  • Patent number: 10374640
Abstract: A frequency offset device can be located at a remote unit of a distributed antenna system and can be configured to combine two or more RF bands to allow the remote unit to process signals otherwise associated with a total RF bandwidth beyond the capabilities of the remote unit to process simultaneously. Signals of the RF bands are received at the unit. At least one of the RF bands is shifted to form a composite RF band that has an edge of a first RF band overlapping an edge of a second RF band. The composite RF band includes information from the signals of the first RF band and from the signals of the second RF band. The remote unit can process the composite RF band.

  • Patent number: 10305579
Abstract: Disclosed is a satellite communication system that allocates bandwidth to maximize the capacity of the communication system while providing service to geographical areas having different demands. A smaller portion of the frequency spectrum can be allocated for subscriber beams that supply service to low demand areas. A larger portion of the frequency spectrum can be provided to subscriber beams that provide access to high demand areas. Allocation of bandwidth can be determined by the amount of demand in low demand areas versus the amount of demand in high demand areas. High demand gateways are physically located in low demand subscriber beams, while low demand gateways are physically located in high demand subscriber beams, which prevents interference.

Abstract: A bidirectional connection between a multimedia stream distribution system and a user is used to communicate operational data to and from the user. The bidirectional connection is separate from a multimedia connection that transfers a multimedia stream from the multimedia stream distribution system to the user. Providing a bidirectional connection separate from the multimedia connection is advantageous, among other reasons, because the operational data can be collected effectively at the multimedia stream distribution system independent of any limitations in the multimedia connection. To organize users and reduce processing load, the multimedia stream distribution system assigns users to user groups based on shared characteristics. • Patent number: 10075314
Abstract: A method and apparatus for improving channel estimation within an OFDM communication system. Channel estimation in OFDM is usually performed with the aid of pilot symbols. The pilot symbols are typically spaced in time and frequency. The set of frequencies and times at which pilot symbols are inserted is referred to as a pilot pattern. In some cases, the pilot pattern is a diagonal-shaped lattice, either regular or irregular. The method first interpolates in the direction of larger coherence (time or frequency). Using these measurements, the density of pilot symbols in the direction of faster change will be increased thereby improving channel estimation without increasing overhead. As such, the results of the first interpolating step can then be used to assist the interpolation in the dimension of smaller coherence (time or frequency).

The file transfer to the station is then executed according to at least the one or more OpenFlow rules.

  • Patent number: 9882745
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are provided for performing a cell search by a receiver in a communication system. A scrambling code is identified by correlating a common pilot channel with a first synchronization accumulation length based on a frame boundary and a code group. A multipath signal is sought by correlating the common pilot channel with a second synchronization accumulation length based on the frame boundary and the code group. A difference between, or a ratio of, a first maximum value of first correlation values acquired during identification of the scrambling code and a second maximum value of second correlation values acquired during searching for the multipath signal, is determined. It is determined whether a frequency offset exists by comparing the difference or the ratio with a predetermined threshold value. The frequency offset is estimated and the frequency offset is transmitted to a demodulator, when the frequency offset exists.

  • Patent number: 9882805
Abstract: Particular embodiments change a current storage I/O path used by a host computer to access networked storage to an alternative storage I/O path by considering traffic load at a networked switch in the current storage I/O path. The host computer transmits a request to the networked switch in the current storage I/O path to provide network load information currently experiences by the networked switch. After receiving network load information from the networked switch, the host computer then evaluates whether the networked switch is overloaded based on the received network load information. Based on the evaluation, the host computer selects a new alternative storage I/O path to the networked storage that does not include the networked switch, and then forwards future storage I/O communications to the networked storage using the new alternative storage I/O path.

  • Patent number: 9860797
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for efficiently performing a Se NB change for a UE in dual connectivity. When reconfiguring a data radio bearer going via the Se NB to another target base station, the UE may compile a PDCP status report comprising status information for all of the data radio bearer going via the Se NB, accompanied respectively by a radio bearer ID to identify the radio bearer to which the status report information pertains. Further, the PDCP status report is directly transmitted by the UE to the Me NB to avoid the backhaul delay between the Se NB and the Me NB; this may be done by using a signaling radio bearer (e.g. RRC message), or data radio bearer to the Me NB (e.g. PDCP control PDU), or by using a physical channel transmission to the Me NB (e.g. MAC CE).

  • Patent number: 9807620
Abstract: A method is provided a wireless system for providing small “guard” cells in a heterogeneous network at locations proximate to privately-maintained HeNB (or femto) cells in the heterogeneous network. More particularly, the methodology of the invention addresses the problem of a mobile user in a heterogeneous network located nearby to a privately maintained HeNB cell in the heterogeneous network, and the inherent interference created for the HeNB cell by the necessity of the mobile user having to transmit and receive communications from a distant public macro eNB. By deploying small public “guard” cells in the macro cell proximate to the private HeNB cells, such a public mobile terminal is enabled to communicate with the public small cell at generally lower power than would have been necessary for communication with the distant macro eNB, with a resulting reduction in interference for the nearby HeNB cell. The FL interference between the macro cell and the HeNBs is also mitigated.
