  • Patent number: 10601480
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for utilizing unused bit resources to convey restrictions on parameters evaluated for a feedback report in a Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) wireless communication system. In one embodiment, a method of operation of a transmitting node in a wireless network includes transmitting a feedback restriction indicator to a receiving node, where the feedback restriction indicator is an unused bit resource in one or more instances of a control channel that is indicative of one or more desired restrictions on parameters to be evaluated by the receiving node for a feedback report to be provided from the receiving node. The method of operation of the transmitting node further includes receiving the feedback report from the receiving node, where the feedback report is limited according to the feedback restriction indicator.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for selecting between downlink beamforming training and uplink beamforming training for hybrid beamforming. The decision whether to perform downlink beamforming training or uplink beamforming training for hybrid beamforming can be used by a network node to reduce training overhead and increase system capacity. A selection value is computed, indicative of the relative costs of signaling overhead for downlink beamforming training and uplink beamforming training to support downlink transmissions by the network node to the group of wireless devices using hybrid beamforming. The selection between uplink beamforming training and downlink beamforming training is based on the selection value.

  • Patent number: 10601485
Abstract: This specification provides a method of transmitting an uplink signal based on a codebook in a wireless communication system. More specifically, the method performed by a UE includes receiving, from a base station, downlink control information (DCI) including a first transmit precoding matrix indicator (TPMI), determining a codebook subset related to the transmission of the uplink signal based on the first TPMI, and transmitting, to the base station, the uplink signal based on the determined codebook subset. Accordingly, there is an advantage in that flexibility in the transmission antenna design of a UE can be increased because the degree of freedom of antenna port selection is increased.

Abstract: One dimension (real or imaginary) is selected for each of a first plurality of devices that receives one-dimensional modulated complex signals from an access point (AP). The AP uses the selected dimension to generate a modulated complex signal for transmission to each such device, where the signal received by such devices is substantially free of inter-user interference on the dimension selected for the corresponding device. The AP then transmits the complex signal to the devices. As a result, the AP puts the modulated symbols received by of the first plurality of devices are received on either a real part or an imaginary part, but not both, and thus reduces the energy consumption associated with the transmission. Each of the first plurality of wireless devices considers either the real part or the imaginary part of the received signals.

Abstract: Various aspects of the disclosure relate to controlling allocations for independent links. For example, a device may dynamically control the uplink/downlink allocations for different links. In some aspects, the independent links may involve a first device (e.g., a user equipment) communicating via different independent links with different devices (e.g., transmit receive points (TRPs) or sets of TRPs). At least one device may signal the uplink/downlink allocation for the different links. If the isolation between links is high, the links may use different time division duplexed (TDD) or frequency division duplexed (FDD) subframe structures. If the isolation is low or for certain types of information (e.g., control information), the direction of transmission for one link may be constrained to be the same as the direction of transmission for another link (e.g., the links may use the same TDD/FDD frame structures). Also, sounding on different links may be time division multiplexed.
