-termination routing in a wireless network environment that includes an Internet Protocol (“IP”) core. The method includes receiving a call delivery request. The call delivery request is based upon intelligent network protocols and includes a called number. The call features associated with the called number are retrieved, a determination is made whether the call features include multiple-termination routing information for a plurality of potential terminating devices, wherein at least one termination to be routed utilizes Session Initiation Protocol. When the call features include the multiple-termination routing information, call setups are initiated to each of the plurality of potential terminating devices. Upon detecting a first potential terminating device to complete one of the plurality of initiated call setups, any remaining initiated call setup or setups are released.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for enabling multiple services to be invoked in a specific precedence per call are disclosed. For example, the present method allows a subscriber to interact with a plurality of services provided by a service provider on a single call.

Abstract: Methods, devices, and systems are provided for marking one or more entities of a call as internal/external such that certain call features can be invoked by servers and other devices residing behind a gateway. More specifically, entities of a call can be marked as internal/external based employing an assessment algorithm to determine whether the calling endpoint is an internal or external endpoint and/or whether a user of the calling or answering endpoint is an internal or external user. Once this determination is made, the call can be marked accordingly such that the appropriate features can be invoked.

Abstract: A CTI-enabled SIP-Phone, and an associated method, is provided for a telephonic call center. Responsive to a call operation indication, such as delivery to the phone of a SIP invite message, or of a CTI-formatted call instruction, the embedded functionality of the SIP-Phone provides interfacing operations, such as CTI-to-SIP or SIP-to-CTI conversions, to facilitate communications of the phone at the call center.

Abstract: There is provided a transceiving method of an audio signal using an UWB wireless communication scheme, including the steps of: extracting and analyzing the beacon frames to generate reserved transmission interval information previously reserved by the other UWB transmitters and/or adjacent wireless audio transmitters and information on audio source and channel; calculating an available transmission interval for each channel of audio sources by using the information on the audio source and channel of the other UWB transmitters; generating and transmitting a beacon frame based on the reserved transmission interval and the audio source and channel information; transmitting the audio signal at the reserved transmission interval by audio source and channel units; extracting and analyzing the beacon frame to generate audio source and channel information and reserved transmission interval information; and providing the audio source and channel information to the user.

Abstract: A PT (Push-To) service among SIP based session services, and particularly, a method and terminal for establishing a PT session in order to allow a certain user to use a PT box service under control of a PT server in a SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) based service, are discussed. According to an embodiment, the method of providing a Push-To (PT) box service, includes storing, in a PT server, PT box setting information of a terminal; receiving, by the PT server, a session invitation directed to the terminal; and determining, by the PT server, a routing of the session invitation to a PT box for the terminal based on at least the PT box setting information.

Abstract: A service availability and pricing indication facility provides information about service options to a subscriber of mobile telecommunications services including IP-based services and non-IP-based services. The facility, which may be implemented in one or more components of a telecommunications service provider system, receives a notification including information based, at least partially, on a current location of the subscriber's mobile device. The facility uses this information to determine availability of an access point that allows for the mobile device to access IP-based services from the current location. If it is determined that at least one access point is available, the facility determines pricing associated with the subscriber utilizing the access point to conduct a communication using the mobile device and then provides information to the mobile device that allows the mobile device to present an indication of the availability of the access point and/or an indication of the pricing determination.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a charging method and system for a prepaid service. The charging method comprises the following steps that: a VPN charging management module presets different VPN package charging levels in the prepaid service, receives a calling request from a user terminal, and determines whether there is at least one VPN valid user in a calling terminal and a called terminal and determines whether this calling belongs to the preset different VPN package charging levels; and a VPN charging module charges the calling terminal or the called terminal which is a VPN valid user for this calling according to the VPN package charging level to which the calling terminal or the called terminal belongs, and ends this calling if the amount of the user terminal account is insufficient.

Abstract: In a computer system having a memory, a processor, and a network interface, a method for listening on multiple conferencing interfaces having the steps of loading a set of transport components into the memory; initializing each transport components of the set of transport components to listen on a particular conferencing interface using the network interface, each transport component of the set of transport components listening to a different conferencing interface; receiving an incoming call signal on the network interface having an incoming conferencing interface; processing the incoming call signal to detect the incoming conferencing interface; and launching an application based on the incoming conferencing interface.

Abstract: A mobile phone apparatus (10) includes a CPU (12), and when starting to record a PTT communication, the CPU (12) records voice data corresponding to a voice of a speaker in a flash memory (18). Furthermore, the CPU (12) records the identifying information of the speaker, a starting time of a speech and an ending time of the speech as an index in the flash memory (18) while recording the voice data. In all speaker reproduction, the voice data recorded in the flash memory (18) is reproduced from the top, and identifying information of the speaker that is being reproduced is displayed on the LCD monitor (30) according to the index. Abstract: A system and method for optimizing call setup latency for geographically dense groups including updating client location information using at least one application server while the client moves from one sector to another to provide a location update; identifying and updating parameters including location update information uniquely identifying a sector from which a client is receiving communication service; and determining at least one geographically dense call group; and choosing at least one designated responder to the at least call group. A client per cluster is selected as a designated responder for that cluster and when the server needs to set up a geographically dense group call, a random number is included corresponding to the designated responder for that group in a call setup message.

Abstract: In one embodiment, an enterprise network is provided that includes a mobility agent 150 associated with a switch/server 100 or 104. The mobility agent creates a visitor application record 172 associated with a second communication device 140b. The visitor application record is associated with a first subscriber. A second subscriber is normally associated with the second communication device, and the first subscriber with a first communication device 136a. In response to creating the visitor application record, the native communication device record is associated with a virtual communication device having the same public and/or private numbers as the second communication device 140b.

Abstract: A system and method for using the packet data service of a dispatch wireless communication network converts a subscriber's voice to a text message. The system employs offline conversion and verification of the converted text message prior to transmitting over the Internet via the packet data network of the dispatch system. The voice conversion to text is implemented within the mobile subscriber handset and thus requires no modification of the dispatch network.

An ITS comprising a client system having an Internet browser, and a server hosting a Web site, wherein a message is transmitted from the server to the client system based on the user's status with respect to Web site, the user seeking to establish a voice communication session. A telephony server, comprising an application program communicating directly with telephony hardware, and an application programming interface, wherein the application program includes a call function to an external program. An ITS, comprising a browser display having a hyperlink, the hyperlink communicating with a server, retrieving a user-related data, and initiating a voice communication with the user, wherein the user is charged for the communication.

Abstract: A system and method for improving the handling, management, and retention of particular accounts. An allowable calling number list is generated via a suitable mechanism such as a call center. The allowable calling number list is utilized by telephone number management server to manage inbound call access to suspended accounts. Account representatives are given access to the suspended numbers. Additionally, certain emergency inbound calls may be permitted from select numbers.

Abstract: A method, a system, a server, and a computer program product are provided for Multimedia Capability discovery of different user terminals. Unnecessary use of the radio interface is avoided based on a network storage, which is accessible without registration to find out about the calling as well as the called user's multimedia capabilities during a voice call. If there is a positive capability discovery result out of this for both users, the system sends a message to each of the user terminals that they should notify the users, e.g., by displaying an icon above a soft button. There is no need for establishing a packet switched session, which uses a lot of radio interface signalling, until the Multimedia Service capability of both subscribers and their user terminals is investigated and responded to both user terminals and their users.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for reducing the cost of long distance phone calls is disclosed. Accordingly, an originating phone network is operatively connected to a first intermediate point, and a receiving phone network is operatively connected to a second intermediate point. Each intermediate point is operatively connected to communicate via a data network. Users on the originating and destination phone networks may communicate based on virtual numbers. The virtual number is preferably within the local calling area of the originating phone network. The first and second intermediate points route calls to any geographic location, regardless of distance, over the data network based on the virtual number. This provides the advantage of allowing a user on the originating phone network to access a user at a distant location for a price that is substantially similar to the price of a local call.

Abstract: A button box provides additional keys that can be used in conjunction with a telephone. In one embodiment, a button box is configured by associating it with a telephone and by programming its keys. When a key on the button box is activated, a key press event is sent from the button box to the associated phone. The phone treats the key press event as if a key on the phone itself had been activated and forwards the event to the voice switch appliance associated with the phone. (Alternatively, the key press event is sent from the button box directly to a voice switch appliance.) The button box's user interface is controlled by a voice switch appliance.

Abstract: A telecommunications device and method for downloading content using Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) includes receiving a request for content to be downloaded using TDM. The content may be communicated in response to receiving the content request. In response to receiving a call request for use of a telephone line, a download status of the telephone line may be determined. If the download status of the telephone line is indicative of content being downloaded, the content may be suspended from being communicated to enable a call associated with the call request to be connected with the telephone line. Otherwise, if the download status of the telephone line is not indicative of content being downloaded, a call associated with the call request may be connected with the telephone line.

Abstract: The invention proposes a method for controlling a network comprising the steps of providing presence information to a user, wherein the presence information includes information regarding the presence of at least one other user in a network, and providing session handling information, wherein the session handling information includes information about how a session, which can be initiated to the other user, will be handled. The invention also proposes a corresponding network control device.

Abstract: A mobile communication terminal having a function of displaying a communication state and a method thereof are disclosed. The method of displaying a communication state in a case of a multiparty call using a mobile communication terminal having a plurality of display units includes displaying information on one calling party on a first display unit, and displaying information on the other calling party on a second display unit. Here, information on one calling party and information on another calling party can be switched with each other and displayed on the different display units, and therefore voice communication is possible between one or more of the parties at the same time.

Abstract: Rerouting apparatus for rerouting data including multimedia data. The apparatus is for association with electronic equipment and allows for routing the data to a device regarded as the most convenient for playing the media. The apparatus comprises an announcer device for indicating to surrounding equipment that associated equipment is available for rerouting, thereby to enable receipt of rerouted communications therefrom, and a scout device for scanning surroundings of the associated equipment to find out about compatible equipment in the vicinity, thereby to reroute communications thereto. The apparatus may be attached to any device having data processing capability, to enable rerouting of data and communications therebetween.

A server is maintained for storing requester identifiers and service provider identifiers. A records database is maintained for storing records of digital information for customers of the service provider in accordance with the requester identifiers. An initiation message is received from a requestor over the internetwork. A notification is sent of a requested two-way video session to an IP address corresponding to the service provider. After an acceptance is received from the service provider, signals are provided over the internetwork to enable the two-way video session between respective workstations of the requestor and the service provider. A respective record is retrieved from the records database corresponding to the requester. The respective record is forwarded to the IP address corresponding to the service provider.

To support the end-to-end testing, the ICs can include a multiplexing stage with means for deterministically mapping a plurality of input parallel data signals to at least one output serial data signal and/or a demultiplexing stage with means for deterministically mapping at least one input serial data signal to a plurality of output parallel data signals. When used in combination in a communication link, the means included in the multiplexing stage and demultiplexing stage deterministically map specific input parallel data signals to specific output parallel data signals.

Abstract: In one method and apparatus for blocking unwanted calls in a callback system, parameters associated with a callback request (e.g., the user device to which the call is to be directed, the IP address from which the request originated or an identifier of the source computer from which the callback request originated, the party from whom the call is requested) are tracked for each call. A decision to automatically block the requested callback is made based on one or more criteria based on a combination of these parameters, which may be a total over a period of time. In a second method, one or both of the parties to the callback is queried as to whether the callback is unwanted and, if so, one or more parameters associated with the request are blacklisted.

Abstract: A method for voice based communication between a number of mobile terminals of a telecommunication network, the method comprising the steps of creating a group of said number of terminals and storing group information in each of the number of terminals, recording a voice message in one of the terminals of the group, dispatching the voice message to the terminals of the group from the one of the terminals, and receiving the voice message at least all other terminals of the group. The step of creating a group of terminals further comprises the steps of coupling together a number of mobile terminals, initiating a group creation command from at least one of the terminals, sending predetermined information from terminal to terminal to each terminal of the number of terminals for forming a group information, and transmitting the group information to all of the terminals thus forming a group of the terminals.

Abstract: A majority of the IP packets sent from an IP network over a wireless network to a mobile station which is tethered to an electronic device, such as a laptop computer, are destined for applications running on the electronic device. The embodiments are for snooping and filtering incoming IP packets to delineate only those packets destined for mobile station applications, which greatly improves the processing efficiency of the mobile station. In particular, the CID fields of TCP/IP packets utilizing Van Jacobson compression techniques are snooped and filtered.

A controller maintains a set of predetermined “channels” having various voice quality settings, for example, related to codec selection, noise filters, jitter buffer size, echo cancellation, and the like. The user can select one of the channels and the connection will transfer over to using the parameters indicated. On subsequent uses, the new “best” channel can be the default or first selected.

Abstract: A context-aware service providing system according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention includes a plurality of context-aware service providers and a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) server. The context-aware service provider subscribes an SIP event for user context information based on subscriber information in the context-aware service. The SIP server manages information on the context-aware service provider (i.e., subscription requestor) and the context information obtained from the SIP event subscription request, obtains service terminal capabilities and context information of the user from SIP registration and SIP event publication of the user, and transmits SIP event notification including the context information of the user by selecting a context-aware service provider subscribing the SIP event corresponding to the context information obtained from the SIP registration and the SIP event publication.

Abstract: An exemplary method for mapping a network address translator on a packet based network that is between a client and a server comprises the steps of the client communicating a first message including a first client address to the server, the server extracting the first client address, and the server communicating a confirmation to the client including identifying data useful to identify the client to the server. Additional steps comprise the client communicating a mapper message to the server including the identifying data, the mapper message having external client address data when the server receives it, and the server extracting said identifying data and using it to identify the client. An additional step of comparing the external client address data to the first client address and using said comparison to map the one or more security devices is provided.

Abstract: A telephone system that allows multiplexing and demultiplexing plural group calls through simple operations is provided. The telephone system includes a conference trunk creating unit that creates a conference trunk as required and has a multiplexing/demultiplexing special number table prestoring a multiplexing special number and demultiplexing special number corresponding to plural group calls. After plural group calls start, if the multiplexing special number is input, a control unit causes the conference trunk creating unit to create a large-conference trunk, switches and connects the voices of plural group calls corresponding to the multiplexing special number to the large-conference trunk and starts the multiplexed group call.

Abstract: A late call forwarding method in the IMS centralized service. During a call setting up, an ICCF receives a call request from the CSCF serving the called user, called session A, and the ICCF acquires a called user's roaming number and initiates a call to the called user. After receiving the call request, the VMSC serving the called user triggers the late call forwarding service according its determination. A CAMEL service is triggered when the VMSC initiates a call to the forwarding target. The VMSC exchanges messages with the ICCF and informs the ICCE about session associated information and the forwarding reason. When the ICCF determines that the forwarding is needed, it sends a response to the session A does not send the response message, after a telecom application server (TAS) receives the indication, the TAS initiates a regular forwarding service.

Abstract: A multiplexing system having an input unit, a storage unit and control unit. The input unit receives data units corresponding to multiple source data streams and extracts packets from the data units. The control unit computes data rate estimates for the source data streams based on timestamps in the source data streams. The storage unit stores a packet count and previous timestamp value for each source data stream. The control unit computes a preliminary data rate estimate for a source data stream based on samples of a local clock if timestamps are not received promptly. The control unit also computes scheduling rates based on the data rate estimates. The scheduling rates are used to control the rates of allocation of data from the source data streams into a multiplexed output stream. The control unit computes scheduling rates in a way that avoids oversubscription of the output channel.

Abstract: A network intelligence provides stateless elemental device control to a plurality of network connected components. Selected ones of the network connected components may be associated with one another as an aggregate device and the state of each associated component may be maintained at the network intelligence in a logical model of the aggregate device. Service adapters in the network intelligence may represent this association of components to data network services as a single, multi-function device.

Abstract: A system and a method are provided for optimal Short Message System (SMS) encoding in a wireless communications device having SMS capabilities. The system includes an optimizing subsystem and an encoding subsystem. The optimizing subsystem accepts an SMS message, identification of available encoding formats, and information regarding wireless device resource encoding requirements, such as memory usage, for the available encoding formats. The optimizing subsystem evaluates the characters in the SMS message to identify which of the available encoding formats are usable for encoding the characters, determines a memory usage requirement, and selects, as the optimal encoding format, the usable encoding format having the lowest memory usage. The optimizing subsystem supplies an optimizing signal identifying the optimal encoding format. The encoding subsystem accepts the SMS message and the optimizing signal, and encodes the message in the optimal encoding format.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for providing protection against spam calls are disclosed. For example, the method receives a signaling message for setting up a call to a customer, and determines whether the call is from a caller that has been identified as being a spammer. The method processes the call using one or more filter rules for the customer, if the caller has been identified as being a spammer.

Abstract: A CD-ROM that records programs for setting up a general-purpose computer as an IP telephone terminal by using a CPU, a memory, an input, a network card, a sound card, and a CD-ROM drive except an HD drive, the program including parts for: making the computer start to deploy the programs in the CD-ROM over the memory by a CD-ROM boot method without booting from an HD; making the computer obtain user identification data respectively and correspondingly inputted by the users through the input; making the computer send the user identification data to a management server via a network based on a location data recorded onto the CD-ROM; making the computer receive an IP telephone terminal setup data sent from the management server via the network; and making the computer function as an IP telephone terminal by setting up the computer as such.

Abstract: A system includes a first wireless device (102) and a second wireless device (106), each having at least two communication modes—one for voice transmission and reception and one for data transmission and reception, and able to communicate wirelessly with each other. The system also includes a shared object between the two devices. During an ongoing conversation between a user of the first device (102) and a user of the second device (106), an object is exchanged between the devices. The devices, working within available manipulation capabilities, communicate manipulation instructions to one another on the data mode of communication. The instructions are carried out and the object is manipulated, providing a shared interactive quasi-real-time or real-time experience.
