  • Patent number: 10019888
Abstract: Some embodiments provide a reminder application for creating and displaying weather-based reminders. The reminder application provides a set of tools to create a reminder and associate the reminder with a weather condition for a location. To present a weather-based reminder, the reminder application of some embodiments identifies a reminder associated with a weather condition for a location. The application then retrieves weather data for that location. After retrieving the weather data, the application then compares the weather data with the weather condition. When the weather data satisfies the weather condition, the application presents the reminder.

  • Patent number: 9380155
Abstract: Systems, methods and apparatus for generating, distributing, and using speech recognition models. A shared speech processing facility is used to support speech recognition for a wide variety of devices with limited capabilities including business computer systems, personal data assistants, etc., which are coupled to the speech processing facility via a communications channel, e.g., the Internet. Devices with audio capture capability record and transmit to the speech processing facility, via the Internet, digitized speech and receive speech processing services, e.g., speech recognition model generation and/or speech recognition services, in response. The Internet is used to return speech recognition models and/or information identifying recognized words or phrases. The speech processing facility can be used to provide speech recognition capabilities to devices without such capabilities and/or to augment a device's speech processing capability.

  • Patent number: 9036480
Abstract: The present invention relates to a point code emulation apparatus and method for dividing a Common Channel Signaling System No. 7 (or SS7) signaling network into two or more networks. The point code emulator is adapted to receive TCAP messages from two or more subnets and converts, for the messages crossing over the subnets, the information of the TCAP messages, including originating point code, destination point code, and transaction identifier, (and optionally, calling party number and called party number), and forwards to the other one of the two or more subnets. Correspondence among the two or more subnets may be provisioned by an authorized user of the system, may be learned automatically by the system based on ISUP message correspondences or previous TCAP transactions, or may be automatically discovered by the system broadcasting messages to nodes in the destined one of the two or more subnets.

Confusion is reduced by the combination of audible call waiting indicators and audible caller identification information associated with the calling telephone station. Additionally, both the indicator and the representation of the information can be provided automatically without significant delay. The indication is provided even when standard caller identification information is not available by prompting the caller to provide spoken caller identification information. The spoken caller identification information is provided to the called party along with call disposition options, such as options to accept or reject the call, route the call to voice mail or send a sales refusal message.

  • Patent number: 7881453
Abstract: A call-handling system and its method of operation are disclosed. The call-handling system comprises a communication system and a call center. The communication system receives a call, and in response, transfers a query. The call center receives and processes the query to select a packet address of a call center resource at the call center. The call center transfers a response indicating the selected packet address of the call center resource. The communication system receives the response indicating the selected packet address of the call center resource and transfers the call to the call center in voice packets having the selected packet address of the call center resource. The call center receives the voice packets having the selected packet address of the call center resource and routes the voice packets to the call center resource based on the selected packet address.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for controlling end-to-end media on packet networks such as Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and Service over Internet Protocol (SoIP) networks are disclosed. The present method provides an algorithm to be run by channel terminations such that the media channel is controlled by compositional actions. For example, the servers that terminate the media channel are able to respond on behalf of an endpoint in order to effect the appropriate compositional action. The present method also enables each direction of a bi-directional media channel to be controlled independent of the media channel in the opposite direction.

  • Patent number: 7606219
Abstract: In a telephone network, an intelligent peripheral (IP) provides a variety of auxiliary call processing functions, such as announcement playback and digit collection. In response to each call, the IP queries a service control point (SCP) over a data network, for instructions as to processing of the call. The IP runs software to select one SCP for control of each call, from a number of SCPs on the data network, and obtain the requisite instructions for the call from the identified SCP. For each call, the IP software identifies the telephone number of the subscriber and uses the NPA-NXX and D digits from that number to access a first mapping table and obtain a CLLI code identifying an SCP. Using the CLLI code from the first table, the IP software accesses a second mapping table to obtain the CLLI code for the mate to the identified SCP. Using the two CLLI codes, the IP also goes through the second table to obtain all of the Internet Protocol addresses for the two SCPs.

Abstract: Pass code security is provided for a teleconference call in an AIN-based telecommunications network. Participants to the conference call dial in to a bridge at a Service Switching Point (SSP). If a trigger is detected on the line associated with the bridge, a Service Control Point (SCP) is queried, which in turn causes an Intelligent Peripheral (IP) to generate a voice message asking the caller for a pass code. If a valid pass code is entered by the caller and received at the IP, the SSP connects the caller to the bridge.
