Plurality Of Rings Or Loops To Form A Mesh Network Patents (Class 370/406)
  • Patent number: 8170039
Abstract: A method of transferring data in an automation system having a plurality of communicatively connected communication stations is provided. The communicative connection of the communication stations follows a predefined hierarchy, in which a plurality of communication stations are grouped together in a line and an alias matched to the hierarchy is assigned to each communication station. Telegrams sent in the automation system designate a destination communication station also by its alias, whereby each line is closed to form a ring by way of its transition, designated as entry point, from the next higher line by way of the entry point, and telegrams in the ring thus resulting with the line are forwarded both in the direction of the hierarchy of the allocated alias designations and also in the opposite direction.

Abstract: A Wireless Router (WR) aggregates information regarding the emergency calls based on their context and routes the aggregated emergency information to the correct portal which directs the aggregated emergency to appropriate Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP). The information aggregation is automatically triggered when the number of calls exceeds the multihop capacity to the egress point. The PSAP responds to the emergency situation by sending a response message via the Portal. The WR multicast/broadcasts the response message to the mobile devices which initiated the emergency calls. The response message generally includes emergency instructions based on incident type and location. Further, a call-back list is created for users whose emergency calls were not completed. By using the call-back list PSAP personnel can initiate calls to end users to provide assistance in emergency situations.

The leader node is configured to cause the leader and follower nodes to alternate between an awake mode and a sleep mode. The leader and follower nodes consume less power when in the sleep mode than when in the awake mode.

Abstract: Provided are a system and article of manufacture for bidirectional data transfer. In certain embodiments a link layer login is sent from a first port to a second port. Subsequently, an application layer login is sent from the first port to the second port to establish a first data path, wherein the first data path is from the first port to the second port. Subsequently, another application layer login is sent from the second port to the first port to establish a second data path, wherein the second data path is from the second port to the first port. In certain other embodiments, a first data path is established from a first port to a second port. A determination is made at the first port, whether the second port has a second data path established from the second port to the first port. An application layer logout is sent from the first port to the second port, in response to determining that the second port has the second data path established from the second port to the first port.

  • Patent number: 7978668
Abstract: An apparatus, method, and computer readable medium thereof for simultaneously establishing links with a plurality of nodes in a wireless network are provided. A processing module determines whether a mesh network configuration message of the apparatus has space to packet an information element and determines whether to transmit a Neighbor Link Establishment information element to one of the nodes. If the mesh network configuration message has space to packet an information element and the Neighbor Link Establishment information element needs to be transmitted to one of the nodes, the Neighbor Link Establishment information element will be packeted into the mesh network configuration message. Finally, a transmission module transmits the mesh network configuration message to the nodes in order to solve the problem of increasing time during link establishment and avoid deadlock among the nodes when the apparatus of the prior art establishes links with the nodes simultaneously.

Abstract: In one aspect a method for correlating network events in a network comprises correlating the events relating to paths with events relating to links traversed by paths. In another aspect, the method includes correlating the events based on whether paths traversing the network share network resources, such as links. Preferably, the method is implemented in a network where paths traversing the network change dynamically in response to other network events and based on traffic engineering priorities.

  • Patent number: 7961711
Abstract: The present invention extends to methods, systems, and computer program products for fitness based routing. Embodiments of the invention significantly improve the likelihood that routing nodes contained in routing table have adequate (or even relatively increased) ability to transfer and process messages in an overlay network. Thus, when the node is to make a routing decision for a message, the node has some assurances that any selected routing node is adequate (or is at least the best currently available). Further, a sending node can take preference to routing nodes with higher fitness values when sending a message. Preference to higher fitness metric values further insures that messages are adequately transferred and processed. Accordingly, embodiments of the invention can be used to route messages in a manner that optimizes bandwidth and provides efficient routing capability.

  • Patent number: 7957277
Abstract: A wireless communication system including a mesh network having a plurality of mesh points (MPs), a plurality of wireless transmit/receive units (WTRUs), extra-mesh local area network (LAN) resources, and an external network is disclosed. When one of the MPs receives a packet, a determination is made as to whether the received packet is destined to another MP belonging to the same mesh network, (or to a WTRU served by another MP), and, if so, a determination is made as to whether there are at least two mesh portals in the mesh network that provide access to the external network via the extra-mesh LAN resources. The packet is routed according to an intra-mesh routing algorithm if there are less than two mesh portals in the mesh network. Otherwise, a determination is made as to whether an extra-mesh routing algorithm or an intra-mesh routing algorithm should be used.

Embodiments of a method may include setting a renew time and a rebind time of a DHCP configuration and establishing an IP address with a first DHCP server. Embodiments may also include, after passage of the renew time, transmitting a renew request to the first DHCP server at its IP address and, in response to failure to receive an acknowledgement message from the first DHCP server, determining if the first DHCP server IP address is still valid. Embodiments may also include, in response to determining that the first DHCP server IP address is not still valid, retrieving a second, different DHCP server IP address from a network change event signal and configuring a network adapter based on the second DHCP server IP address.

  • Patent number: 7944813
Abstract: A method and system for establishing or handling a connection between a first and a second network element connected to different networks such as GPRS/UMTS and IP-based networks. The connection is established by at least one third network element such as a SGSN or GGSN arranged in one of the networks. The third network element is adapted to send, when receiving information on an establishment of a connection, a request to a fourth network element which may be a Call State Control Function (CSCF), a Policy Control Function (PCF), or a Call Processing Server (CPS). The request requests permission for establishing a requested type of connection, or requests a check of a connection parameter, and specifies the first and/or second network element and/or the connection or connection type to be established. The fourth network element returns a response specifying a permission for establishing a connection or connection type, or specifying a connection parameter.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention include a method, system, and article of manufacture that provide opportunistic queuing injection strategy used for data communication between nodes of a parallel computer system. A message may be encapsulated into a set of data packets. When the packets are sent, an opportunistic injection queue may be configured to transmit them to multiple hardware injection ports. This approach allows for complete network link saturation. In a parallel system with network links in multiple dimensions, sending message packets using more than one dimension may substantially increase network throughput.
