  • Patent number: 7990961
Abstract: Apparatus and methods for full address resolution in a zoning SAS expander. A single memory circuit is used in a zoning SAS expander to store zone information associated with the SAS address (e.g., WWN) of devices exchanging information through the expander. The source and destination addresses in a received SAS frame are used as inputs to the memory circuit to generate outputs of the memory circuit representing the source and destination zone group identifiers. These outputs are then applied to the zone permission table to determine the zoning permission for forwarding the frame through the expander. Pipelined logic within the expander sequences the operations of the memory circuit and the zone permissions table to account for clock cycle delays in processing of each. In one exemplary embodiment, the memory circuit is a content addressable memory (CAM). In another exemplary embodiment, the CAM also includes port routing information.

  • Patent number: 7886062
Abstract: At the time of exchanging routing information of a remote site, it is examined whether there is duplicated routing information, and when the duplicated routing information exists, an address conversion rule is generated. With this, when performing communication, address conversion is performed only for the communication to a site having a duplicated network address. In case of communication to a site having no duplicated network address, by performing IP communication intact, it becomes possible to omit unnecessary address conversion processing in a gateway. Also, when there is a duplicated address, by assigning a new network address which is not used in a site under a gateway to the duplicated address included in the routing information, and distributing the newly assigned address, it becomes possible to transmit a packet to a gateway appropriate to each destination, when there are a plurality of gateways in a subnet.

By operating at a level other than the bit level, processing capability requirements on both the encoder and decoder side can be reduced. The receiving method includes receiving such a frame wherein the control slot has scheduling information for each user, and extracting the data slot from the received frame by using the scheduling information in the control slot. These methods may realize an interactive broadcasting by separately employing broadcast signals for the uplink and downlink.

  • Patent number: 7792149
Abstract: A method for formatting a signal in a mobile communication system by appending a plurality of medium access control headers to a plurality of medium access control-service data units for data transfer between a mobile station and network in the mobile communication system. If the service data units have the same characteristics, a medium access control-protocol data unit is formed by successively coupling the service data units to any one of the medium access control headers. If the service data units have different characteristics, the protocol data unit is formed by sequentially coupling each of the service data units and each of the medium access control headers. The formed protocol data unit is then transformed into a transport block with a predetermined size.

Abstract: According to one embodiment, an arbiter transmits its own arbitration signal from a port to a fibre channel loop in order to acquire a possessory right for the fibre channel loop when a data transmission request has occurred at the port. A detector detects a latency time from when its own arbitration signal is transmitted until the possessory right is acquired. A frame transmitter transmits a frame with a burst length corresponding to the detected latency time from the port to a destination via the fibre channel loop.

Abstract: A method for making correspondence between an MPID (Maintenance Point Identifier) and a MAC (Media Access Control) address, including: each MP (Maintenance Point) on the network is allocated a unique MPID at first; to obtain the MAC address of a destination MP, a MEP (Maintenance End Point) sends a broadcast query message to all the MPs on the network with the MPID of the destination MP; after receiving the broadcast query message, each MP determines whether the MPID in the message is the same as its MPID; if they are same, returns a unicast response message which includes the MPID and the MAC address; otherwise, no operation is performed; the MEP obtains the MAC address of the destination MP from the received unicast response message. The invention overcomes the problem of the prior art that an MEP cannot know the MAC address of a destination MP.
