  • Patent number: 10333887
Abstract: In one embodiment, a network device connected to an Internet Protocol (IP) network and a serial network scans an infrastructure of the serial network. Based on the scanning, the network device can determine one or more serial endpoints within the serial network infrastructure, and may then allocate an IP address to each of the one or more serial endpoints. The network device may then map received IP network traffic into serial protocol commands on the serial network for a destination serial endpoint having an allocated IP address corresponding to a destination IP address of the received IP network traffic, and may also bridge data present on the serial network from a sourcing serial endpoint into an IP message on the IP network with an indication of a corresponding allocated IP address of the sourcing serial endpoint, accordingly.

  • Patent number: 8767595
Abstract: Techniques for performing analysis of a cellular telephone signaling environment in the presence of interferers. The techniques do the analysis by employing a receiver to listen to the cellular environment during holes in the interference. The holes have a timing which differs from that used by the cellular telephone signaling environment and will thus over time overlap with structures of interest in the cellular telephone environment. The holes may be smaller than the structure of interest. The signals which the receiver hears in the holes are analyzed and combined to reproduce the structure. The combination may involve statistical methods and weighted decoding. The analysis obtains information which permits surgical attacks on individual wireless devices which are in the traffic state. Example applications of the techniques are given for the GSM and CDMA cellular telephone standards.

  • Patent number: 8711831
Abstract: A new design configuration of an RF-transceiver front end is proposed. The Power Amplifier (PA) output stage of the transceiver comprises a cascode circuitry of N-type transistors with open-drain-configuration. The cascode-transistor is acting as a common-gate-transistor, whose gate is controlled to block the transmitting-(TX) path. The Low Noise Amplifier (LNA) input stage uses a common-gate configuration of a p-channel MOS-transistor that is controlled by the voltage at the bulk terminal. Lifting the bulk potential of this PMOS-transistor above its source potential disables the receiving-(RX)-path. This design allows low cost implementation for TDMA-RF-transceivers especially for Bluetooth-Solutions. The number of external components is reduced. No additional TX/RX switch is required. The same port and the same matching elements for the antenna's bandwidth adaptation are used for both the TX-path and the RX-path.

Abstract: Transparent communication between iSCSI and FCoE end nodes is provided by a gateway device having iSCSI and FCoE network interfaces. The gateway allows end nodes of one protocol to communicate with end nodes of another protocol as if they were communicating with end nodes of the same protocol. The gateway accomplishes this by creating “ghost” end nodes for each protocol. For example, the gateway creates ghost iSCSI nodes corresponding to physical FCoE nodes, and ghost FCoE nodes corresponding to physical iSCSI nodes. A ghost end node of a particular protocol is able to communicate with native end nodes of that protocol as if it were a native end node, because the gateway translates packets sent from end nodes in their native protocol into the other protocol for receipt by corresponding ghost nodes, and vice versa.

The method comprises the steps of: attributing a first set of addresses to the interface devices on the communication link; attributing a second set of addresses to nodes connected to the sub-networks, the attribution of the second set being done independently from the attribution of the first set; checking whether there appears a conflict between an address of the first set and an address of the second set, and in the affirmative: changing the conflicting address of the first set to a non conflicting address. The invention also concerns a device for implementing the method as well as a method for detecting and transmitting packets to be transmitted over the link.

Abstract: A method and system for managing communications in a packet-based real-time media conference. A conference server determines whether a given conference session should operate in half-duplex mode or in full-duplex mode, and the server instructs at least one participating station accordingly. In the half-duplex mode of operation, for instance, a station may engage in an implicit floor control process, in which the station treats an incoming media stream as an implicit floor denial. On the other hand, in the full-duplex mode of operation, a station would not treat an incoming stream as an implicit floor denial.

  • Patent number: 7936685
Abstract: An intelligent fast switch-over network active tap system enables active monitoring of a network segment connected between network devices. A fail-safe relay subsystem is coupled between a pair of network ports, enabling transmission of network communications signals through a passive cross-connect between the network ports or through an active bridge subsystem. The active bridge subsystem is capable of independently establishing network links with the network devices, and a separate network link with a monitoring device. A controller manages operation of the relay and active bridge subsystems, including switches between passive and active network transmission through the tap system and to determine and establish the active network links subject to symmetric network link parameters and state. Thereby, the network link status of the connected network devices is preserved on switch between active and passive transmission and correctly reflected in the presence of link and power failures.

Abstract: A bidirectional communications interface is provided that connects a transmitter and a receiver, or a transceiver, to a transmission line. Under an embodiment, the bidirectional interface generates positive and negative polarity data signals using two separate differential amplifiers that receive differential signal pairs from each side of a differential link to the transmission line and the transmitter. The bidirectional interface controls common mode rejection in each of the separate differential amplifiers using bias signals generated in response to an output common mode feedback voltage from each of the differential amplifiers. An output amplifier combines the positive and negative polarity data signals to form single-ended output logic signals. The output logic signals represent data received on the transmission line, and are provided to the receiver.

Abstract: In a communication apparatus has a line control unit that controls connection with a communication line network, a communication unit transmits/receives data through the communication line network. A detection circuit detects one of a line voltage value and a line current value when the communication apparatus is connected to the line network. A memory unit stores multiple voltage-current characteristic curves defining relationships of line voltage values with respect to line current values satisfying a predetermined standard. An adjusting unit adjusts the line voltage value and the line current value so as to satisfy the predetermined standard based on one of the voltage-current characteristic curves stored in the memory unit. A selecting unit selects another voltage-current characteristic curve different from the one of the voltage-current characteristic curves from among the multiple voltage-current characteristic curves stored in the memory unit.

Abstract: A method of evaluating the characteristics of a subscriber loop associated with a customer modem comprises the steps of receiving line probing data from the modem and analyzing the line probing data to determine the circuit characteristics of the subscriber loop which relate to communication rate performance. The method generates a gain slope value as a function of the line probing data which is indicative of the length of the subscriber loop. The method also generates a loaded slope value as a function of the line probing data which is indicative of an inductive load on the subscriber loop. The method also generates an A/D value as a function of the line probing data which is indicative of an analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog conversion on the subscriber loop. The method then outputs an expected communication rate for the subscriber loop as a function of the gain slope, loaded slope, and A/D values, thereby providing a circuit analysis of the customer subscriber loop.
