Having Network Terminating Point Receiving Registration From Subscriber Terminal Patents (Class 379/121.06)
  • Patent number: 8532275
Abstract: Peering partners register with a peering grid for direct broadband routing of call offers. The peering grid terminates call offers on behalf of peering partners, collecting call detail records, summarizing termination usage, and calculating a payment to be provided to the peering partner in return for using the services of the peering grid. A call detail record may be generated for the peering partner, which may include a market value of call traffic, a variable cost of the call traffic, and a determined compensation amount. The market value is based on revenue for terminations of the call traffic from the peering grid, the variable cost is a function of sharing the market value between the peering grid and the peering partner, and the compensation amount due is a function of the variable cost.

  • Patent number: 8213585
Abstract: In certain embodiments, a system for automated distribution and indexing of prepaid calling card information comprises a central terminal operable to receive a request to purchase prepaid telephone services from an initiating terminal. The request comprises an identifier of a financial account to be used to purchase the prepaid telephone services. The central terminal is operable to electronically seek authorization for the request, initiate electronic debiting of the financial account using the identifier, and log a transaction indicating a purchase of prepaid telephone services in response to receipt of the authorization. The central terminal is operable to initiate electronic transmission, according to purchaser contact information, of calling card information from the central terminal to at least one electronic storage medium for access by a purchaser.

  • Patent number: 7822407
Abstract: The present invention discloses a method for a network to choose an authentication mode, wherein the key lies in that, according to the received authentication information in the authentication vector request message from S-CSCF as well as according to type of the requesting subscriber, HSS returns authentication information of the Early-IMS-based authentication vector to S-CSCF, or returns authentication information of the Full-IMS-based authentication mode to S-CSCF, or directly returns failure information to S-CSCF. If it is under the former two situations, the subscriber will be authenticated by adopting the corresponding authentication mode, and then S-CSCF will return access-allowed or access-rejected information to the subscriber according to authentication result. If it is in the latter situation, S-CSCF will directly send access-rejected information to the subscriber.

  • Patent number: 7664240
Abstract: Telecommunications customers must frequently utilize the facilities of many different telecommunications service providers in order to transmit data from one location to another. When a telecommunications customer encounters a network problem, that customer usually must navigate a complicated web of service providers and equipment owners in order to receive meaningful technical assistance from a human technician. The present invention is designed and intended to facilitate human interactions for technical support and administrative tasks by associating customer, contract, circuit, equipment, key personnel, billing, and telco information in a database for efficient data presentation and information retrieval. Resolution of the logistical problem of tracking circuit information is achieved by organizing the information and displaying important data concurrently.

  • Patent number: 7522922
Abstract: A mobile communication terminal, base station and registration control method are capable of preemptively preventing congestion between a mobile communication terminal and a wireless base station distributing multicast content. The mobile communication terminal judges whether or not a restriction is applied (Step S12) or a partial restriction (partially restricted) is applied (Step S14) in a currently assigned frequency channel. When a restriction or partial restriction is applied, registration is not carried out. Meanwhile, when only a partial restriction is applied or when neither a restriction nor partial restriction is applied, a judgment is made as to whether or not the registration is authorized (Step S16). If authorization is given, registration is executed (Step S20) after a predetermined standby time (Step S18).

  • Patent number: 7392035
Abstract: Consolidated billing in a wireless network is achieved by employing a processing node having storage capabilities for facilitating service creation and/or negotiation, and billing for those services in a wireless network, by associating user information and/or service information with network information. User information, service information, and network information, and their associated billing information, are provided periodically and dynamically into the storage. Using the processing node, user information and/or service information are associated with network information without having to access various network elements located throughout the network, to facilitate service creation and/or negotiation, and billing of services, to thus minimize network processing and network resources.

  • Patent number: 7352852
Abstract: A method, system, and medium for determining a least-cost, international-routing path to communicate data across a telecommunications network are provided. The path implementation variables can be presented on a user interface or used to automatically generate a switch update transaction that implements the path. The method includes identifying variables that affect the determination of a least-cost path, receiving data values that correspond to the variables, and presenting the data values so that the path can be determined in response to observing the variables. Confidence and route testing can be conducted using the present invention.

  • Patent number: 7068996
Abstract: A banded billing system for telecommunication service is disclosed. A carrier's billing system maintains in data storage a banded-pricing schedule that divides a continuum of minutes of use into a series of contiguous, mutually-exclusive minute-ranges and that specifies for each minutes-range a respective cost. At the end of a billing period, the billing system determines a number of minutes of telecommunication service used by a given subscriber during the billing period. The billing system then queries the banded-pricing schedule to determine which minute-range the number of minutes falls into, and to determine the cost specified by the banded-pricing schedule for that minute-range. The billing system then bills the determined cost to the subscriber, for use of the telecommunication service in the billing period.

  • Patent number: 6961567
Abstract: A system and a method are provided for managing network activation with a carrier and registration with a service provider. In one example, the method determines a network activation status. If the network is not activated, a utility is used to perform the activation. Further, the status of registration with a provider is determined. If not registered, a request is sent to a server of the service provider for a registration file configured to gather user registration information. The registration file is then received from the server. The registration file is executed on the personal computer. Data gathered by the registration file is then returned to the service provider's server to complete the registration procedures.

  • Patent number: 6731729
Abstract: A method settling accounts of buyers and sellers of telecommunications services by an online exchange system includes storing data representing a financial account of at least one seller and at least one buyer, wherein the financial account includes at least one of accounts receivable and cash receipts. A service node receives an offer to sell the services from the at least one seller and requests to buy the services from the at least one buyer. The service node then matches the offer and requests in accordance with one or more parameters specified in the offers and requests. A route table is generated based on the routes specified in the matched offers and requests and a switch node is configured based on the route table. Fees are computed based on the usage of the matched routes and the financial accounts of the at least one seller and at least one buyer based on the computer fees.

  • Publication number: 20020097846
Abstract: A method of controlling the operation of a mobile terminal having a multimedia data service capability is disclosed. The method initially includes establishing a call connection to a base station if a multimedia data service request is made by a mobile terminal user to receive multimedia data. Upon establishing the call connection, the mobile terminal sends a multimedia data service request signal to a base station and receives the corresponding multimedia data for a first predetermined period of time. Then, it disconnects the call connection and stops providing electric power to a signal receiving/transmitting part of the terminal after receiving a confirmation signal responding to the play-back period it has calculated earlier. Finally, it plays-back the received data for the play-back period. By using the present invention, an unnecessary connection fee can be eliminated, and the power being supplied to the mobile terminal while playing-back the data can be efficiently saved.
