  • Patent number: 11526396
Abstract: The invention relates to an interconnection network for forward error correction encoders and decoders, including N input terminals, N output terminals, and M stages. Each stage includes switching elements having input pins and output pins. The input pins of the switching elements of the first stage are connected to the input terminals, and the output pins of the switching elements of the last stage are connected to the output terminals. The input and output pins of the switching elements of immediately successive stages are connected in a hardwired fashion so as to form a plurality of interconnection sub-networks for routing respective input values from respective output pins of the switching elements of the first stage to respective input pins of the switching elements of the last stage.

  • Patent number: 8977240
Abstract: A method for controlling and evaluating message traffic of a communication unit uses a first network unit within a mobile radio system for forwarding all the messages of the message traffic. The first network unit decides, using one or more useful information items of the communication unit, whether one or more messages are forwarded to a second network unit for processing or whether they are blocked. The first network unit is also used to determine, using one or more useful information items of the communication unit, whether the respective message of the message traffic is logged by the first network unit in a logfile.

  • Patent number: 8160234
Abstract: A technique is disclosed that optimizes the background noise experienced by a party who is calling into a call center. Working as part of an overall call-assignment algorithm, the technique considers the acoustic noise that is present in the vicinities of multiple call-center agents who are otherwise satisfactory candidates to handle a call. The technique then selects an agent to handle the call who is associated with an optimal acoustic noise. Typically, the selected agent is associated with lowest background noise level. The background noise is monitored at each call agent's station by evaluating the signals that are present at the agent's microphone. Usually, this is done when a call agent is between calls and, as a result, is not using her headset at that moment. In other words, the background noise is actually measured, and the measurements are then used to assign a call agent to the incoming call.

Abstract: A method and system of local call detection and notification are provided for a communication device that communicates with an enterprise system via a secure digital voice connection and locally with the Public Switched telephone system (PSTN) via an analog line. A dialing sequence at said communication device is detected within the enterprise system for which local call routing is to be applied. Call routing is then initiated through the enterprise system and a request message is sent to the communication device that includes the dialing sequence. The request message is received within the communication device, which in response determines availability of the analog line. In the event an analog line is available the communication device sends a response message to the enterprise system for aborting call routing through the enterprise system, and locally dials said the sequence over the analog line. In the event an analog line is not available call routing continues through the enterprise system.

Abstract: A system for controlling a telecommunications network, e.g., a public switched switching network, which has a first switch fabric, for controlling connections or calls in the network. This fabric has first and second ports, and third ports for communicating with, e.g., a second switch fabric and/or peripheral apparatus. A bridging circuit, also located within the network, may be connected between the first and second ports. A computer apparatus, external to the network, is connected to the first and the second ports of the first switch fabric in order to control connections among the first, second and third ports.

Abstract: A telephony system includes a switch coupled to a call agent and a legacy application, and further coupled to resources, some controlled by the call agent and others controlled by the legacy application. The switch processes connection requests from the call agent and the legacy application, and, using a resource emulator as an intermediary, establishes connections between call agent controlled resources and legacy application controlled resources.

Abstract: A failsafe configuration for alternative network telephony is disclosed. An indication as to whether an alternative network telephony call processing system is available to process calls from an associated piece of telephone equipment is received automatically and transparently to a user of the telephone equipment. Calls placed from the telephone equipment at a time when the alternative network telephony call processing system is available to process calls are processed via alternative network telephony. Calls placed from the telephone equipment at a time when the alternative network telephony call processing system is not available to process calls are processed via the public switched telephone network (PSTN).

Abstract: A method of detecting circular routing in a No. 7 signaling network is provided which detects circular routing that occurs when operating the signaling network, thereby preventing congestion of links by circular routing and finding out any reasons for the link congestion. The method detects a circular routing that occurs in three or more signaling transfer points, by transmitting a message transfer part routing verification test (MRVT) message through the signal route of the highest priority among the signal routes in an available state which go to a specific destination point code (DPC), only when a link is in an unavailable state, thereby preventing congestion of links by circular routing and finding out any reasons for the link congestion.

  • Patent number: 7065090
Abstract: A cross-bar switch includes a set of input ports and a set of sink ports in communication with the input ports. The input ports receive packets, which are snooped by the sink ports. The cross-bar switch also includes a set of port address tables. Each port address table is adapted to store data identifying a plurality of destinations supported by a sink port. For example, a first port address table is adapted to identify a plurality of destinations supported by a first sink port in the set of sink ports. When determining whether to accept a packet, a sink port considers whether the packet's destination is identified in the sink port's port address table. By supporting multiple destinations, a port address table implicitly facilitates a sink port's multicast operation.

  • Patent number: 7042998
Abstract: A method and system is provided wherein routing information is obtained from previously cached information or from a gatekeeper. An originating gateway in a network receives a request for a connection and determines whether pertinent routing information is cached. If available, the cached routing is used to attempt to establish a connection. If no previously established routing is available, the originating gateway requests preferred routing from a gatekeeper, including prioritized selections of terminating gateways through which to make a connection to a designated call recipient. In a further embodiment of the invention, a process is provided to respond to a complaint regarding the quality of service. The system determines whether the reported problem is general or isolated; if it is general, alternate call routing is devised.
