Patent number: 11314558Abstract: Methods, non-transitory machine readable media, and computing devices that dynamically throttle non-priority workloads to satisfy minimum throughput service level objectives (SLOs) are disclosed. With this technology, a determination is made when a number of detection intervals with a violation within a detection window exceeds a threshold, when a current one of the detection intervals is outside an observation area. The detection intervals are identified a violated based on an average throughput for priority workloads within the detection intervals exceeding a minimum throughput SLO. A throttle is then set to rate-limit non-priority workloads, when the number of violated detection intervals within the detection window exceeds the threshold.Type: GrantFiled: July 23, 2019Date of Patent: April 26, 2022Assignee: NETAPP, INC.Inventors: Ranjit Nandagopal, Yasutaka Hirasawa, Chandan Hoode

Patent number: 10956628Abstract: A method and system provide performance computing on a public grid. A computational mesh to solve a received engineering simulation (that has computations/processes) is computed. The mesh divides the CAD model up spatially into elements where conservation equations are formed. Mesh vertices identify nodes where field variables are defined. Each process owns a node/element and is assigned to a mesh partition. A solver application installed on each computer and each computer CPU spawns a thread to each CPU core. A matrix is assembled by each thread that computes numerical operators (that are stored as a coefficient matrix) that represent the conservation equations. The matrix is solved by solving the equations represented by the coefficient matrix. The solving yields field vectors that update the field variables at the nodes. The engineering solution is rendered based on the updated field variables.Type: GrantFiled: April 27, 2017Date of Patent: March 23, 2021Assignee: AUTODESK, INC.Inventor: David Marc Waite

Patent number: 9461699Abstract: In one disclosed embodiment, data information is stored in a buffer in a transmitter. The data information is transmitted on a shared channel and control information for recovering the associated data information is transmitted on a dedicated channel. The shared and dedicated channels can be, for example, different portions of the frequency band. The control information can include a spreading factor used to spread the data at the transmitter. For example, the spreading factor can be the length of the Walsh function orthogonal coding used to spread the data. The control information is received over the dedicated channel before the associated data information is received over the shared channel. The control information is then used to recover the associated data information. For example, knowing the spreading factor from the control information, the correct Walsh function can be selected to de-spread, i.e. to Walsh de-cover, the data information.Type: GrantFiled: January 9, 2006Date of Patent: October 4, 2016Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventor: Serge Willenegger

Patent number: 9414368Abstract: A method and apparatus for requesting and allocating bandwidth in a broadband wireless communication system. The method and apparatus includes a combination of techniques that allow a plurality of CPEs to communicate their bandwidth request messages to respective base stations. One technique includes a “polling” method whereby a base station polls CPEs individually or in groups and allocates bandwidth specifically for the purpose of allowing the CPEs to respond with bandwidth requests. The polling of the CPEs by the base station may be in response to a CPE setting a “poll-me bit” or, alternatively, it may be periodic. Another technique comprises “piggybacking” bandwidth requests on bandwidth already allocated to a CPE. Currently active CPEs request bandwidth using unused portions of uplink bandwidth that is already allocated to the CPE. The CPE is responsible for distributing the allocated uplink bandwidth in a manner that accommodates the services provided by the CPE.Type: GrantFiled: October 24, 2014Date of Patent: August 9, 2016Assignee: WI-LAN, INC.Inventors: Kenneth L. Patent number: 9021126Abstract: A data processing apparatus includes multiple processing means that are connected in a ring shape via corresponding communication means respectively. Each communication means includes a reception means for receiving data from a previous communication means, and a transmission means for transmitting data to a next communication means. Connection information is assigned to each of the reception means and the transmission means. Patent number: 8238351Abstract: The process of traversing a K may involve determining a match between a root node and a Result node of a node on the asCase list of a current K node. When learning is off and a match is not found, the procedure may ignore the particle being processed. An alternative solution determines which node on the asCase list is the most likely to be the next node. While the K Engine is traversing and events are being recorded into a K structure, a count field may be added to each K node to contain a record of how many times each K path has been traversed. The count field may be updated according to the processes traversing the K. Typically, the count is incremented only for learning functions. This count field may be used in determining which node may be the most (or least) probable.Type: GrantFiled: April 4, 2006Date of Patent: August 7, 2012Assignee: Unisys CorporationInventor: Jane Campbell Mazzagatti

Patent number: 6882647Abstract: A method of signalling a message using a terminal address across multiple network entities is provided. At least two contiguous network entities are associated with addressing spaces for which message addresses are not routable by way of the terminal address and are not otherwise routable by way of a single address. The method stores a terminal address of either an originating or terminating network entity. At every network border between any two contiguous network entities wherein an immediately succeeding network entity does not provide an address through which the message is routable, it is determined whether the address is to be stored and replaced with another address. If so, the address is stored so as to permit its subsequent retrieval. Once the address has been stored, the another address is assigned to be the address and the message is routed in the succeeding network using the another address.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 2002Date of Patent: April 19, 2005Assignee: Alcatel Canada Inc.Inventors: Shawn McAllister, Joel Halpern, Scott Brim

Patent number: 6130888Abstract: An ATM transmission system which transmits voice data in an asynchronous transfer mode (ATM). It implements compression of a mute section over a channel by detecting the mute section of a call and by physically suppressing its transmission over the channel as an ATM cell. A transmitting side detects the mute section, generates vocal/mute information, and generates a mute start cell and a mute end cell. A receiving side generates a mute section at a fixed interval when receiving the mute start cell, and returns to a normal receiving mode of a speech spurt cell immediately when receiving the mute end cell. The suppression of the mute section makes it possible to reduce the occupied bandwidth, and to increase the channel efficiency.Type: GrantFiled: November 5, 1997Date of Patent: October 10, 2000Assignee: NTT Mobile Communications Network, Inc.Inventors: Hisakazu Tsuboya, Hiroshi Nakamura, Masafumi Onuki, Akihisa Nakajima

Patent number: 6034944Abstract: A communication system capable of reliably recovering its communication functions on its own when a fault occurs, and which can be used to construct a highly flexible network. This communication system is configured so that a plurality of node devices (12) supporting data generating sources are connected via communication paths (13) that use ATM technology to a plurality of center devices (11), just as if it possessed distributed ATM switch functions. When the communication paths (13) between two (2) node devices (12-2 and 12-3) are cut, the center device (11-2) detects the fault point, and autonomously recovers communication functions by transferring the node device (12-2) originally under its control to the control of the center device (11-1). When this happens, the center device 11-2) cannot communicate via the communication paths (13) due to the fault, and must use a local communication means such as a wide area network (16) to communicate with the center device (11-1).Type: GrantFiled: July 3, 1997Date of Patent: March 7, 2000Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha ToshibaInventors: Yutaka Seki, Keiichi Obara, Tomoo Kunikyou, Hidekazu Turuta, Hirotaka Sakajiri
