Charge Error Detection Patents (Class 379/114.04)
  • Patent number: 10944759
Abstract: An identity management system is augmented to provide for automated suspension of all dormant accounts before launching a re-certification campaign (pass). In one implementation, prior to receiving a recertification notice from the system, the affected user's account is already suspended and thus cannot be accessed. Once the recertification succeeds, however, the account is restored. Preferably, the technique is exposed to an IAM system administrator through a simple interface, e.g., a one-click “suspend and re-certify” button in an administrative menu. When the administrator initiates the re-certification process, he or she may select the button for a particular account or user.

  • Patent number: 10673728
Abstract: In one embodiment, a local service of a network reports configuration information regarding the network to a cloud-based network assurance service. The local service receives a classifier selected by the cloud-based network assurance service based on the configuration information regarding the network. The local service classifies, using the received classifier, telemetry data collected from the network, to select a modeling strategy for the network. The local service installs, based on the modeling strategy for the network, a machine learning-based model to the local service for monitoring the network.

  • Patent number: 10115080
Abstract: Systems and methods for proactively establishing a third-party payment account for services rendered to a resident of a controlled-environment facility (“CEF”). A campaign-triggering event is detected, which triggers contact of prospective third-party (“3rd-party”) payers for a resident of a CEF in order to encourage such prospective 3rd-party payers to establish 3rd-party payment accounts for the resident. In this manner, the prospective 3rd-party payers are proactively contacted prior to an expected future demand for service by the resident. A method thus comprises identifying at least one prospective third-party payer for a resident of a controlled-environment facility, and proactively contacting the identified at least one prospective third-party payer prior to demand for service by the resident to encourage the identified at least one prospective third-party payer to establish a third-party payment account for payment for future service expected for the resident.

  • Patent number: 9374474
Abstract: A system, method, and computer program product are provided for detecting duplicated telecommunications events in a consumer telecommunications network. In use, a first telecommunications event and associated first event data are received. One or more fields of data are extracted from the first event data. Additionally, a single data string is generated from the extracted one or more fields of data. Further, a hash function is utilized to create a first event signature corresponding to the single data string from the extracted one or more fields of data. In addition, a first event signature hint is extracted from the first event signature, the first event signature hint including a portion of the first event signature. Furthermore, it is determined whether the first event signature hint exists in a signature hint hash table.

Abstract: A method and device for preventing fraud in collect calls from a domestic origin point to an international terminating point through a long-distance telecommunications system is described. In the system and method, a Screening for International Calls database is added to the call processing platform. This Screening of International Calls database contains records keyed by country codes, and each record has a blocked collect call field listing destination numbers that are blocked from receiving collect calls. When a domestic-to-international collect call is made, the record corresponding to the country code of the international terminating point of the collect call is retrieved from the Screening for International Calls database. This record is checked to determine if the destination number of the collect call matches any destination numbers listed in the blocked collect call field of the country code database record. If there is a match, the call is blocked.

  • Patent number: 8315365
Abstract: Revenue leakage is one of the major concerns of telecom operators worldwide. There are several reasons for revenue leakage including frauds, data loss, poor utilization of network infrastructure, and churn. With the growth in subscriber base and increased competition in the market space, the lack of control on revenue leak could potentially affect the profit margins drastically. The operators are ever looking for solutions that could limit the various aspects of the revenue leakage. A system and method for addressing revenue leakage due to data loss in general and incomplete/partial data in particular needs to handle the issues related to the obtaining of additional information so that incomplete/partial data records lead to additional billing opportunity for the operators.

Abstract: In accordance with a first aspect of the invention there is a unified call center system for multiple service providers comprising at least one server; and at least one database in communication with the at least one server. A service provider executes software stored on the at least one server to register an account, the registration process requiring the service provider to enter a predetermined set of information, including at least one identifier for an electronic voice communication device, an additional identifier for an electronic communication device (voice or text) and a personal identifier. After entry of the predetermined set of information, the software generates a unique identifier for the account and communicates the unique identifier and a return destination address for activating the account. The service provider then operates to activate the account by communicating their personal identifier to the return destination address using the electronic communication device.

Abstract: A method includes issuing a retrieval instruction, such as a database query, to retrieve from a database system a datum associated with a network circuit established outside of the United States. Upon receiving the datum from the database system, it is determined, based on the datum retrieved, whether the network circuit is incurring a charge. It is further determined, based on the datum retrieved, an amount of revenue generated by the network circuit. When the amount of revenue generated by the network circuit is below a predetermined threshold, a termination instruction to terminate a service associated with the network circuit is issued.

Abstract: A system for auditing telecommunication billing data comprises a rule-construction user interface and an audit component. The rule-construction user interface comprises a plurality of rule condition parameter menus to construct an audit rule for at least one telecommunication billing attribute. In a particular embodiment, before baselining the audit rule, a user can test rule conditions against actual data, and the user can compare multiple versions of a single audit rule to determine which version successfully identifies exceptions. The audit component is to perform an audit of a telecommunication billing data set for exceptions to the audit rule constructed using the rule-construction user interface. Once identified, the exceptions can be assigned to additional tool users to assist in exception investigation and maintenance using an exception maintenance component.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for enabling VoIP service providers to dynamically adjust international calling rates as a function of adjustments made with partner carrier arrangements that VoIP service providers put in place are disclosed. Thus VoIP service providers can pass on savings, if the new calling rate is lower than the old calling rate, to their subscribers in order to enhance the loyalty of existing subscribers. Instead of having subscribers to call into customer service centers to take advantage of these new lower international calling rates, the new calling rates will be updated dynamically and immediately for subscribers without these subscribers having to call in to request their billing rates to match the new calling rates.

Abstract: A network assurance analytics (NAA) system and method is disclosed. The NAA can be part of a risk analytic for telecom (RAFT) program. The NAA system is configured to monitor telecommunications networks, detect errors or fraud in those telecommunications networks, and provide solutions to resolve the errors or reduce the fraud. Traffic of a telecommunications network is electronically monitored for at least one pattern that is indicative of a telecommunications anomaly. Based on a set of a set of telecommunications profiles stored in a database, a model score representing a value of the telecommunications anomaly is generated. A solution for the telecommunications network to reduce the model score associated with the telecommunications anomaly is then generated for execution on the telecommunications network.
