The proposed mechanism achieves power saving by reducing the activity of uplink transmission. In addition, the proposed mechanism also reduces signaling overhead to enhance network efficiency.

During the period of time, any receiving device that did not receive a chunk of the file may geocast a request for the missing chunk. Receiving devices also may wait various respective amounts of time before geocasting requests. Other receiving devices that may have missed a chunk may hear that the chunk it missed is being requested. And that device need not make a request for the chunk. Rather, that device may wait for the sending device to retransmit a geocast packet that contains the missing chunk.

When the IoT gateway device receives the connection request sent from the client device, the IoT gateway device may obtain the MAC address and a RSSI value of the client device according to the connection request and compare the received MAC address and the received RSSI value with the valid MAC address list and the valid RSSI range, so as to determine whether the client device is the valid client device.
