Abstract: The present invention implements a multimedia business communications platform that enables conference casting over a network. End users or so-called “audience members” participate in conference casts from anywhere on the Internet or behind an enterprise firewall using a standard Web browser running a streaming media player. The conference platform typically includes a number of subsystems: a Web reservation subsystem, a voice server subsystem, a content storage subsystem, a monitoring data subsystem, an attendee access subsystem, and an archive subsystem. Web reservation subsystem provides a mechanism that enables an entity to make an event reservation. Web reservation subsystem typically includes a database and an associated database management system. Voice server subsystem validates a user and converts an incoming telephone signal (i.e., the conference call) to an output data stream. Attendee access subsystem responds to attendee requests and returns information (e.g.

Abstract: The protection of data on a client mobile computing device by a server computer system such as within an enterprise network or on a separate mobile computing device is described. Security tools are described that provide different security policies to be enforced based on a location associated with a network environment in which a mobile device is operating. Methods for detecting the location of the mobile device are described. Additionally, the security tools may also provide for enforcing different policies based on security features. Examples of security features include the type of connection, wired or wireless, over which data is being transferred, the operation of anti-virus software, or the type of network adapter card. The different security policies provide enforcement mechanisms that may be tailored based upon the detected location and/or active security features associated with the mobile device. Examples of enforcement mechanisms are adaptive port blocking, file hiding and file encryption.

Abstract: An appointment control system provides high speed, real-time appointment setting capabilities. The sequential processing of service orders and a continuously updated dispatch database, ensure appointment setting reliability, in that there is little opportunity for overbooking technician network resources. The appointment control system, thereby, minimizes the occurrence of missed and rescheduled appointments. In the event a technician network resource is reduced, the dispatch database can be instantly modified to reflect the change. The appointment control system is configured to automatically recognize a modification in the dispatch database and to transmit notices to appointment setters that appointments utilizing that technician network resource must be changed. Where possible, the appointment control system will automatically reassign such appointments to other available technician network resources, without requiring the involvement of the appointment negotiators.

Abstract: The present invention is a method and system for transferring calls among communicating devices connected through a public network. The service is offered by a public network to permit a party in a ongoing conversation to transfer a call to another communicating device that may be more convenient to use, such as from a mobile telephone experiencing static to a land-based telephone, or from a home telephone to a mobile phone as a party leaves the home. In a method according to the invention, the network first establishes a connection between two communicating parties. The network then receives from one of the parties a request to transfer the call to another communications device. The network then transfers the call. The invention may be entirely network-based, in which case there may be a database of transferee devices stored on the network.

The system includes a private branch exchange (PBX) which provides multiple analog telephone lines and includes an interface to a data link. The multi-user system which provides telephone services to subscribers not associated with the PBX, is connected to the PBX by the analog telephone lines. A provisioning controller (10) checks whether the received provisioning order is complete. If the order is not complete, a second provisioning entity (116,115) is selected to provide further provisioning data (PD1,PD2,PD3,PD4,PD5,PD6) so as to complete the incomplete received provisioning order and to send the corresponding provisioning order/s to the corresponding provisioned entity/ies (121, 122, 123). The provisioning controller may check a service provisioning template (PT-X), which can comprise identifiers of provisioning entities that can supply certain provisioning data, identifiers of the data that can be obtained from each and sequence information determining the order in which said data may be collected and provided for provisioning a given service. A status register may be used to keep track the processing status of a received provisioning order.

Abstract: In a network management system, an application program simulates provisioning operations and other network events in a communications network. The network management system may receive a selection of live network elements to be utilized in a simulated provisioning operation and provisioning instructions. The network management system may then flag the selected live network elements as simulated network elements which may be logical representations of their physical counterparts. The network management system may then execute the provisioning instructions on the simulated network elements to simulate the provisioning of the live network elements. The network management may also receive a selection of live network elements and/or element management systems to be utilized in simulating network events. The network management system may then flag the selected live network elements and/or element management systems and generate the network events based on received event data.

  • Patent number: 7353533
Abstract: The administration of protection of data on a client mobile computing device by a server computer system such as within an enterprise network or on a separate mobile computing device is described.

  • Patent number: 7352853
Abstract: A method of automation of subscriber customer premises equipment provisioning for use in a next generation telecommunications network. In one specific embodiment, the method involves receiving a service request from a network service provider that specifies a service to be provided to the customer premises equipment. A configuration template for a configuration appropriate for the customer premises equipment is retrieved. Configuration data is automatically generated for the customer premises equipment based on the configuration template and stored system configuration information. The completed configuration data is automatically delivered over the network to the customer premises equipment to result in configuring the customer premises equipment to provide the service. Embodiments are useful for configuring ADSL and T1 CPE devices in a voice-over-ATM network that uses Internet Protocol.
