Patent number: 9031164Abstract: Embodiments of a circuit are described. In this circuit, a modulation circuit provides a first modulated electrical signal and a second modulated electrical signal, where a given modulated electrical signal, which can be either the first modulated electrical signal or the second modulated electrical signal, includes minimum-shift keying (MSK) modulated data. Moreover, a first phase-adjustment element, which is coupled to the modulation circuit, sets a relative phase between the first modulated electrical signal and the second modulated electrical signal based on a phase value of the first phase-adjustment element. Additionally, an output interface, which is coupled to the first phase-adjustment element, is coupled to one or more antenna elements which output signals. These signals include a quadrature phase-shift-keying (QPSK) signal corresponding to the first modulated electrical signal and the second modulated electrical signal.Type: GrantFiled: December 9, 2013Date of Patent: May 12, 2015Assignee: Silicon Image, Inc.Inventors: Aliazam Abbasfar, Farshid Aryanfar

Patent number: 8831127Abstract: The MIMO method and apparatus disclosed herein improve throughput conditions limited by multiplicative noise by reducing the gain of the data streams associated with one or more dominant signal paths between MIMO communication nodes. As used herein, multiplicative noise refers to any noise dependent on or proportional to a signal strength at a transmitting node and/or a receiving node of a wireless communication network. An additional method and apparatus are included for determining that multiplicative noise limits the throughput conditions.Type: GrantFiled: December 14, 2012Date of Patent: September 9, 2014Assignee: Telefonaktiebolaget L M Ericsson (Publ)Inventors: Andreas Nilsson, Henrik Asplund, Mikael Coldrey, Jonas Medbo, Mathias Riback, Karl Werner

Patent number: 8781035Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide a system and method for improving performance of HARQ operation in a wireless communication system. The proposed method enables a receiver to update a receive buffer only if newly received values corresponding to a data packet are more reliable than previous values corresponding to the same data packet (that are stored in the receive buffer). The receiver may use the more reliable information (e.g., the newly received values or the previously stored values) for decoding.Type: GrantFiled: January 4, 2012Date of Patent: July 15, 2014Assignee: QUALCOMM IncorporatedInventors: Mingxia Cheng, Yongbin Wei

Powerline control interface in CENELEC (EU) A-D bands frequency and amplitude modulation transmitter
Patent number: 8699586Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed where a Powerline interface is used to transmit data into the powerline grid network, where the powerline interface is pulling the required transmit energy from the power grid network, where the powerline interface is transmitting data using standard narrow band modulation such as ASK, FSK, S-FSK, where the transmitted data are passed on to the powerline interface by the use of an “Input signal” adapation stage, where an error calculation and a comparison to a “Triangle” signal is performed to create a command signal used to enable the transmission of data by providing enough voltage to polarize the Transistor (i.e: MOS FET) used in the powerline path.Type: GrantFiled: June 8, 2012Date of Patent: April 15, 2014Inventors: Didier Boivin, Michel Gaeta -
Patent number: 8576954Abstract: Briefly, a method and apparatus to calculate cross-correlation values of complex binary sequences are provided. The apparatus may include a transformation unit and a cross-correlator. The cross-correlator may include a cross-correlation controller to provide, based on a type bit and a sign bit, a real component and/or an imaginary component of signals of complex binary sequences to a real accumulator and/or to an imaginary accumulator.Type: GrantFiled: August 30, 2012Date of Patent: November 5, 2013Assignee: Marvell World Trade Ltd.Inventors: Kobby Pick, Yona Perets

Patent number: 7558326Abstract: A communication system including a transmitter, a receiver, and a TMDS-like link, in which video data and auxiliary data (typically including timing data associated with other auxiliary data) are transmitted from the transmitter to the receiver, or in which video data are transmitted over the link from the transmitter to the receiver, and auxiliary data (typically including timing data associated with other auxiliary data) are transmitted from the receiver to the transmitter. In typical embodiments the auxiliary data include one or more streams of audio data.Type: GrantFiled: September 12, 2001Date of Patent: July 7, 2009Assignee: Silicon Image, Inc.Inventors: James D. Patent number: 6434135Abstract: The invention reduces transient peaks in signals transmitted in CDMA communication systems. A plurality of spread spectrum data signals are combined into a combined signal having fluctuating power level corresponding to the combination of the data signals. The combined signal is modulated to produce an RF signal for transmission. The average power of the combined signal is measured over a selected time period. The combined signal power level is adaptively limited to a calculated power level based at least in part on the measured power.Type: GrantFiled: August 31, 1999Date of Patent: August 13, 2002Assignee: Interdigital Technology CorporationInventors: Fatih M. Patent number: 5515011Abstract: A semiconductor diode is connected across the cathode-to-anode path of a magnetron and through a storage capacitor and collector resistor to a supply voltage for enabling charging of the capacitor. A control pulse causes a switching transistor to conduct to discharge the capacitor through its collector-to-emitter path, an emitter resistor, and the magnetron, for causing the latter to oscillate. A feedback signal representative of the difference between the magnetron output frequency and a reference frequency is applied to a linear amplifier transistor which conducts through the emitter resistor for controlling the current flow through the switching transistor and the operating frequency of the magnetron.Type: GrantFiled: August 2, 1993Date of Patent: May 7, 1996Assignee: Litton Systems Inc.Inventor: Richard J.
