Abstract: A method for managing an incoming call in a communication terminal is described, the incoming call having an associated call identifier. The method can comprise checking the routing of an outgoing call to the call identifier associated with the incoming call, and classifying the incoming call on the basis of the result of the checking of the routing, the incoming call being classified as a malicious incoming call if the checking of the routing reveals that the outgoing call is not able to be routed. The method can be used, for example, to detect malicious calls or spam.

Abstract: A method for automatic transmission of status information from a first communications terminal set up for speech communication to a second communications terminal set up for text communication is provided. The speech communication between communications terminals is processed over a speech communications server and the text communication between communications terminals over a text communications server. The speech communications server and the text communications server exchange messages over at least one converter device. The status information will be transmitted from the first communications terminal over the speech communications server, the converter device, and the text communications server to the second communications terminal.

According to one embodiment, a session log, containing information regarding sessions between internal extension numbers and external telephone numbers, is maintained by a call monitor of a telephone system. The internal extension numbers are associated with telephone extensions within the telephone system and the external telephone numbers are associated with telephones outside of the telephone system. An incoming telephone call is received by the call monitor from a telephone outside the telephone system that is associated with an external telephone number. It is determined by the call monitor whether the incoming call represents a call-back to an internal extension number based on the session log. When the incoming call is determined to represent a call-back, then causing a switch to route the incoming call to the internal extension number.

The virtual PBX services can provide, for example, a main number, and calls made to the main number can be managed according to one or more sets of call handling rules associated with the virtual PBX services and which can be configured through the user interfaces. Abstract: A topic is associated with a temporary communications address such as a temporary telephone number. This assignment may be effected by the user when the temporary address is obtained by the user. Illustratively, a user who simultaneously uses a plurality of temporary addresses associates a different topic with each of those addresses. When a caller calls the temporary address, the call is redirected to the user's real address and the user receives the topic that is associated with that temporary address, and preferably also the called temporary address itself, along with the redirected call, and this information is either displayed or announced to the user. The information provides context for the call to the user, and may optionally be captured in call logs. Illustratively, when the user initiates a call via the temporary address or the topic, the temporary address or the topic is provided to the called party as the caller ID information. Abstract: Aspects relate to provision of enterprise call capabilities to mobile devices. For example, a mobile device can indicate, over a data channel, that a PBX is to make a call on its behalf to a called party. The PBX can call back the mobile device, call the called party, and bridge those call legs to establish the call. The mobile device can employ mechanisms that a particular incoming call is made by the PBX. These mechanisms can include using ANI information, sending, and receiving audible verification codes over the voice channel established after answering the incoming call. Abstract: A security plan for telephone clients allows the client to authenticate itself by sending a coded sequence of DTMF digits to a PBX at the beginning of each call. When the idle client telephone receives a call, it sends a coded DTMF sequence to the PBX. If the client makes a feature invoking call to the PBX while active on the first call, the client will be prompted for the security sequence. The client must send the same sequence of DTMF digits as for the first call. The first call is authenticated by virtue of being a call from the PBX to the telephone. The second call is authenticated by sending a DTMF sequence that matches the one sent with the first call. A call that fails authentication is dropped. The security plan for clients constrains the client to using a callback to originate a call from an idle telephone.

Abstract: The present invention overcomes interface problems between proprietary handset ports on telephone base units and voice/data accessory products by allowing a user to automatically calibrate the telephone accessory product for an optimal interface match with the intended telephone base unit. This is accomplished through the use of a “Smart Interface Technology” (SIT) integrated chip set consisting of a full custom analog and semi-custom digital integrated circuit. The SIT incorporates three different methods for “learning” the characteristics of 4-wire port modular interfaces found in all telephone station sets. Basically, these methods determine the appropriate 4-wire terminal configurations, the transmit and receive channels of the intended telephone base unit, and adjust the channel sensitivities until an optimal and clear signal is provided for the user.

There is no requirement for central processing equipment used to provide local call transfer functionality for transferring calls.

Abstract: A system and method for allowing remote callers to access a secure telephone network maintains a registry (i.e. a database) of all remote callers that have access to the network. The registry contains an electronic serial number (ESN) and a personal identification number (PIN) for each remote caller. The ESN is typically the serial number of the callers cellular telephone. Alternatively, the ESN is a phone number of the remote caller's telephone. To establish a connection, the remote caller calls a private branch exchange (PBX) of the secure network. Upon receiving the call, the PBX compares the ESN and PIN of the remote caller with the ESN and PIN stored in the registry. If a match is found, the PBX authenticates the remote caller and allows the connection. The remote caller may have full access or access limited by a connection policy.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method and apparatus applicable to an interface between PSTN and PTN for telephone routing. The interface includes a branch switch, a key system, a network branch switch, and media gateway, etc. The telephone routing method and apparatus of the present invention creates, maintains, and utilizes a call-back routing table to enable a specified PSTN user to call the callback external leased line to reach a specified PTN user in a one-stage dialing manner. The process of one-stage dialing includes PTN call origination to PSTN, PSTN call origination to PTN, and callback tag insertion in the call-back routing table. The call-back routing table consists of a plurality of call-back tags. Each call-back tag consists of at least a data triple, i.e. PTN user identifier, PSTN called party telephone number, and callback leased line identifier.

Abstract: An active call handover arrangement for managing a handover between a plurality of telecommunication devices associated with a public extension number is provided. The arrangement includes a mobility server configured to manage a telecommunication session between a telecommunication device of a third-party caller and a first telecommunication device of the plurality of telecommunication devices. The arrangement also includes a switch component configured to be associated with at least one telecommunication device of the plurality of telecommunication devices. At least one telecommunication device is configured to include mobility client software. The switch component is also configured to enable a user to perform the handover between the first telecommunication device and a second telecommunication device of the plurality of telecommunication devices.

Abstract: An IP-PBX has a software-based built-in control unit, a card slot into which a control card is plugged, and a data bus connecting the software-based control unit and the card slot. The software-based control unit includes a first management unit managing up to a first number of IP terminals, and an IP terminal registering unit connected to the first management unit and the card slot. The control card includes a second management unit managing up to a second number of IP terminals. The IP terminal registering unit compares a current number of IP terminals managed by the first management unit with the first number when an IP terminal requests communication. The IP terminal has an ID number and an IP address. If the current number is smaller than the first number, the IP terminal registering unit associates the first management unit with the ID number and the IP address, and the first management unit manages the IP terminal.
