Abstract: A system for converting digital data into a modulated optical signal, comprises an electrically controllable device having M actuating electrodes. The device provides an optical signal that is modulated in response to binary voltages applied to the actuating electrodes. The system also comprises a digital-to-digital converter that provides a mapping of input data words to binary actuation vectors of M bits and supplies the binary actuation vectors as M bits of binary actuation voltages to the M actuating electrodes, where M is larger than the number of bits in each input data word. The digital-to-digital converter is enabled to map each digital input data word to a binary actuation vector by selecting a binary actuation vector from a subset of binary actuation vectors available to represent each of the input data words.

  • Patent number: 10154445
Abstract: The present invention provides an AP handover method based on double wireless network interface cards. A mobile terminal actively scans the signal strength of an AP, compares the scanned signal strength with the signal strength of a currently accessed AP, and if the signal strength is greater than the signal strength of the current AP, starts handover; otherwise, continuously scans till the handover succeeds. To reduce the handover delay and in accordance with the characteristic that the moving paths are basically fixed in industrial application scenarios, the present invention provides a pre-learning mechanism, that is, before formal application, information such as the location of the AP and the handover sequence in the application scenario is learned and stored in a terminal node, so that specific scanning and handover can be implemented in formal application.

Abstract: The system and methods of the various embodiments enable fine grained network selection decisions. This may allow a mobile network operator, a cable operator, or a Wi-Fi network operator to define network selection rules that are not only based upon network availability, time, and location, but also on network signal strength, signal to noise ratio, link speed, and cellular network radio parameters. These rules may also be complimented with local device based policies and parameters, which may possibly be based on user preferences and/or network operator preferences. The system and methods of the various embodiments also prevent inadvertent Wi-Fi network selection decisions by incorporating a time threshold parameter which defines a time period for which a wireless device must have detected a specific Wi-Fi access point prior to performing network selection.
