  • Patent number: 9608921
Abstract: The invention provides for a download agent executing on a computing device to dynamically select between media files with different media quality for delivery of media content provided by a media content provider. The download agent may select between different media files with similar content but different quality based on a playback rate of the media file, the resolution of the media file, or the encoding scheme of the media file. The download agent may seamlessly transition from one media file to another media file at key frames to avoid any motion artifacts and to avoid requiring a user to restart the media file.

Abstract: The present application discloses methods and systems for synchronizing duplicated contents between multiple terminals. By establishing a mapping relationship between multiple accounts for different application programs installed on different terminals, a server may transmit captured contents between the accounts so that the contents are displayed and/or further distributed. After receiving a content forwarding request from a second account associated with a browser application in a second terminal, the server may process the content forwarding request, which includes the captured contents and identifiers. Using the identifiers and the mapping relationship, the server may identify a first terminal with an instant messaging application having a first account. The captured contents may be transferred to the first account so that the captured contents may be displayed and/or further distributed. The present application provides additional convenience and efficiency for multi-terminal operations.

Abstract: Embodiments are provided for enabling WiFi offload by integrating the WiFi and cellular networks operations at a radio access network level. The embodiments include a WiFi network component configured to determine whether to send over a cellular air interface a packet designated for WiFi according to a predefined rule. If the rule is met, the WiFi network component sends the packet to a cellular network component over the cellular air interface. The cellular network component is configured to process the received packet for cellular transmission, and transmit the packet using the cellular air interface to a receiver device. The predefined rule comprises at least one of sending the packet using the cellular air interface if the packet belongs to a predefined packet type, if the packet has a size below a predefined threshold size, and if the nature of the destination address for the packet is a broadcast address.

Abstract: A telephone subnet crawler is used to access automated telephone response systems and index the information, contents and structure contained therein. A database of the information, contents and structure of a plurality of automated telephone response systems is created by the telephone subnet crawler. A user interface provides callers with direct access to the information, contents and structure of the automated telephone response systems contained in the database. Where an automated telephone response system requires user input, the user interface calls the automated telephone response system and navigates to the node requiring user input, provides the user input and displays the results to the user. Where an automated telephone response system connects to an operator, the user interface calls the automated telephone response system, navigates to the node for an operator, and when an operator is detected, calls the user at a user provided callback number.

Abstract: Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate multiplexing communications from multiple downstream access points to one or more mobility management entities (MME). In particular, a concentrator component is provided that can establish a single transport layer connection with an MME along with multiple application layer connections over the single transport layer connection for each of multiple downstream access points and/or related mobile devices. The downstream access points and/or mobile devices can provide identifiers to the concentrator component, which can utilize the identifiers to track communications with the MME. In this regard, the MME can additionally include identifiers received from the concentrator component in subsequent communications to facilitate identifying the appropriate downstream access point and/or mobile device.

  • Patent number: 9154361
Abstract: A video optimizer receives a request to optimize a source file and stream the optimized file. The request may be accompanied by a key uniquely identifying the original source file to be optimized and an optimized version of the source file to stream to the client. The key uniquely identifies the source video file as it exists on an origin server to prevent transmission of modified source video and the optimized version of the source file by optimization parameters to ensure compatibility with the user device. The video optimizer queries a cache database in response to the received request, which contains references keys and locations of optimized source files among local caches in a cluster of video optimizers. The cache database responds indicates whether a matching optimized version of the source file exists in a local cache of a given video optimizer in the cluster.

  • Patent number: 9124722
Abstract: An approach for providing telephony services over a data network is disclosed. A communications system includes a location server that receives a request from a calling station to establish a call with a station associated with a called party. The location server generates a message specifying a set of addresses relating to the called party and context information. A proxy server communicates with the location server and is configured to receive the message and to attempt to establish the call based on the set of addresses. The proxy server iteratively queries the location server to obtain another set of addresses if no prior address results in establishment of the call.

  • Patent number: 9125053
Abstract: A communication system, in which a mobile terminal uses a data path that was generated with an ISP network by a base station in a home network to access a NW via the ISP network, includes an authentication means and connection control means in the ISP network. The base station accepts an access request from the mobile terminal and transmits information relating to the base station and the mobile terminal to the connection control means. The authentication means determines based on the information whether a linking service that connects to the home NW without traversing the ISP network can be provided to the mobile terminal, and if the linking service can be provided, notifies this information to the connection control means. Based on this notification, the connection control means requests the base station to generate a data path for providing the linking service, and the base station generates the data path.
