Abstract: A bidirectional communications interface is provided that connects a transmitter and a receiver, or a transceiver, to a transmission line. Under an embodiment, the bidirectional interface generates positive and negative polarity data signals using two separate differential amplifiers that receive differential signal pairs from each side of a differential link to the transmission line and the transmitter. The bidirectional interface controls common mode rejection in each of the separate differential amplifiers using bias signals generated in response to an output common mode feedback voltage from each of the differential amplifiers. An output amplifier combines the positive and negative polarity data signals to form single-ended output logic signals. The output logic signals represent data received on the transmission line, and are provided to the receiver.

  • Patent number: 7720201
Abstract: In a communication apparatus has a line control unit that controls connection with a communication line network, a communication unit transmits/receives data through the communication line network. A detection circuit detects one of a line voltage value and a line current value when the communication apparatus is connected to the line network. A memory unit stores multiple voltage-current characteristic curves defining relationships of line voltage values with respect to line current values satisfying a predetermined standard. An adjusting unit adjusts the line voltage value and the line current value so as to satisfy the predetermined standard based on one of the voltage-current characteristic curves stored in the memory unit. A selecting unit selects another voltage-current characteristic curve different from the one of the voltage-current characteristic curves from among the multiple voltage-current characteristic curves stored in the memory unit.

Abstract: In a network of digital signal processor nodes connected in a peer-to-peer relationship, a data packet sent to a node causes a return transmission from that node. The requester digital signal processor sends a data packet to a target digital signal processor. Upon arrival at the target digital signal processor, its receiver drives the arriving request packet into an I/O memory and triggers a transmitter interrupt. Next, the pull interrupt causes the transmitter to execute on a next packet boundary the pull request packet. Finally, the execution of the pull request causes the transmitter to pull a portion of the local I/O memory and send it back to the requester digital signal processor. The same physical portion of the I/O memory is overlaid with two logical uses, a receiver channel and a transmitter code block.

  • Patent number: 6389496
Abstract: An initialization of local buses 14a to 14n, a definition of topology and a management of isochronous resources are performed for every local bus. Each of portals 12a to 12n includes an asynchronous packet discriminator 215 which discriminates an asynchronous packet sent by a terminal device and transfers it. The portals 12a to 12n discriminate asynchronous packets sent by terminal devices in order to acquire isochronous resources and secure isochronous resources on different buses. The portals 12a to 12n transfer isochronous packets to different local buses by associating a received isochronous packet with a plug on the bridge bus side and a plug on the local bus side with an isochronous channel on the bus. Thus, the utilization efficiency of bus resource in a serial bus network is improved and a packet sent from a terminal device can be transferred to a different bus.

  • Patent number: 6381223
Abstract: A ring-bus transition 100 is provided which for switching signals between inputs 140-144 and outputs 180-85. First, signals are received at a number of inputs 140-144. Each input is coupled to a demod 130-134. Each demod is coupled to a communication ring 151-160 which is in turn coupled to a bridge 190. Signals received at the inputs 140-144 are demodulated at the demods 130-134 and then sent via the communication rings 151-160 to the bridge 190. The bridge relays the signals to a communication bus 195 which in turn relays the signals to output processors 170-175. Each output processor 170-175 may receive and stores signals destined for it in a memory queue 230. The signals may then be output in the order they arrive or in some other order based on a priority signal. Additionally, each communication ring 151-160 may be closed by connecting the bridge 190 to the first input on each loop.
