In an alternative embodiment, a calibration training frame (CTF) is used to calibrate multiple antenna mappings simultaneously or sequentially. Also disclosed are physical layer and medium access control layer frame formats for implementing antenna mapping selection according to the invention.

  • Patent number: 8472558
Abstract: It is possible to provide a radio transmission device and a radio transmission method which can avoid degradation of a channel estimation accuracy using a reference signal formed by a ZC sequence even when the RS transmission band of a local cell is different from that of an adjacent cell. A mobile station decides a cyclic shift sequence corresponding to RB allocation information from an RS table which correlates different frequency bandwidths from a reference point of respective transmission bands to a spectrum start number of the cyclic shift sequence so as to satisfy a particular relationship based on the sequence length and transmits the decided cyclic shift sequence as RS to a base station. The base station uses the same RS table as the RS table of the mobile station and performs correlation calculation of the RS transmitted from the mobile station, thereby performing channel estimation.

Abstract: In a communication system at least one operational criterion is applied for a group of one or more users. On the basis of such operational criterion, one or more interface rules are generated. An interface rule includes information that identifies an application that is capable of utilizing two or more communication interfaces, and also a function for determining a communication interface to be applied by that application in communications of the group of one or more users. A profile that includes interface rules generated on the basis of operational criteria to be applied for a user is created and stored in a user terminal of the user. Use of applications can be matched with operational requirements posed on or by the user, without substantial need to change the applications and/or the configuration of the terminal due to the matching.

Abstract: An embodiment of the current invention is directed to facilitating a location-based service for use by a given mobile-device. A location of each of a number of base stations that makes up a portion of a wireless-telecommunications-network is identified. For a given base station, the probability that it provides a level of signal coverage to a geographical area that would enable the mobile-device in the first geographical area to communicate with the network is determined. A density of possible locations that the mobile-device may be within the geographical area is determined. A position for the mobile-device is approximated based on the density. A location-based service is facilitated for use by the mobile-device based on the position of the mobile-device.
