Abstract: The invention is a transaction interface protocol wherein the interface protocol has a transaction identifier signal in each of the request and response channels. It is used between a target network interface unit (NIU) master and an initiator NIU slave that are directly connected through a transaction interface. The target NIU response channel uses the transaction ID signal to identify the entry in a context array associated with the corresponding request. The coupling of target NIU and initiator NIU enable the formation of an on-chip interconnect comprising multiple network-on-chip (NoCs) wherein the topology of the interconnect is simpler, smaller, faster, and has lower latency.

Abstract: The Real-time Transport Protocol (RTP) and its related standards define a retransmission packet format and a way to give feedback via Negative ACKnowledge (NACK) packets for data that has been lost. In one embodiment, a unicast RTP repair session is associated with a main Source Specific Multicast (SSM) multicast session. Real-time Transport Control Protocol (RTCP) NACK packets are then used for feedback to a SSM feedback target address. This dynamically instantiates unicast RTP repair for multicast sessions. The repair scheme can be used for repairing multicast channels or joining new multicast channels. In another embodiment, a media transmission device shares an IP address with one or more other media transmission devices. The shared IP address can also be used to route multiple identical multicast media streams to different media stream receivers.

Abstract: When multiple SDH/SONET frame are accumulated and then lower-order path information removed from multiple frames is multiplexed into the same packet to achieve better transmission efficiency during packetization, the delay for accumulating increases. Disclosed is a transmission device that packetizes an SDH/SONET lower-order path with timing which is an integer factor of 1 cycle of the SDH frame. In this case, the destination loads the same multiple lower-order path in one packet. The result is that delay time accompanying lower-order path packetization is kept to less than the time of 1 cycle of the SDH frame, and the efficiency with which lower-order paths are accommodated in packets is further increased. The result is that improved transmission efficiency is realized.

Abstract: A transmission apparatus operation method for optimizing a virtual private network operates by defragmenting and de-duplicating transfer of variable sized blocks. A large data object is converted to a plurality of data paragraphs by a fingerprinting method. Each data paragraph is cached and hashed. The hashes are transmitted to at least one satellite apparatus. Only data paragraphs which were not previously cached at each satellite are transferred.

Abstract: A device for connecting to a two-wire communications bus, a bus station that, while utilizing the device, is able to send messages, represented on the bus lines as dominant and recessive bus levels, to additional connected bus stations and receive same from them. The device includes (a) an arrangement setting a dominant bus level in the form of a first voltage difference between the two bus lines by driving a first electric current, and the device is suitable for the recessive bus level to set in as the second voltage difference between the two bus lines, at least partially by the flowing of a discharge current via terminating resistors connected to the bus lines; and (b) an arrangement to speed up the setting of at least one of the bus levels by driving at least one additional electric current, at least in response to the presence of a switching condition.

  • Patent number: 8599872
Abstract: The invention relates to an interfacing device for transmission through interconnections used for sending a plurality of electrical signals. The interfacing device of the invention comprises signal terminals and a common terminal. A transmitting circuit receives the input signals of the transmitting circuit coming from a source. The output of the transmitting circuit delivers, when the transmitting circuit is in the activated state, voltages between one of the signal terminals and the reference terminal (ground). A receiving circuit delivers, when the receiving circuit is in the activated state, output signals of the receiving circuit determined each by the voltage between one of the signal terminals and the common terminal, to the destination. In the closed state, the common terminal switching circuit is, for the common terminal, equivalent to a voltage source delivering a constant voltage, connected in series with a passive two-terminal circuit element presenting a low impedance.

Abstract: A method of controlling connection between nodes in a digital interface whereby a first node that is a master node determines a second node to be the master and controls a point-to-point connection or a broadcast connection to another node. The first node having the display device determines the second node to be the master in accordance with a user selection, and transmits a connection command of a predetermined format for transmitting a data stream to the second node. The second node determined as the master in accordance with the transmitted connection command of the predetermined format is allocated with a channel and a bandwidth from an isochronous resource manager (IRM), and performs a point-to-point connection between the second node and the first node to transit the data stream. Thus, the transmission/reception, reproduction, and control of the data stream of the program can be smoothly performed.

  • Patent number: 8588249
Abstract: Multicast information contained in a request from an IP TV set top box for video content to an IGMP manager is passed to an SA processor to perform a lookup of an SA table. A result of the lookup is the frequency of the downstream legacy channel over which the requested content is being delivered from an edge QAM device. The SA processor instructs a legacy QAM tuner to tune the determined frequency. The IGMP manager selects packets corresponding to the request content based on a program identifier that is associated with the multicast address in the SA table. As selected packets are received by the IGMP manager, multicast address information is placed into them, and they are passed on from the manager to the IP TV set top box. The IP TV set top box receives the requested content packets based on the multicast address.
