  • Patent number: 7760706
Abstract: Methods and systems for load sharing signaling messages at the MTP level are disclosed. When a signaling message is received, it is determined whether the signaling message includes a routing indication indicating route-on-point-code-subsystem-number. If the routing indicator indicates route-on-point-code-subsystem-number, it is determined whether the signaling message belongs to an MTP level 3 load sharing group. If the signaling message belongs to an MTP level 3 load sharing group, the signaling message may be routed to any of the point codes in the MTP level 3 load sharing group. Routing the signaling message to a point code in the MTP level 3 load sharing group may include replacing the destination point code in the signaling message with the destination point code of the node to which the signaling message is to be routed. Once the point code has been replaced, the signaling message is routed to the destination associated with the point code.

  • Patent number: 7366276
Abstract: The present invention provides a novel method for transferring SCCP messages to one of a plurality of entities in an entity set. The method receives a SCCP message from which a traffic type for said received message is determined. A global title associated with said received message is then translated to a destination entity set. For each entity in the destination entity set, a maximum allowed rate for receiving messages of said traffic type at that entity and a current rate for transferring messages of said traffic type to that entity are determined. The method then determines a subset of entities for which the current rate is smaller than or equal to the maximum allowed rate. If the subset contains at least one entity, the method selects one entity from the subset and transfers the SCCP message to said selected entity. The invention also provides an advanced signaling transfer point STP.

  • Patent number: 7315512
Abstract: The invention discloses a method for implementing signaling link redundancy in IP networks. Two ASPs are created for the same AS in the host at the IP network side, and all user adaptation protocols share ASPSM and ASPTM messages so that the states of the two ASPs can become active and inactive respectively, thus to implement two signaling links for serving the same traffic. When switch is initiated, SCTP association can be closed by using “graceful close”, and the SCTP itself will make sure to send out all the data remaining in its buffer and its higher-layer applications will also send subsequent data in order after learning the remaining data are all sent out, thus sequential delivery for the data can be guaranteed. This method can avoid data loss and disorder, and the speed for switch can be ensured because the backup link will be notified immediately after the data on the primary link are sent out.

  • Patent number: 6801616
Abstract: The present invention concerns a method, a switching center, a converting node, and a service control point for the transmission of service signaling messages, with service signaling messages being transmitted in sequences through a signaling network between switching centers (SW1, SW2, SW3, SW6). The service signaling messages are each directed from an originating switching center to a destination switching center using a destination code and a converting node (CP) if necessary determines a ported subscriber code assigned to the subscriber code. It is proposed that the originating switching center determine a ported subscriber code and enter it into the those signaling messages as destination code which the originating switching center sends within a sequence of signaling messages following a first signaling message.

  • Patent number: 6775234
Abstract: A method of routing signalling information at a signalling point of a telecommunications network. A Global Title Routing Case (GTRC) table is provided for mapping Global Titles to GTRCs, where each GTRC is allocated a primary and secondary destination signalling point. At least one peak time period is predefined, and said primary and secondary destination signalling points are swapped during said peak period to allow for load sharing during this period. For a signalling transfer request received at the signalling point, the Global Title associated with the request is mapped to a GTRC using the GTRC table, and the destination signalling point is determined in dependence upon the primary and secondary destination signalling points allocated to the mapped GTRC and signalling point availability, and, the time at which the request is received.

Abstract: A signaling architecture for a cross connect switch utilizes out-of-band communications channels to transmit status information from line modules to the switch module. The out-of-band communication channels are separate from the in-band payload data connections routinely used to connect line modules to the switch module. A framer is used to extract payload data for transmission on the in-band payload data connections. The framer also extracts status information that may be encoded before sending to the switch module via the out-of-band communications channels. The switch module logically pairs STS-1s into working/protect pairs and utilizes the STS-1 granular status information to decide which of the pair is a better copy which is output as the working copy after the cross-connect switch fabric is configured according to user demands. A redundant switch module may also be used for equipment protection.

  • Patent number: 6701439
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method of call rejection provided for use in connection with a data network. It includes establishing a point-of-presence which serves as a termination point for receiving calls from clients. Received calls are then multiplexed into a tunnel as separate identifiable tunnel sessions. The tunnel sessions are received at a network server of the data network. Next, it is determined for each tunnel session if access to the data network is to be denied. If access is denied, then a call rejection message is returned to the point-of-presence via the tunnel. In a preferred embodiment, the call rejection message identifies the tunnel session which is denied access and a reason for denial such that at the point-of-presence appropriate action may be taken in response thereto. In the case of suspected intrusion by an unauthorized entity, this action involves a form of deterrent and/or surveillance.
