Abstract: System and method embodiments are provided to achieve efficient Direct Mobile Communications (DMC) and device-to-device (D2D) communications for terminal based groups with improved spectrum efficiency, reduced interference, and virtual full duplex operation mode. The embodiments include a distributed mechanism for D2D communications that enables one or more cooperating UEs (CUEs) to help one or more target UEs (TUEs) with limited additional signaling overhead and relatively simple implementation. The mechanism comprises a grantless multi-dimensional multiplexing scheme that uses low density spreading (LDS) over time, frequency, and/or space domains to enable data forwarding between multiple half-duplex terminals or UEs while allowing the UEs to operate in virtual full-duplex mode.

Abstract: An eNodeB in a TDD system (100), comprising first and second transmitters (408-411), a first receiver (302; 402-405), a control unit (306, 416), and means (305, 415) for diverting part of a transmitted signal from the first and second transmitters (408-411) to the first receiver (302; 402-405). The diverting means (305, 415) are connected to the transmitter part via a switch function (308, 418) and the transceiver also comprises a delay component (304, 404. The control unit (306, 416) activates the switch (308, 418) when the output power of the transmitted signals falls below a threshold, and the delay component (304, 404) delays so that the diverted signals are received by the receiver part (303; 402-405) at a predefined point in time. The transceiver (300) comprises a comparison unit (307, 417) for comparing the diverted signals from the first and second transmitters after reception through the first receiver.

Abstract: Canceling distortion in the receive path of a radio is achieved by down-converting an RF transmit signal to cancel leakage and intermodulation noise in a receive path baseband or intermediate frequency signal. Cancelation may be combined with digital pre-distortion of the transmit signal. Processing may be applied to optimize cancelation. Further cancelation can be achieved by re-modulating the demodulated and error-corrected receive signal, and predicting distortion caused by the transmit path. The cancelation system may be calibrated using a test signal.
